  1. Love the rustic cottage Jacques. That's what they're supposed to look like (vs 'summer homes'). BTW, we need some bigger bass. I hate to tell you this, but you need to go back there. Cheers, Slayer
  2. Whew... I'm glad I read that twice  Slayer
  3. Looks to me like the proof is in the winning, but I see either a snapped rod or limb in young grasshopper's future. Nice to see you back Geoff. Now get busy and add our 60" of upgrades. Simon
  4. Nice work young one. Sorry for being a bit critical but your deck looks like an accident waiting to happen. Please don't take this the wrong way, it looks like you got some high priced equipment there. Thanks for the video. That was cool! Cheers, Slayer
  5. Thx. Fixed it. I had to add an OFC album to the account and make that one public. Should be working now.
  6. Well, I've been holding off posting any topics/replies for a while now as I am currently sitting @ 499 posts. The next one makes me a 'guide' and I am looking forward to receive all the free sponsor stuff and cash that goes with the title (feel free to pm me for my mailing address). I wanted to post something 'memorable/special (other than 'nice fish') and have been mulling over some ideas. I couldn't decide on any one in particular, so I will try to squeeze a few into this post. Most importantly, I have met many new friends on this forum and I look forward to growing 'wiser' together. I am also looking forward to meeting more new members in the weeks to come as we are still working on our 'trip trades' and 'charity charters'. And I can't forget about the odd good deal I've picked up through the classifieds as well as learning some new and useful tips through general discussion On a personal note; I have read and followed our members that have endured life changing challenges. I rejoice in their triumphs and grieve in their losses. God bless us all Okay, now on to fishing. I wanted to put together a fancy dancy you tubey thingy with music and all that jazz. I made an attempt. It didn't go well, so I thought I would just post some of my favourite fishing photos, in no particular order; [/url] click on this link
  7. Blair, Our sincere condolences to you and your kin. I cant think to add anything that hasn't already been written above. I hope many years from now, my grandchildren will remember me with fond memories and a kind tribute such as yours. You are truly blessed by a great man. Sincerest sympathies, Simon & Sean
  8. All the best to you Paul on your birthday BTW, I thought I would remind you that I'm sure I read on one of your posts that the boat was an early present?? Just thought I'd throw it our there for the Merclady And just to remind you, I have your present waiting for you. It's on the boat. In Streetsvile. You'll have to come and get it. Happy Birthday Bud!! Regards, Simon
  9. Yes Richard, life is good. As long as you remember that every day you wake (and you will), nothing else matters. Except maybe fishing. Cheers, Simon
  10. Sorry Boys, I gotta vote against Tony & Andre @ Divers Nook. They have decent live bait (a little steep price wise) but are extremely skinny/limited on the tackle side (ie. zero Raps, Live Target, limited terminal tackle etc). Plus given the fact that I hate, hate, hate CTC ( I really hate CTC), I make the effort to go 15 minutes out of my way to support this young entrepreneur; Mactier Bait Tackle & More http://www.bassaholics.ca/Details/Mactier-Bait-Tackle-and-More.html His prices are very market competitive, and his selection is 10x what you will find @ Divers. It's a short detour of the 400 and you'll find the LCBO and Foodland in town. High street continues north to old 69 and you can merge back on the 400 At Airport Rd (link has a map). Besides, it's not much more of a detour than stopping in Parry Sound and it's a nice break from the highway drive. Home Hardware is also located there. This small town and young entrepreneur are very appreciative of our business. You'll feel better for meeting and spending there. Slayer
  11. Nice shootin' Vince. Good to see you're gettin' some practise in. Slayer
  12. Bill, Was that this am? Looks like a west fetch. Glad I slept in today. Thx, Simon
  13. Aaahhh, finally; Slayer P.RTRD
  14. I'm pulling for you SBK. Best wishes, thoughts and prayers. Slayer.
  15. Haaa! You know I was just kidding. Looks like we have a date.
  16. Actually, when I saw your original post about Salmon info I was thinking about offering up a trade. But I wasn't sure after seeing Paul's results from the musky outing. His musky looked a little on the small side Slayer P.RTRD
  17. Nice King Darren. And thx for the detail. I have yet to land a salmon on the wire, dipsey, SD & fly. 100% off spoons. The wire set up is the hot producer for us in the BZ though. Slayer P.RTRD
  18. Check this out http://www.silverlakecottages.com/accommodations/calendar.php I used to rent there quite frequently. The lake has some good sized pike and lots of SM/LM. No walleye but the rare little laker. You will probably be the only ones fishing the lake. Good docking facility. All cottages are clean and well maintained and there is a lot of space between them. All cottages are individually owned and they operate the property as a sort of co-op. Your gf will love it. I see that they extended there prime season to include the first week of Sept so they indicate that you need to book a full week. But based on the wide open availability shown on there site, I'll bet they will be willing to negotiate. Try contacting Brian http://www.silverlakecottages.com/accommodations/index.html he is the owner of cottage one and his sister owns cottage 5. He's a great guy and will work with you if he has availability. Tell him Simon referred you. This place is the best value for renting IMO. If you end up going, pm me and I'll tell you where the big ones hang out. Good luck, Slayer
  19. Hi John, Off my rigger rods I am spooled with 30 lb. Flea Flicker and attach a 4-5 ft 50 lb flourocarbon leader (Seaguar). Hope your feeling better with the cooler weather. Regards, Simon
  20. Depends on prices that you pay in Muskoka, Seguin or Parry Sound. I'd say they are cheaper than buying up there and their minnows easily survive the 2+ hour drive. I buy there all the time and have no complaints. Slayer P.RTRD BTW, not sure about 24 hrs but they open at 4/5 am during peak fishing seasons.
  21. Mike, In order: Your equipment is sufficient. Leave the crank baits behind. The only issue with a small boat is if you're running dipsey + dodger/fasher + fly = approx 5-6 ft tied off from the main line. Port Credit is one of the top producers in late August. Stay out of the pack, too much noise for the fishes plus congestion and dumb :asshat: Set your drag so a 10 lb + can pull line out vs. peeling it out at will. Your rod should bend as your line is line is pulling. Always allow some minimal pull after the main run and adjust your drag accordingly during the fight. Length of fight would be something like .5-1 minute for each pound of fish. Land your fish off the stern and maintain your trolling speed between 2.5-2.9 mph while landing/netting your fish. As mentioned, visit spoonpullers.com there is a wealth of information there and you have plenty of study/reading time until you go out. Also, pm me a few days before your trip. I'll be happy to share up to date/current information at that time. Cheers, Slayer P.RTRD
  22. HappyBirthday!! Nice fish. Slayer P. RTRD
