French River Update and fish of lifetime
esoxansteel replied to sneak_e_pete's topic in General Discussion
A incredible musky, and absolutely gorgeous, you have set the bar very high for yourself to beat, congradulations -
Port hope falls in Zone 17, and Lake O falls in Zone 20, better off fishing the piers although they will be crowded, but at least you have a chance of catching a legitamate one, instead of a flossed one in the river, and that should make you prouder of your accomplisments at days end, flipping stcks with large capacity reels, are adequate, as well as the longer beefier spinning rods and 4000 series reels, 10 pound mono minimum, glow in the dark Cleos 3/4oz, Ping-a Ts if you can find them, canadian wigglers, Rapalas etc in brighter colours, will do the trick. The river will be loaded with campers, loogans, rednecks, asses, and white trash, and some Salmon, and rotting chinook carcasses in garbage cans, if you have a small boat, and fish off the river mouth thats even better, we use to troll Ping-a Ts off the rivermouths of Lake O tribs in a 14ft Sportspal canoe, when conditions allowed

Check one of the many shopping carts that are thrown in the creek, it might be in one of those, or an old tire, or a soggy diaper

2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4X4 Diesel
esoxansteel replied to Steve's topic in General Discussion
Vehicle is a 2008, and vehicle warranty will be over, i have owned 2 grand cherokees both limiteds, on with an inline 4/0 litre 6 cyl, and this one with a hemi, both have been extremely reliable vehicles, the inline was a stump puller, and still runs flauless today with over 350,000 kms, the hemi is also a great vehicle, and gives me very decent mileage, better then the ratings for that vehicle, the 3/0 litre Benz deisel should be a great motor, and reliable as well -
Well it's Rice Lake time again thank goodness

1 1/2 to 2 oz bouncers, harnesses and 5 inch gulp leeches, in 18 to 22 ft of water will do the trick, with some duke walleyes as well. Flat line trolling weed edges at night also working as well, and even out in the barren flats as well for roaming eyes -
No mention of Coho's, which will readily take flies, jigs, and harware up rivers, and chase them down well into December, far superior river fish then Chinooks, just half or a third of the size, hot afraid to getr airborne as well

Wow this thread is going in all sorts of directions, from pro tournaments, to against tournaments, from the tackle industry, to the gas burned on a trip, and even Nascar, and its still quite credible with no lock down yet. Interesting perspectives non the less.

Exactly, with these water temps some mortality is to be expected, especially with gamefish which require more O2, went out on Rice Lake fishing walleyes at midnight wednesday, and the Indian River at Keene was 86.2 degrees on both my graphs, and Rice Lake was 81.4 to 82 degrees, again that was at midnight, hopefully the cold front will drop water temps, and also provide much needed relief and rain.

From todays Peterborough Examiner, Dead Bass washed up on residents properties, and were found floating in lake this week, after a weekend tourney on the Tri-Lakes, a picture showed 5 very large and dead bass, on the front lawn of a Bridgenorth resident. Tourney president denies weekend event had anything to do with dead Bass, as the Shimano Live Release boat was used. MNR mentioned that extremely high water temps can cause undue stress on fish, and mortality can occur, but so far only Bass have been found or reported. Hopefully someone can post the link to see the story

Blaze Orange Dark Gold Sides, is my most productive Suick, both suicks and Sledges can be trolled as well as casted, Sledges troll faster then Suicks, but trolling allows you to cover water quicker, but casting allows you to pick apart productive areas.

They are on Pido Road in Peterborough, just off the Bypass, take the Ashburnam cutoff

Chasing The Grey, A Journey Back In Time
esoxansteel replied to DRIFTER_016's topic in General Discussion
Awesome trip and report, you sure covered alot of ground to burn 40 gallons in a 4 stroke, hopefully the Dark Rum held up Dave, that could be worse then running out of gas -
Splurge and go to McDonalds Lew they have Coke, and youll be able to buy a couple more musky lures with the money youll save, and its free refills to boot.

New a guy who used to eat them, and took the livers from them, and extracted the oils from the liver, to treat his roe, and his roe was second to none, fishing sludge water where good roe is a must.

He or she will never go hungry for a fish diner patrolling the Grand, nice photos

Nice fish Lew, nothin more exciting then boatside strikes on the 8, especially watchin her for a few turns to boot. Sorry about your shoulder soldier, im sure you might just have to drop a couple of blade sizes to double 8s and youll be good to go.

Sorry that i embarrased you teacher, i wasnt embarrassed at all when i wrote it, the problem with it is its the truth, which you cant deny, everyone looks for job security, which in most cases revolves around companies been successful, thats about as secure as its gets, remember Coke and any other products can be made in Mexico and other countries much cheaper then in North America, as for the people trying to make ends meet on min wage, and other living better on welfare whats embarrased you on that true statement, your taxes and mine are helping to fund there lifetime careers, as many generations of the same families have followed in the parents and grand parents paths regarding welfare. In MOST cases people control there own destiny, and the paths they choose to walk, hard work for just rewards never hurt no one. I feel sorry for the ones making min wage, holding 2 to 3 jobs and paying 900.00 a month for rent, with little left for food, hydro etc. put yourself in there shoes, but they are working and contributing to this country we call home, there the ones who need the financial assistance, how would you feel teacher, in that viscious circle of life, making min wage, with no clear path out?, nothing to look forward to, as far as your Mike Harris comment, he did what he was elected to do, for 2 terms, i know teachers did not like him, but you can rest now because Winnie will look after you now, maybe the teachers pention fund can pay for the cancelled gas plants, im sure it wouldnt hurt them or you one bit. Enjoy your 3 months off, while i sweat my off

I am assuming that you work for Coke, for how long?, i assume you also make a decent wage, with excellent benefits, if you dont like your job, and are digraced to work for a successful company that makes a profit which assures you job security, quit quit quit, then work 2 to 3 jobs at minimum wage, to make ends meet, or you can go on welfare like millions of Canadian White Trash do and expect the Canadian taxpayer to provide them with accomadation, food, spending money, health care, dental, and legal aid, i would think you have it pretty good at Coke. Thanx for letting me blow off some steam before the long weekend, Happy Canada Day to all hard working Canadians, im off to Loblaws to by a case of Coke for my Canadian Whisky.

Not sure how many of those heads Jim still has left, the guy who used to pour for Jim retired and i bought both of the molds from him, and had another custom made to fit a mustad Ultra-point, as i have used that particular style for about 15 years, and your right theres no better mold for rippin, and when airbrused they look damn fine at least to the angler, and also the big eyes. I know the old Rice Lake walleye firefighter tourney was won at least 6 times with that jig style, the mold was very limited prioduction, and did not sell well, as it was never marketed as a rippin head, and became discontinued, it came out, before the big rippin push came about, and was designed for for draggin, hence its name slide a long jig mold. Jim does make some bananas as well, but i think the one your talking about stoty is the other style

Plug and tetherswitch installed or you wont be going to far, bring double 10s, glides, topwaters, sledges, jakes cause who would want to fish for bait anyways, unless its walleye which taste soooo damn good.

To my knowlege Brook trout are not stocked in 17, other then the Millbrook ponds put and take fishing area, further North in the colder meso lakes of Zone 15 they are, there are many cold water creeks which offer decent size naturals in Zone 17, they are sacred and not likely will be disolved on a public board though, so a little research and a walk in the woods should put you on some speckled beauties.
