Nice Sturg Mike, and a great multi-specie trip, nice to see some pre-historic history still navigating our waterways.

Not sure on that one, but you should be able to make one, or have someone fabricate one, its just a square with 4 holes, should be easy, although they are flanged on the sides to lock into the plate.

Very nice musky, they seem to like the dusk witching period in fall, definately an edge worth sticking it out to in fall

X2 on Stacy, new rods coming in from Stacy in 2014 from the sledgehammer bait company, with a now rare and unheard of warranty in todays market, email him from Mike P's thread for the details, and also a new low-profile reel from Okuma as well to be in the store, both these are musky series, but Stacy's location in Belleville the fish rich area of BOQ offers a great selection of tackle and multi-species gear as well.

Dams also block upstream migration, and concentrate fish in the deeper pools usually found below, this is for inland bodies of water only, you cannot not directly fish below dams/barriers on tributary creeks flowing into the great lakes.

Me too, and i was in the first one

I can text you a pic that the nurse took at PRHC, with the 4/0 hanging out of my back if you wish just to make your day Ron

Ordering from Musky shop killed me with extra fees, likely shipped UPS, i quit ordering because of it, but if there is another option to avoid those rediculous extras im in, and will likely give Jim Stewart some more business because they are great people, and they do have some hard to find items

While fly fishing for muskies from shore, with increasing strong south winds I was noticing how damn close the fly was coming to me between my back cast and forward cast, one time is came a little to close for comfort so to speak, and drove the 8 inch fly with 4/0 hook in through my hoodie, through my T Shirt and into my back below my shoulder blade. knowing my wife would not have the strength to cut the hook with the knipex, i headed over to the Shimano Warranty centre, where they cut the hook enough to free my hoodie and shirt, and off to the hospital i went to remove the rest of the hook. Thanx Shimano for great service above and beyond the ordinary

Its all timing, and time spent on the tribs, knowing when each river is fishable after the amount of rain that falls is first, and multiple great days can happen by fishing each trib as they clear at different intervals. When the rivers you want to fish are blown or unfishable (chocolate milk) mark down the hours or days when they start to clean or are fishable so you will have that as a guideline until you remember it naturally.

Yes Hybrids are sterile, so harvesting is not really an issue or a concern, but they still are a musky, and the Zone rules that apply to musky also apply to hybrids, they are one beautiful fish for sure, the concern in the Kawartha's is the Kawartha musky have been identified as a unique strain of its own, and for thousands of years, have never had to share the same waters with Northern Pike, which are now present in the Northern K Lakes namely Balsam Lake where a 50 1/2 inch hybrid was caught by a MCI member in 2011, and also more recently 2013 to be exact in the Otonabee river below lock 19 where 4 Northern Pike have been caught and confirmed. In waters where Musky and Pike have co-existed its usually a non-issue, but in the Kawartha's it could and can be devastating, with the more aggressive and dominant Pike winning the battle for both food and spawing locations. Crowe Lake in Marmara is a prime example of this, and one project that the members of MCI K Lakes Chapter have been working on PIP (Pike Invasion Project) is to help identify true esocid spawning sites namely Musky, by seine netting and trap netting potential spawning sites for YOY (young of the year muskies) -
No need to pay for parking, the fine folks at Port Hope, have free parking, but the 50 cent drafts at the Walton Hotel are a long gone thing of the past. Was a great place to go if the Salmons arnt biting

Absolutely a workout, which is another reason to give the conventional tackle a try, just to give your arms a rest. Recently the fish have shown a preference for the smaller 7 to 8 inch streamers,(easier on the arms) instead of the tandem hook 14 inchers i make as well. For anyone interested in this, Icelandic sheep hair is really soft and pulses like maraboo steelhead flies when twitched, over the standard course Yak hair i usually use to get the 10 to 14 inch streamers, much cheaper on the wallet then the sometimes hard to get Yak hair as well.

You have them dialed in casting Mike, it would certainly be a viable option for you, especially on Musky rich LSC, they love your Handlebarz on LSC, so flies with lots of flash would be the way to go.

I know where Drifters coming from, theres kind of a thrill in that, like knowing you have the hot roe on the river, and everyone wants some

musky fishing can be a challenging sport at times, doing it with a fly rod triples the challenge, i always take the conventional gear with me, but find myself pitching 6 to 14 inch chunks of hair, hackle and flash trying to coax a strike from a musky, with the warmer temps, water temp was 61 degrees, fish were still relating to weeds, weed clumps, and also the first break. Had 4 fish interested in the fly, 3 on figuer 8s at boatside, and 1 large fish picked up the fly about 65 ft out, and swam with the fly towards the boat, i tried strip setting 5 times but the fish was always moving towards the boat faster then the sets, and basically never even felt the attempted hook sets, and when the fish got to the boat just spit the fly, with the clear water i could see the hole show, which was cool too see, tomorrows another day, with a front coming through, and another go at it,

Penski should have stuck with Dodge, where they were the sole funded team. IMO, glad to see BK with a win though, it must be frustrating after last years golden run.

Looks like fun times had by all, very nice Pike as well

The horse racing industry does not bother me, it employees thousands of people in Ontario, saves horses from the slaughter house. Buying votes at a cost of 1.1 Billion of taxpayers money does bother me, and the persons responsible need to be taken to the slaughter house, not the horses.
-
1.1 billion would have built a decent fish lift, or at least repaired the broken one.

If you come across a road kill Yak, give me a hollar,
