  1. They were out in the late 80s and early 90s, and were distributed by Normark in Oshawa, i did have 2 blanks that I built, one 12fter, and one 11 1/2 fter, bought the blanks for 25.00 each, there was a 13fter that is still sought after to this day, the factory guides looked like fuji hardaloys from the pic, definately not as desirable as a custom built 13ft Lews, but if you got it for a decent price your ahead of the game, if you get LEW to autograph it, the value will go up 10 fold. LOL
  2. LMAO I dont think you would use a rod weighted for 2 to 6 pound Lew, a little lite for muskies
  3. Thats why Roys so lean and muscular, lookin after 10 tip-ups must be quite a chore, when you run into a school of fish
  4. Absolutely, no problems with the knot, wet it before you tighten it up
  5. If you want to fish more areas, then you have to take the end of your holiday time in late April, if you can take the first week in May id do that two. last year pickings were slim by the last week of March in the lower stretches, with the bigger runs coming 2 weeks earlier, but again your fishing from the SOUTH side of the CNR bridge to the lake, which some people just cant read the Regs, and prefer to poach and harvest steelhead under the bridge.
  6. Check Stacy at protacklemuskyshop and see what he has, if you are an MCI member a discount will come your way
  7. Man im glad I opened this up, what a beautiful mount of a huge perch, incredible detail, and probably the most lifelike mount ive seen to date, congradulations
  8. Look at me, and i dont look Native either, but you wouldnt want to bet on it, or you would lose your bet, same as the guy at the exibitions who could guess your weight within 5 pounds, i use to beat him or her everytime as well, you cant judge a person by his looks although its fun trying i guess. Migweetch
  9. Buy some Cleo's youll cast farther then what you mentioned that you have, and there nor too expensive, 1/3rd and 2/5th ounce will do the trick
  10. You will probably see the wings show up on some guys souped up rusted out Cavalier, with the 2000,00 sterio system, and the big noisy chrome exhaust extention
  11. A plane was stolen out of a hanger at the Peterborough airport last thursday, the plane was in for refurbising and had no wings, but a pair of wings were stolen that did not belong to that plane, and airport officials and police are warning the culprits not to install those incorrect wings, or trouble will enevitably happen, the stolen property was valued at 92,000.
  12. A certified mechanic must have made that rule LOL,
  13. In MCI outings we pinch the tail to put everyone on the same playing field, bragging rights for the longest fish are a beautiful glass trophy donated by Swan Moving and Storage, who donates a trophy for all the outings. For me personally a true 50 inch fish is one measured without a pinch, i caught a 50 inch fish that pinched to 51 1/2 inches, which is common for a large musky, but sent in my release log to MCI as a 50 inch fish. Petes 49 1/2inch fish would have easily pinched 51 inches. For slot size walleye we have to measure tip of nose to tip of tail, we cant pinch to make them fit in the slot range, so to get the true length its without the pinch IMHO.
  14. Cold Creek Fly Fishers, and Capital Muskies, the Ontario Chinese Anglers Association, Ontario Bass Federation, Kawartha Anglers to name a few more, there must be a Yak group out there somewhere with its increasing popularity.
  15. Thanx Dave, tried that site previously to register, and when you click the map to the area you live, the site froze, but i did get the rod registered now as it was either an issue with the site or my puter, but its fixed now thanx again ironically they did not even ask what rod i was registering, they just wanted me on there mailing list, for there news letter
  16. I have a strong fetish for Bull Dogs too,
  17. Having trouble registering my new 9 ft 10wt Grey's Salt Water rod through there website, greys fishing.com greys is a hardy company does anyone know the dealer rep for them in southern ont and maybe a contact number so i can get this rod registered in case it blows up? thanx for any help and for looking
  18. Ive got 2 of them and if someone offered me 500.00 for 1, id say you just bought yourself a manual hand auger
  19. Regarding the bump boards, you can take a 60 inch piece of green plastic watermain pipe, cut it evenly lengthwise in half, so you have 2 60 inch pieces of pipe now, cap one end of each pipe with Lexan, or Acrylic, and place a stick on 60 inch tape down the length of the pipe, with the 0 starting at the capped end, do the same with the other, and you will have 2 60 inch bump boards, and the musky will sit comfortably in the curved plastic pipe for proper measurements, you can also put a seamstress tape before placing the musky in the bump board for a girth if desired, there is minimal to no protective layer lost because of the plastic pipe, been partially submerged in water while measurements are taking place, and the pipe been smooth as well.
  20. Again great post an info, as for the water temp issues with release, is very true, but each fish is different, and ive had fish in 46 and 52 degree water that took an hour to release as well, with proper musky gear, which usually is not an issue, spend the time with the fish, make sure it is able to support itself in the water, if it is swimming on the surface that is ok, still stay with the fish, circling it if you have to, to make sure it does not get hit by another boater, and do not leave the fish till it is ready and has taken off to the depts where she came from. This can take time, but you put the time in to catch the fish, take the time to ensure its safely back where she came from. Education by knowlegable anglers is the best way to ensure our kids and grandkids will be able to enjoy the fishing opportunities that we enjoy today, on that note i hope to practice my musky release techniques tomorrow.
  21. Nice fish Larry, the fall windows can be short, and many fall pigs have been taken at dusk, when the rest of the day has been rather uneventful.
  22. Maybe some guys on TV should gather some info before they pursue Muskies or any other fish for that matter, holding them out of the water for extended periods of time Just watched the Fish TV guys fishing LSC with a guy who guides there, and vertical holds with Bogas grips, were common on the show with each fish of any size been held out the water hanging off a Boga so the viewers could see that Leo and Ron can catch Muskies, im not sure what happened to some of the many fish that were caught after they were released but i have a pretty good idea. The net that was used was also inferior, and looked like a typical Salmon net, with nylon mesh, and a handle extention, and not the treated mesh variety that is preferred by most seasoned musky fisherman, to help protect the muskies protective coating, and to reduce or eliminate hook penetration into the mesh which helps to speed up the release, and is safer for the fish and the angler. It is rather alarming that a Charter guy who makes his living by taking people out to catch muskies, doesnt have the proper equipment to do a safe, quick and proper release.
  23. The classic file factory hole on the Ganaraska river, that was so popular, up to the early 80s before the hole was destroyed, by the town to help, to try to prevent another flood like the one in 1980. Well listening to the news tonight, the old delapitated file factory building was housing, a grow-op with 1800 plants with an estimated street value of 1.8 million, on the river side(east side) of the buiding you can still see the water line from the flood of 1980 and how far up the wall it actually went, the file factory building actually saved a good portion of the west side of the town in that area from been flooded. A little nostalgia on a very classic hole, that most of the early steelheaders of the 70s and 80s will remember fondly, sorta 2-parts to the story actually.
  24.
