  1. It may make sense in northern Ontario. But in southern Ontario we often have dry roads and warm temperatures in mid winter.
  2. Wow! Do my eyes deceive me; or, did the Leafs actually out shoot their opponent tonight?
  3. New arena for Ottawa? https://ca.news.yahoo.com/ottawa-senators-actively-considering-move-125844165.html

  5. I find that if happens more often on Craigslist than Kijiji. I don't usually get those emails with Kijiji. One thing that I noticed is when you post a few things for sale at the same time you will get virtually identical emails for completely different items. That is a good clue that something is up. This is usually on Craigslist though.
  6. Thanks for all or your help. You did come up with some questions and points that I had not thought of. I actually just spoke to the person I was supposed to meet tomorrow. We have put off the meeting for now. He said I do not qualify for free installation; plus, my roof is too old. I would qualify under the investor program; but I am not interested in that at the moment.
  7. Here is there web site. http://solarbrokerscanada.com/#gotohome If you want, you can touch base after I meet with them on Tuesday so I can let you know if any red flags come up.
  8. Based on the short conversation with them; I think they want to rent the roof. I am scheduled to meet with them on Tuesday. I will know more then.
  9. Has anybody dealt with Solar Brokers Canada? I received a call from them about installing solar panels. Are they any particular concerns I should have about solar power; or in dealing with this particular company? I do have some good southern exposure, so my house may be a good choice for solar power.
  10. That would be true for natural lakes. However, the Kawartha chain of lakes was only created 180 years ago. The current muskie population evolved to survive in the pike free rivers and few small lakes that existed prior to construction of the Trent/Severn. They did not evolve to compete with pike in a series of interconnected man made lakes. A different strain may be better suited to the new habitat. If the current population gets wiped out because it cannot compete with pike; then stocking the same strain is not likely to create a self sustaining population. A different strain has the potential to establish a self sustaining population.
  11. I don't think that it makes sense to use the Kawartha strain for stocking. If the current muskie population gets wiped out, it will be because they cannot co-exist with pike. What is the point in stocking more muskies that cannot co-exist with pike into lakes containing pike? I think the Georgian Bay and/or St. Lawrence River strains would make more sense. That have the potential for a self sustaining muskie population that co-exists with pike.
  12. Is that legal? Trebles count as three hooks when not attached to an artificial lure. I have heard of people attached some spinner blades to make it an artificial lure. I am not sure whether the MNR has an official position on that. I am assuming that you are in Ontario.
  13. I am not convinced on these points. It is interesting that Purple Loosestrife is used as an example when beetles have been released to control its population. It may have been far more damaging without the biological controls. https://ca.news.yahoo.com/battling-invasive-species-mistake-ecologist-100000274.html
  14. The answer may be to stock the Kawarthas with a strain of muskie that has co-existed with pike.
  15. Good news. http://www.outdoorcanada.ca/Charges_laid_over_Detroit_River_muskie_killing
  16. Wouldn't the tax be federal now that we have HST? I know the province gets 8/13 of the tax; but I believe it is all federally administered. They gave all the PST employees severance packages even though they got jobs with the federal government.
  17. What about neoprene gloves? Not the warmest, but water does not affect them much.

  19. Sometimes companies are will to give a little extra if you are ready to walk away. The only way to get a decent price from Rogers or Bell is to threaten to cancel your service. I have had up to four free cable boxes from Rogers because was ready to switch to Bell if they didn't do something for me. I haven't tried to get a free battery from ADP yet; but I seem to recall someone posting that they did get a free battery replacement when they said they would cancel the service otherwise.
  20. Are you off contract with the alarm system? If so, you can threaten to cancel the service if they do not replace the battery for free.
  21. TUFA (Toronto Urban Fishing Association?) was looking for fishing equipment for their fishing days. I can put you touch with them if you want to go that route.
  22. You don't need to own a vehicle to drive one. Lots of people have drivers licences without owning a car.
  23. I assume they had a dish. You can probably get Bell Fibe TV which doesn't require a dish. You can probably get a free rental on a new box if you threaten to go with Bell.
  24. Just tell your wife that your boat needs to be replaced after 10 years
  25. Thanks for the tips. The local Walmart didn't the correct battery in stock. I picked up a battery from PartSource. It seems to be fine. I don't have to reset the clock everytime I start the truck now.
