  1. I am not sure where you are located, but the Walmart at Morningside and 401 did have one marine battery last time I was there. They were still asking full price. It was a deep cycle, but I have used deep cycles for starting a 55hp before. I am not sure if they would work for a larger engine. I think most places will be out of stock and will not be restocking until spring. I was there again and they had five Marine/RV batteries; a mix of deep cycle and starting. Still full price though.
  2. They do exist, but they are a little pricey. I guess I will have to stick to lead acid for now. http://www.emarinesystems.com/categories/Batteries/Lithionics-Marine-Batteries/?gclid=CjwKEAjwqamhBRDeyKKuuYztxwQSJAA1luvGEtM70LfUF9_pLpwXIDlEvZcZpC_Hudl2rPq-i9exYxoCG9Lw_wcB
  3. You may have to wait until spring to pick up a marine battery at Costco. I checked a few stores recently and could not find any marine batteries. If you are lucky enough to find one you will probably get it at a clearance price.
  4. Another option is to order your prescription glasses with a clip on lense.
  5. Don't microwave either. There are people that have tried this. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2469130,00.asp
  6. But it may explain why Rapala spools their reel with 10 colours of lead core and then calls it a down rigger combo
  7. They rated Pheonix number one! Didn't the league have to take over the team due to bankruptcy? Not much credibility if that is who they rank as number one.
  8. I think I have the same one. I haven't had any problems with it.
  9. Depends on the conditions, location, water temperature, and whether I am fishing alone.
  10. You may want to try the #2 and #3 settings to get your baits out to the side of the boat; especially if you are running down riggers too. If that doesn't work, you send your dipsys to me.
  11. I have been here since 1999. I don't think it was around too long before that. A lot of interesting people have come and gone over the years. It is alway interesting when someone digs up an old post and we see all of the old members.
  12. Shimano Stella? A 24 of those would make a nice gift.
  13. I don't think that you would have to replace a marine grade plywood floor in as little as 7 years. The wood floor in my previous boat was still solid after 14 years. My brother in law has been using the boat for 6 years since I owned it. That is 20 years and counting with the original wood floor.
  14. Why would you expect to have to replace a marine grade plywood floor in as little as 7 years? The wood floor in my previous boat was still solid after 14 years. My brother in law has been used it for another 6 years since then for a total of 20 years; he has not had to replace the floor.
  15. Microsoft has recently increased security. I recently had to verify my email by entering a code that they sent to a different email, they also provided the option of a text. However, they did not send an email; the request only came when I tried to sign in. They already had my email and telephone number; they request this info when you create an account. Requesting someone else's email does not make sense.
  16. With the price of boat seats that does not surprise me too much. Especially if it is the original boat brand.
  17. It is quite surprising how far up on the rocks these boats can get and still look like boats. I would have expected a lot more damage to boat that hit land that hard.
  18. Has our society not progressed to the point where a chicken, or other fowl, can cross the road without their motives being questioned?
  19. Thanks, I had actually planned to use this one but missed the exit on #28 and just launched at Willow Bend rather than turn around. We passed a few better launches down stream. I assume the Whitfield location was one of them. I will keep it in mind for any future trips. Thanks, I will keep that one in mind too. I was hoping to have some good fishing reports. But we didn't have much luck fishing. My electric motor only lasted about 15 minutes. Time for a new battery.
  20. Well, a lot of members seem to like their Tim's; so it is somewhat relevant. http://dealbook.nytimes.com/2014/08/24/burger-king-in-talks-to-buy-tim-hortons/?_php=true&_type=blogs&partner=yahoofinance&_r=0
  21. Definitely a slow year for me. I fish Lake Ontario a lot; others seem to have struggled as well.
  22. Would that be Willow Bend Marina? Is that a pretty good launch? Do they have adequate parking? It sounds like the Michael's Crescent ramp is pretty good quality. Does anyone know if they have parking nearby? Is anyone familiar with the Campbelltown Rd. launch. Do they have parking? I would appreciate any information anyone can give me on Ottonobee River boat launches. I have a 16' aluminum with a 50hp and a 4 wd truck so it doesn't have to be a perfect boat launch. As long is it reasonalbly decent quality I should be fine. I will need a place to park. I don't mind paying a reasonable fee to use the launch. Thanks,
  23. I was seeing surface temps below 42 degrees on Lake Ontario today.
  24. Isn't 9.9 overkill for a boat like that? I have a similar size boat; and my 2.5 hp will push it around. I would think that a 4 or 6hp would be sufficient. Getting a proper kicker motor that is geared and proped for a larger boat helps too.
  25. Cabela's used to sell some called Kickapoo Kickers. It does not look like they are made anymore... perhaps there is a reason for that. I did see these. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fishmaster-style-paddle-pushers-tube-fishing-fins-kickers-/161075124953?pt=US_Taxidermy&hash=item2580d35ad9
