Thanks Joey & Cliff. Brutal just barely describes the devastation last night. Several thousand dollars worth of product got exposed to heavy rains when the party tent was totally destroyed. I'll find out in a bit just how much was lost - probably all the tackle is still good (it is tackle after all!) but all the packaging will have been soaked. It's gonna be interesting and heart breaking at the same time - I spent over 2 weeks setting this up and it was wiped out in just a few minutes. More rain in the forecast too - just what I need right now. We will push on though - have to! Michael

About 6:45 pm an unconfirmed micro burst hit the Uptergrove area - took out BOTH of the shelters I was using for the yard sale. We've got one back up and tossed everything inside tonight. Garage & house roof have shingles peeled off, fire & hydro were both down Plum Point road for downed trees, lotsa green branches on Highway 12 east of Rama rd. My friends said they watched both shelters inflate then flip over. Party tent is destroyed but the portable garage just flipped over end for end (one ground stake set out of four held) so we could get it back up again. Hope no one in the area was hurt - I was at home at the time (Lake St. John) and saw nothing up here but sure sped down there when I got the call! Guess I got a full days work ahead of me salvaging what I can - might be opening a little later tomorrow (wanna say LOL but ain't got it in me right now). Really hope everyone else came thru ok in the area. Michael

I've got a 7 pin on my van, use a 7 to 4 adaptor for the trailers I have - had similar & other problems. I suspected it might be the adaptor so I spent about 20.00 on a new reese adaptor with built in tester. Immediately told me there was no left brake or turn signal from the vehicle. Opened up the vehicle end of things and it was FULL of corrosion - ended up changing the whole thing out (about another 20.00 or so) and no problems since. Michael

It was great to see both of you Brian & Terry! Sorry I couldn't chat a bit more but as you saw I was jumping around quite a bit. Hope ya got the new gear smuggled in without too much grief ha ha ha! Michael -
Not after I whack them over the head with a club on the cleaning table.... no study done to confirm this, P3ta volunteer ran like hell when they determined how I proposed the experiment should go Michael

anybody looking for a portable shelter...great deal

After being told by the courier yesterday morning there was NO WAY it was going to be delivered before Thursday or Friday, I moved the party tent I have (after emptying it out from sorting & pricing) out front and started setting up. At 3:15 a cube van comes roaring in and delivers the garage. So, I got it might as well use it, set it up today for my friends to use for their stuff. Kinda neat the way it goes up but it does take 2 people minimum and no way can in be done in 15 minutes, at least the first time! Instructions seemed to be a translation into english after a trip through a couple other languages. Overall I'd give it a pretty high rating. Too bad they're sold out now! Michael -
High tech looking ain't it? Ya need a license to run that? I gotta 20 walmart thingy that takes a paper filter & folger's - don't look nothing like that at all. Not an espresso fan myself but that sure looks like it'd get the job done right! Michael

Yes I read up on that about them - and I've see a few around me that came down last winter for that very reason. For me it was never supposed to see snow Lew - ordered it to use on yard sale the next couple weeks, then as a temporary workshop for a couple months only because I would have had it for the sale. Just not meant to be I guess! Michael -

So I ordered it sunday - was supposed to come today. Called them yesterday when I didn't get a shipping notice and was told it was being processed. Called today and was told it'd be 5-8 days and the earliest they could attempt to locate and/or expedite would be tomorrow. Wish they'd said that online - might not have bothered as I wanted to set it up tomorrow -dang! The only thing they could confirm is that it was ordered from the vendor in Quebec . I did notice that early yesterday morning the website was reporting out of stock, which I mentioned, but they assured me I was getting one. Funny how it came off my charge card Sunday tho.... Just did a quick search on giggle - observatory seems to have closed for a while & reopened in '07 in full operation - lotsa events to go to. Michael
-
Thanks Chris! I have at times wondered if it was even still there - the land must be in high demand I'm sure. Michael
-
What a difference! I remember a field trip in school way way back when to the observatory and it seemed like a long ride in the country on the school bus from east end T.O. Also, I seem to recall the observatory having said it would cease operations at one time - due to "light pollution" caused by urban sprawl. That too was many years ago, the late 80's or early 90's. Wonder if that's a reality now? Michael

You see anything wrong with this picture???
cheaptackle replied to Fish Farmer's topic in General Discussion
I'm personally not taking issue - I was merely curious on whether it was a point of law purely from an interest point of view. I agree we've more important topics perhaps, but this post was titled "see anything wrong" which to me is asking for input, perhaps to confirm the OP's own thoughts or to hear if it is an issue. Never hurts to ask and learn. Michael -

I'm not 100% sure but isn't it a federal offence to fly another flag above the Canadian flag? Pretty sure it's the same south of the border too. Wonder if these might be american "sunbirds" summering up here and just don't know any better? Michael -

Just ordered mine - supposed to be here tuesday. I'll be setting it up for yard sale purposes - have a party tent with walls but I have it set up out of the wind - this shelter should be better out front nearer the highway - at last I'll be getting rid of all the leftovers from when I had the booth yaaaayyyyy!!!! How did they ship it to you? I can only find one thing on this shelter on line and that' s that it weighs 230 pounds - not sure I believe that! Have you set it up as yet? Thinking I want one but would like to know a bit more. Thanks! Michael -
Bought mine here and did the job myself - full service shop if you want them to do it: http://www.jtstopshop.com/ Michael

Loose clamp jaw on the trailer coupler? There should be a big lock nut on the bottom you can try tightening a little at a time for this. Other options all involve making sure all hardware is tight - winch & mast, nose roller etc, bunks even. Something has to be loose in order to move would be the way I'd approach it. Michael

Plano thin boxes in tackle bags all the way for me- I must have 60 of them now! I prefer the smaller 3600 series - just seems a lot more convenient and I can get about 7 of the thin boxes in a bag vs 4 of the deeper ones. And yes- I do have more than one bag! Michael

If you mean Rocky's in Orillia he was open when I drove by there Thursday. Unless all the stuff for sale outside the door was free... Michael

Where to buy Walleye harness components
cheaptackle replied to manjo39's topic in General Discussion
You're very welcome. Like I said it's only good if you're buying in bulk - the cost study I did was for hundreds and hundreds of items I was making when I had the market going - practically a years worth at least. And no surcharges were applied either - exports to canada were not charged that so only postage, clearance fee and hst when it arrived (that was in fall 2012). Michael -

Unless they've changed their policy in the last year or so I believe you can order less than minimum quantity for just 1.00 per line item and still get the (500 or whatever) minimum quantity unit price - so if 500 pieces were 10 cents each (50.00), 100 pieces would be still 10 cents = 10.00 plus 1.00 for a total of 11.00. I had gotten a couple quotes from them for stuff I used to make & sell at the market. Shipping via usps with clearance (now 9.99) thru Canada Post (CBSA?) still made it cheaper than Luremaking.com BUT quantity does dictate! I did a comparison with Luremaking and what I would have spent around 1500.00 with them would have been around 850.00 with Hagens - including exchange etc. Michael
