  1. You're probably right! Pick up that slack and keep trading me fresh fish for fresh rabbit.
  2. Yeah! That's quite the season. I think we are gonna see more and more of you in the world of fishing. Thanks for sharing.
  3. Agree Chris. My wife is also pregnant, so it's looking more and more like a downward trend for my next few years. Although, like most, I'll probably get out more during the winters as there seems to be less to do around the property.
  4. Ha. Figurative meets literal.
  5. Just last year(and years before) I averaged 3-4 days per week fishing. I have a fairly demanding job but that never stopped me. I don't have a boat but a canoe/shore fishing was good enough. I got married but my wife is cool and that never stopped me. Then I bought house/property and my NEED to fish rushed to the back of my mind like untied cargo during a flight take-off. Other than my strong desire to eat fresh fish as often as possible, which will be fulfilled with high perch limits on Nipissing this winter (easily), I lost my mojo for fishing. A few times I even had my wife ask me to go fishing and I refused so I could cut wood or something. Anybody else have stories or quips of fishing mood swings and what caused them. I know a lot of people get back into fishing after years of absence...stories I'd love to hear.
  6. Nice splake. You won't catch my gal holding no fish with bare hands haha. It's gonna be a slow start for me...lots of work this year. Really looking forward to some Nipissing fishing though.
  7. at least another month until we see anything close to 2 feet. Dinner looks great!
  8. So I'm outta town for work. Phone dies from usage and won't start up again. Urge to kill rising.

Can't access call forwarding if the phone is dead...plus my phone is under strict company control and they won't pay for anything but what they provide. I aint paying a cent outta pocket

Well, I need a phone to work efficiently, and I only get paid for billable hours. So it's my problem too.

  9. Nice! You'll eventually get to a point where you'll realize you have too much stuff haha
  10. Great report. Those first photos look awesome
  11. I'm a college grad and I say what I'm saying because I see technician and technologist jobs go to university grads all the time because the employers are (and obviously they would) trying to get the most educated people for their money. College grads train for Technician jobs, university grads don't... generally anyway. You are right though, its only fair for anyone to want to get a foot in the door and get experience in their field. It's definitly a fair position! I'd love a job like this and in another life I'd apply for it. Re-reading the posting, given the amount of writting/workshop work involved it actually DOES seem more like an entry-level University Grad position or a college grad with relevant experience. I didn't fully read the requirements in the posting; i'M onli a Collage graduite. hahaha. But anyway, Cliff is right, this is a great opportunity for whomever!
  12. it's actually college and/or University...but ya, this is definitely a college grad type job, University grad would be way overqualified and would be looking for new work within a month.
  13. I considered just going to those 'u-brew' places for beer n wine to save $. Especially after drinking that sediment-ridden swill of a beer imitation my brother tried to make at home AND convince me was delicious.
  14. Sweet. Would have been nice to get out this weekend....chores and work instead.
  15. Trooper! -20 this morning, clear skies and low winds. Nipissing will have a good skim as well.
  16. You planning a big syrop season next year? I was thinking of starting small this spring. I'll start marking my trees and gathering my buckets and taps later this winter.
  17. Another great report for the archives. You rock man.
  18. No pun intented, but this is depressing.
  19. Hey Alex! Good to hear from you. Glad you're feeling good about this year... maybe we'll see you around North Bay sometime this winter.
  20. We are all 'bleeding hearts' to a certain degree if we don't want to see an animal suffer. As I said before, as a general rule, just don't kill anything with your hands/tools if you are in public. ...It's just one of those things you don't do... nobody cares if they don't see it, funny as that is.
  21. Another step towards an american-style culture. I'm sure it's seen as good by stock holders, but not for Canada as whole in my opinion. I trust the CBC way more than I trust the majority of privately owned corporation. The CBC (as much as they are floaty and eye-rolling liberal sometimes) does good work. I find it disturbing how some of our Canadian traditions are being treated as 'expenses'. TSN sure is hurting now; first Jay Onrait, now this! haha.
  22. "...our Dad would kill us and dance upon our grave" hahahaha. Too funny Simon
  23. We just bought a 2 bedroom house and a few people mentioned that '..if we have more than one kid we'd run out of room'. My response was 'I'll stick the kids in the same room, what did your grandparents do?'. I really don't see how having soooo much space is vital to ones health/comfort. You want space kids? GO OUTSIDE hahaha. I bet a lot of people here, or their grandparents, must have traveled for work. What did you do about lunches and meals? It would be pretty hard to pack a lunch for a week if you are away from home and there certainly were no McD's or Tim's.
