I question the truth of 'crack pipe'. Couldn't you smoke anything out of a glass pipe and how would a video tell you what's actually in the pipe? Also, there is no way someone who has a high-pressure job like Mayor could be a crackhead...has the media ever seen a crackhead before?? The current conservative group (feds, prov) is pretty scary for our democracy and Canadian culture imo, but I actually thought it was good to see a more 'normal' person like Rob Ford in politics. There are a lot of odd people/slobs/jerks/etc etc out there and most politicians do not represent the average Joe, Rob Ford is more like you and me that most politicians I can guarantee that. Either way, I don't really care what happens in Toronto, I can't see how anyone could live there anyway.

electro-fishing is used without harm to fish all the time...why not electro-fish in areas where/when the carp spawn and then just remove the unwanted species? Do this for a month over several years and this would surely make a good dent in a population. Electro-fishing programs cannot be that expensive or difficult to initiate and run, quickly...if they wait and the fish spread too much then good-luck covering that tab no matter what option is chosen thereafter.

I'm at the mercy of HydroOne and several kilometers of gravel road for electricity, but I have wood/propane heat and a propane oven, If I can stay warm and eat...good enough haha.

I figure that anybody going around weilding 5- 70 inch blades hung from a helicopter should first think about the risk to hunters during hunting season. That would have been a lawsuit and a half... I also figure squirrels have another predator to look out for

Glad to see you keep the thighs..some good meat on there. Have you ever tried plucking the whole bird, keeping the next, wings and all that? I'll do that sometimes...but only once did I manage to keep the skin on when plucking, it was barely worth the effort but added a nice component to the flavour.

Nice bowls of chantrelles & hedgehogs! I actually saw a few chantrelles today, but not enough to harvest; and no hedgehogs at all. Do you dry or freeze your Hedgehogs?

Sweet thanks Blair. I've done fairly well with the .22, but I've had a few birds get missed 3-4 shots in a row before they fly off. A bit frustrating, but it's very rewarding when you land a perfect head shot!

I saw three doe's while on my 3wheeler bird hunting yesterday, just looking at me, not far away. It's not conventional, but I bet I could just ride around my trails and harvest a deer (if I had tag etc...), kind of like bird hunting.

Really don't want to hijack your thread, Simon, but can I add a question...?....would a plow on a 2x4 truck be completely useless, let's say for a small driveway? 2x4 trucks can be had pretty cheap.
