  1. Good debate except for the fact that we stepped all over the OP's original topic. Sorry about that Shloim
  2. You may want to ask Irishfield (Wayne), I believe he has been there and posted a report on fishing there. If memory serves me correctly just stay away from the beach next to the runway
  3. Simma down now Your splitting hairs on what a wage is. As far as what deserves a tip is entirely up to you. The way I look at it, if I was happy with the service, felt like I was treated special and learned something from the experience I would tip.
  4. How can you say that a guide that is an owner/operator does not work for wages? They not only work for wages, they have to pay for the boat, bait, equipment, dockage, insurance and any other cost they incur. What's left they pay taxes on and that becomes their wages. Any guide offers a service, if one is happy/unhappy with the service rendered it is up to that individual to tip or not to tip. IMHO if I was happy with the total experience the least I would tip would be 10% and might go as high as 20% EDIT ADD: This same kind of debate comes up about tipping bush pilots.
  5. Tipping a guide is no different than tipping a waiter/waitress.
  6. Well done Mr Parker Hard to believe your children are growing up so fast.
  7. Good report Wayne, glad things went well. Jen is an amazing person, thanks for the update
  8. Well done Solo I've done the Caravans twice, nice rides. First time took off on a regular runway and landed on the water which was a first for me
  9. It's been raining here al day. I can't remember getting this much rain this time of year. It's 55F as I type which is extremely warm and the warmest it's been all day
  10. Clive just don't go messing with the digits please Edit: What no Tarpon???? those were some epic reports from the BVI
  11. BillM you are correct. The past two years gas has been about the same price when we've made our annual trek to NWO at the end of May. Two years ago I bought a half tank of gas in the Vermilion Bay area for my truck and it cost me $92, our money was par with yours. I just filled up on Monday on my way to work, had about a 1/4 of a tank or so left, filled up at todays prices was $50.00 total.
  12. Diesel here is always higher than regular unleaded gas no matter what time of year. Since the freefall started regular unleaded gas has dropped $1.70 a gallon, diesel on the other hand has dropped 50 to 60 cents a gallon. It's been good on the wallet lately, maybe not so much for people invested in energy funds.
  13. I saw that earlier this week, what a shame for most of those cars. The two in the garage are the money pieces, I believe one was one of three made and is worth between 10 and 15 million if I remember correctly. Had a guy in the area that was a horder, amassed a nice collection of early Mustangs, most sat in the same space for over 30 years, most sat and rusted. His property along with a bunch of land around him was annexed by a small town and after a couple years he was made made to clean up a eye sore he created.
  14. Not to sound sexist but beside Joey, Graftongal are as hardcore as they get for fisher women. I've seen both in action and it was a real treat.
  15. Met a nice gal, moved and is enjoying life. He's still a nice guy also
  16. Hang in there Wayne you've been a great father to an amazing daughter. Jen's strength and resilance has been spectacular. Thoughts and prayers continue
  17. Sounds like you lost a mentor and a friend. My condolences. May God bless
