  2. Even i am a little worried fishing might get put on the back burner for a bit....lol.....should take me a week to get the new sled out of my system then business as usual! SODS LAW i think they call it Rick(melting/lack of snow). Hey....me and my bud intend hitting lower Manitou a couple of times this year.....thats kinda half way down to you....we have to get out together soon....this is ridiculous!
  3. Yes....it is the stinkiest thing known to mankind. I lived in Sweden when i was younger.....they have something very similar called Surströmming. I remember my parents opening a can with some dinner guests....the next 2 hours was spent dry heaving...really gross!
  4. LOLOL....i was wondering who would make that comment....touche! LOL...i am gonna get stuck at some point....its gonna be a steep learning curve for sure....but it will teach me how to avoid situations i guess. As for gym membership....not a bad idea. Thanks man. LOL...yup....like i always say...life is not a rehearsal Too funny Brian! This might be an issue. Yeah....would love that for sure. Please send a big thank you to Paul for me. His input was pivotal in my choice of sled, really helped. This certainly will be a learning experience. But an enjoyable and comfy one as you say. I think i will be riding a bit more than i used too....my sled before was just a tool to get to where the fish are. Thanks Dan. LOL.....I was very nervous leaving him on there with it running....brakes were on and he got a stern lecture not to touch anything! Yup...before he gets that i see a few older elans etc being his.
  5. Hey all, thanks for the replies....so pumped getting this. Yup....call the helicopter if she gets stuck! I think a few people have even gone so far as to call it 'sexy'.....lol. The power on this thing is scary! I need to break it in for 300 miles....so a bit of riding to be done, but my resident beaver friend downed two giant birch. They fell down the bank to the lake....so ill get them attached to the sled and see how much ass it does haul soon. Thanks DB! No kidding......she is P....O....W....E....R....F....U....L!!! Thanks 2cool, Its definitely a bit scary, i will be careful. Yup....getting to and from the lakes is gonna be a joy this year....cant wait till lake trout opener! What purple beast??lol. Dont even go there on the patio doors....friggin Home Hardware took 7 weeks to deliver me 'New Build' instead of 'Renovation' doors (i.e. wrong size), then tried to say it was my fault....yeah right! Been waiting another 3 weeks so far for the right ones to be delivered....pain in the butt! Cant wait to take mine for a longer haul ride Dave...it's comfy as hell, and from the little i can tell of it so far....there is no 'lag' in throttle response as i had heard....seems pretty darned respnsive to me....it will lift the skis if you try to pull away in low gear without a load attached....first wheelie i ever pulled on a sled took me by surprise for sure!
  6. Hi all, Got my new sled home from Winnipeg last night. Did not have much time or snow for a long ride...but Jack and me took it for a spin on the lawn. Put Jack down for his nap and then took it for another spin.....OMG...this thing is PURE EVIL I LOVE IT....the torque is scary.....awesome machine.
  7. Absolutely awe inspiring, just made me think how much of a blessing our kids are....thanks Jen...thanks Wayne.
  8. Thanks guys....will call dealer in the morning...see if they will give temp plate....otherwise ask for VIN and bill of sale to register before i go and get my plate.
  9. Hi all, Picking up my new sled and trailer in Winnipeg on Thursday. Trailer is brand new...will it have plates already?....am I good to use it unregistered from manitoba to Ontario? I am sure the dealer will know...but anybody here know the procedure....is there anything I need to sort out before I leave to purchase it and bring it home? Thanks in advance. Simon.
  10. Way to go DAD! Congratulations Dana...great news. You are really lucky to have those pics. LOLOL
  11. This is one of 2 32.5" walleyes i got this year.......my PB this year and ever.
  12. Agreed. The HT stuff is absolute junk. If you can...grab one or 2 of the Fenwick Elite Tech rods in a medium heavy action. They are $35 each...but for that price are the best I have used....the medium heavy covered all bases for me last ice season....walleye,Whitefish and lakers all easily enticed and tamed.
  13. Wow...youguys are getting more winter than us. Yup...slushy start for sure...only hope is that not much snow interest long term forecast here...but we all know how reliable the longterm forecast is We might check some smaller walleye or brookie lakes next weekend.....where and what you starting with? As for boots.....I have a 3 year old pair of Sorels...never had cold feet...like yours awkward to walk in...but standing by your line for a few hours andthey are wicked warm. There is a silver lining in getting some snow here.....I get my new snowmachines on Thursday....Test ride Friday on the lawn!

  15. Awesome post! Those boots look really good. We got snow last night....same night the lake locked up Oh well.....looking forward to your reports Chad.
  16. Great intro....welcome to the site Chris.....where do you ice fish?
  17. LOL Rick.......at this rate i will have to dewinterize the lawn tractor and give the yard another buzz cut! Hard to believe there is not a single flake on the ground yet eh?
  18. almost peed watching....funny as hell
  19. "hey boys....we're gonna need a bigger auger" :thumbsup_anim:
  20. Great video! FREEKIN PIGGY WALLEYE!
  21. I wish i could be more confident of the 600ACE.....but i dont want to buy what will be the last sled purchase for a long ...long time and end up underpowered. The E-techs do seem nice and really rip as you say....even though they are good on gas i think the market is heading in the 4 stroke direction. 19mpg on a 1200 is good enough for me. Thanks. I checked the stats.....its actually the E-tech that needs premium. Thanks a million Paul....same track W/L as the 2013.....the 4 Tech 1200 is 35lbs heavier than yours. Fantastic to get your input....actual rider reviews...cant get better than that. It really looks like a great sled....will call some dealers on Monday morning...see what they can do. We dont get much bare ice here, plenty of snow right up till a couple weeks before ice out. All i know is that i am getting a lot of feedback sugesting the 600ACE may be a little underpowered...maybe fine by myself not towing anything...but with a 3 man flip up with 200lbs+ of gear and a passenger...not so sure. Like i said my old XLT (600lb) could power through some insanely deep slush with a passenger and my flip up.....only ever got stuck once...that was from a standing start.....as long as you pinned 'it as soon as you felt the slush...you were good....so i'm more confident and practised at avoiding slush hazards the horsepower way.....the 4 Tech 1200 has plenty of HP and some awesome flotation with the 20"x156" track...not to mention the articulating rear suspension for backing up in deep snow (slush?). I dont want to get too obsessed with the 'slush' factor in my decision making process....but since i dont 'trail ride' and ice fishing is what its for it high on the list of essential capabilities. It does not harm that it is reprted to ride almost as nicely as a touring model, my wife and jack will appreciate that. I'll be fine then.....the wife hardly ever comes out with me and i dont think i even have as many as 3 friends....lol
  22. A real man would have matching pink gloves! Oh yeah....awesome fishes too as usual...great post.
  23. I hear ya Sinker...but I think it's a trade off between more likely to bog down in slush on the tundra but relatively easier to get out as opposed to less likely to get stuck but harder to get out when you do with the Expedition. Hey Paul, what are the specs on your sled...track length...weight....hp?
  24. Nice I'm guessing 3 weeks till we can get out here....bring it on!
