  1. We need to get you a jacket loaded with bumper stickers now. Think of Ben Woo. I'd like to thank Bob for validating all of my Abu purchases. Finally I'm at ease knowing I made the right decision
  2. it certainly IS fun when you catch fish like that
  3. Holy cow, those three girls are abnormally TINY!
  4. You are lucky to have Dan as a friend and guide! Sounds like Alex did a great job of toughing through the cold... Good for him!
  5. The bass have the advantage of reproducing in any slurry they put in. They are a "invade and rarlely take" species up here haha.
  6. Go ahead and open them year round in Zone 11 ...other than a small cross section of people (Parents with small kids, Tourneys and C&R guys) most people don't fish for bass at all. ...and why the heck are bass closed during the winter in the first place??? I've heard of maybe two people accidentally catching bass on the ice and you can bet bass would not get a lot of ice fishing pressure even if open season. The only bass people really keep up here are white bass and they are not even listed as a sport fish in Zone 11! haha, and from what I understand they are actually natural to Lake Nipissing! Darn SMB have ruined some of the lakes up here, including some trout streams in Algonquin park which are quickly slipping away, so I'm not too keen on them... why would a desireable fish like splake/rainbows be open all year and bass are closed during winter when people don't target them anyway...haha, seems so stupid to me. I can understand wanting more restrictions in south and/or Ottawa area regions, because of the much higher fishing pressure towards all species, but anywhere north of haliburton??
  7. Good to see these up. Awesome trip. That's a lot of beer haha
  8. Its about darn time. Bring on the white stuff in hogsheads and in meters and temperatures so low it'll be freezing off peters. The crazies will be crazy so let 'em turn early while I hike and jig and others become lazy.
  9. Your just lucky they didn't pull down your underwear.... "Trick or treat, smell my feet....."
  10. They definitely seem eccentric....hooks in the face, eating worms hahaha. Good entertainment for sure. Bring it on.
  11. Well put. I spent many saturday mornings watching fishing and hunting shows on Global....for $2.25/mth (first 6 months free) I will now be watching WFN.
  12. If she worked at a funeral home, that would very tasteless.
  13. Good thing your ok, but really, I feel worse for the squirrel haha.
  14. at first look I thought you had a double header on that last photo. I'm jealous that you are much closer to ice season than I am.
  15. yup. Who knew muskeg offered little to no traction, eh?? I bought some wheel grips the other day...still considering a winch, farm jack and/or block and tackle. For now, it's dry land only until my muscles fully recover.
  16. sounds like you have a good hunting plot. Best of luck this year Luc. Those martens are really cool animals
  17. Try something on temagami? I don't know any outfitters but I'm sure you could google search then ask for feedback on here
  18. haha, you should see how many bookmarks I have on my computer. Ya, too bad about the Clam shelters with their declining review quality. I'm thinking of these for a pup up: http://www.basspro.com/Frabill-Frontier-Ice-Fishing-Shelter/product/10209388/ out of stock https://fishingworld.ca/products/6227-clam-basecamp-pop-up-hut http://ca.wholesalesports.com/storefront/ice-fishing/shelters-sleds/crystal-ice-fishing-tent/prod10965.html (i've been happy with wholesale's products) And this if I decide to go sleigh. Only 71lbs for this one. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Fishing/Ice-Fishing/Shelters-Sleds%7C/pc/104793480/c/104735880/sc/104561280/Frabill-Trekker-II-Ice-Shelters/1139908.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ffishing-ice-fishing-shelters-sleds%2F_%2FN-1100505%2FNo-48%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104561280%3FWTz_l%3DSBC%253Bcat104793480%253Bcat104735880%26WTz_st%3DGuidedNav%26WTz_stype%3DGNP%26recordsPerPage%3D48&WTz_l=SBC%3Bcat104793480%3Bcat104735880%3Bcat104561280 Maybe we could just buy one and share it
  19. Well, Nip is closed in Nov, but many other lakes are open. As far as crappies, I have very little first hand knowledge about them in the NBay area. However, I do know that the crappie fishing is much better a bit south of us, around the Hwy 522 and Hwy 124 corridors. If your looking for other info, PM me with what your looking for, if you have a boat/canoe/shore fishing etc and I'll try to guide you to a decent spot. For shops, there are a few to try. ASM Sports, on Lakeshore Drive has really good sales sometimes. I picked up boots and bibs for my Wife last year at 60% off. Any of the other snowmobile shops like Carelson's, Power Sports etc should have decent snow gear. Lefevres Outdoors off of Algonquin has name brand items. Superior Safety on Seymour St. has some good warm work clothes like cartharts. You can also try CTire, Marks, WalMart etc etc. I personally buy most of my winter gear online at places like Cabelas, Wholesalesports, fishinghole etc. The price and selection are unparalleled when compared to in-town shopping.
  20. Just installed goodyear duratraks for around 1100 on my B4000. A bit more noise than my old wrangler AT's, but 100 times better in wet and mud (not 3 feet of mud though haha) I'm actually happy with the wranglers for hwy driving. 80 000kms with over 50 percent tread remaining. They'll be back on next summer. Brutal in wet weather though
  21. She's not afraid to catch bigger fish than you, is she? Haha. Lucky indeed, that is some sweet scenery you've witnessed this year.
  22. I used to have a few pieces of plywood in the back of the truck, but junk piles up back there and I have to clean it out once in a while ... wish I had them yesterday. Those jacks they give you with the truck dislike everything except perfectly level/solid ground. For the most part, I'm just gonna stay away from mud. I'll stick to small, dry trails as I initially planned.
  23. We broke a shovel and it was somewhat better than digging by hand.
