  1. All that fish you ate helped as well, I'm sure!! Splake, quinoa and peas for dinner tonight...maybe I should consider wrapping that splake in bacon as well!!
  2. Deep in AP, in the early morning I once heard a very large animal running through the bush, crashing trees and making panicy barking/growling sounds as it ran. Never saw it or heard it after that. I figure it was s a bear, but it sure got me thinking.....maybe a... sasq...u ..atch....??
  3. I'd try my best to join wherever we decide to fish. If Simcoe, maybe I'll land my first ice-whitie! Something I've been itching to do..
  4. That's not a bad problem to have can't wait to see some of your ice reports
  5. By all accounts, the small dose of snow in nbay is here stay. Good timing with the winters. Just got ours done on the wife's corolla... Three hours later i was driving on a flat tire. Ouch.you can bet I'm not paying them any extra work
  6. Congrats on little Caius, Dana! I hope you, Sarah and the baby are doing well. I see that you've kept the same hair style for MANY years Great old shots...love the fact that you still own and use that 12 footer. We'll be in touch for some ice fishing buddy! Cheers.
  7. That's right...the new sled. Not sure I'd be thinking about fishing with that beast on the way It's either a very small walleye lake or a small splake lake for my starter. Already got plans in motion with JoeyTier.
  8. It might be a slushy start for you then. NBay: -10 last night with fair winds and no snow, -8 right now with no snow Boots are Cabelas Saskatchewan Pac Boots....they are actually on sale right now. I've had them for over 4 years and would recommend them for any outdoor activity where you stand in one location for any period of time. Walking....not as good.
  9. hahaha I've been known to use the tub as my melt station before. Sooooo....your probably not far off.
  10. "scrumptious cedar hedges" haha. I didn't know they had a moose for an editor.
  11. to the shelter that doesn't fit in car. I'm looking at my packed up Eskimo in the sleigh and wondering where the hell I'm gonna put it inside the condo in the winter.
  12. The full arm jig is what I use for walleye on Nip as well. It's a great feeling when you go to sweep upwards and the rod loads right up!
  13. I think some local CT's are better than others and ours in NBay seems to be getting better. They had good quality brands like Rapala, Frabill, Fenwick, Clam, Jiffy. If your looking for the best, you won't find it here, but it's not embarassing to shop at CT for ice fishing gear.
  14. Pike- around 40" Walleye-around 25 Perch-around 14 Bass - Around 20 Smelt-around 10 Brookie-around 15 Rainbow-around 20 Laker- around 20 Ling - not sure but must be around 32-35 white bass- 16 sucker- around 18-20 EDIT: Splake - 18 I don't measure most of my fish as you can tell....not easy to do from a canoe You got lots of species on your list! Well done!
  15. fine I watched it.... hahaha good stuff Jacques. Love that old Toyota?? truck (or was that nissan?)
  16. So you look forward to bar rush teenagers yelling at 3am as well? We gotta get out this winter...more than just the Nip g2g
  17. D'oh! actually that was the picture taken last year before I even had them on the ice once. I face them down now that I know....these things work like a charm and I can't wait for a big laker to start peeling line off as I run like a madman and trip all over my own feet and spill my beer and throw my gloves 30 feet in some random direction.
  18. Agreed! If you need any parts, I've got the contact information to the manufacturer in Toronto. They can supply any part for very cheap....like 50% below retail. As far as the living room, I suggest checking with the wife and asking her first if her friends are coming over...it can (has) create a bit of a situation Hut dimensions are: Height=68 inches Width=58 inches It looks perfect for two people, tackle and a couple pops. The auger is also extendible...I've only bottomed it out once and that was in far north Alberta. It's extremely light and easy cutting. Just like WD said, i've yet to find anything better for lightweight, cutting and portability.
  19. New knobby tires on truck Hand auger with new blades, spares and a blade cover New Northland ice rod paired with a Sahara 1000 and 8lbs ice line. Tip-ups spooled and ready to rock. (build by TroutJunkie) New Eskimo Quickfish2 w/ sleigh and cover. (fits perfectly in condo!) Boots, bibs and and stock of handwarmers All we need is ICE!
  20. One of the biggest issues with this proposed quarry was the loss of food bearing land. They would be trading potatoes for backfill material. Near-city farms are very important! It's like trading corn for car fuel
  21. I've caught my fair share of walleye and your fish is about 6lbs heavier than my PB ....well done!
