chose nto to take my riggers with me. Dumb dumb dumb. he lake was loaded with 'em. Then the cold front rolled in day before we go there, tough outing for sure.

  5. finally, documented proof that time flies while your fishing... I'm sure that felt like less than 10 minutes.
  6. sweet report. Bucket list 1 place longer. Thanks for putting it all together
  7. great trip, thanks for the report Gotta love those Northern lakes for quality and quantity
  8. nice shooting, as always Aaron; beauty collection there.
  9. nice shooting. Looking forward to getting out there again soon myself. Winds blew those plans off the schedule for today,
  10. interesting how the lake gets its name. I tried it.
  11. great report, that's beast your wee lass has there.
  12. sometimes, we confuse acquaintances with friends. Sometimes we make assumptions without enough information. You need to find out if that was your rod (question for you - did you notice it was missing before you saw it in this guys hands?) If it was your rod, then he wasn't your friend. If it wasn't your rod, then depending on how you discovered that, he will either be a better bud than before, or a friend no more.
  13. good goin', been a tough season out there this year
  14. Depending on the rain, you can get anywhere from a small branch to a whole tree down the river, but there are no rocks, and its up to 22ft deep down the center of the channel. There's a couple deadheads at the delta (run between 'em unless your fishing the cabbage / pencil reeds), and river channel does end fast - from about 17 to 3 foot in no time at all - but it stays around there so long as you stick to the middle. The skeg killers - if you are close enough to cast into 3 foot of water, be aware. Most of the points run well out into the lake, some boulders off the points will give you a big "OOOOOHHHHHHHH poooooooooop" if you aren't watching
  15. good suggestions. I have a SWR set up: about 25 foot of 12lb mono leader, 3 sections of core, and then a full spool of 12 lb mono for backing on a Shimano Clarion- the latter in case I get a king. It has been very successful with the eyes on Erie running off a planer board. You wont need anywhere near that much backing for the eyes - 150 yards would be sufficient for sure.
  16. you're cheaping out, and if it works, the loss of fish and leadcore will far exceed the cost of some backing and a reasonable leader. Just use a few foot of mono for your leader, and something decent for the backing. Depending on what you are fishing for ( and what lake) you may not actually need that much backing. A king is about the only thing that is gonna rip that kind of weight any significant distance - and if you are cheaping out when you are fishing for them, you may as well just drop your money in the lake without all the hassels of setting up the rod
  17. Nice job on the report Chad - thanks for taking the time to put that together. It was great to meet you and glad we could get onto our target species. Not tagging the walleye or Lakers this time just gives you one more reason to head back Each of us had a day when we were the fish machine, our lines blessed by the lady of the great lake. The beauty and power of this lake touch the soul. here's a few more choice shots we'll break that Laker curse when your ready to ply the waters of the Big O in a year or two when Super Mom and Abbey can share the fun.
  18. x2. A good lad there for sure Brian
  19. Stellar, as always. Thanks for putting it all together. Reading your and Moosebunk's reports is like building a fishing travel book - 100 fishing destinations to strive for. I honestly don't know how you get the time to do all these trips, and find the locations. Looking forward to the next Mike and Bill show - they always seem to have some unique experiences in the mix. Enjoy the trip guys.
  20. wow, cool reward for a great effort. Fantastic view
  21. Awesome. A memory I am sure that will bring back great times for each of you for the rest of your lives, and one your son can pass on to his in time. Enjoy
