I was scared to do it for a long time....did not think i could. Used the patches and found it relatively easy (my wife would differ). Try the patches is my advice...there is a definite addiction to nicotine involved here....so this will help with the physical aspect of quitting. There is a mental aspect that is in my opinion the key to staying stopped. Keep it simple...remember a craving is just a feeling that will pass.....do whatever you have to do do distract yourself...even just telling myself this helps me to ride out the cravings. Its been a year and a half for me...i still crave them sometimes...but 99.999% of the time i dont even think about it....ITS AWESOME. GOOD LUCK....ITS WORTH IT. Oh...and another good thing...i have cash to spare for the first time in ages....the amount of new stuff i bought this year is amazing.

:thumbsup_anim: I know...the weather is nuts this year There is always one! Should have told him you were going fishing when he begged you to stay! Have not got the unit back from my bud yet....will do some time soon...just been hyper busy with the wife's new non existent schedule...she works when she works and we all have to adapt around it...oh well...at least we have jobs....lol! YEAH! A buddy of mine mentioned Sawbill for crappie....we are gonna have to meet up in the next couple of weeks me thinks. Cant wait to see your reports.....your gonna love it. (PS....get a 'graph' type fishfinder for the ice ) -
Hi all, howdy from the the tropical wilderness of NW Ontario. Well.....not quite tropical....but definitely warmer and less snowy than is normal for this time of year. Anyway....got onto the ice for an hour and a bit this afternoon, a good 8" of ice on the small lake i went to, lots of little pike but no walleye. Certainly beats thinking about how i cant ride my new snowmobile! The ice was BOOOMING today....watched as cracks appeared right under my feet....scary as hell....but fun too. So...ice season is on from here on out....temps look set to resume normal service from now on....still not much snow in the forecast....but there should be enough on the lakes for slider and cooling purposes by this time next week. WAS GREAT TO GET BACK ON THE ICE <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/sX_ThpY-xjM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

ONTARIO INSURANCE IS A SCAM! I was paying the equivalent of $700 a year driving my brand new Ford Focus ( i think they are called ZX Focus here). I had 9 years no claims bonus. When i moved here, they would not recognize any of my drivers experience and none of my no claims, even though i provided a letter from my UK insurer confirming my driving record. Basicaslly saying i was considered a 'New Driver'....what a load of crap. They wanted to charge me over $3500 for my truck(canyon). I manged to convince the broker here to get someone to aknowledge 4 of my 7 years of my no claims bonus....but they would only consider it as driving experience towards a 7 year threshold when my rates would magically go down. RIP OFF

Even i am a little worried fishing might get put on the back burner for a bit....lol.....should take me a week to get the new sled out of my system then business as usual! SODS LAW i think they call it Rick(melting/lack of snow). Hey....me and my bud intend hitting lower Manitou a couple of times this year.....thats kinda half way down to you....we have to get out together soon....this is ridiculous! -
Is this the world's smelliest fish?
limeyangler replied to kickingfrog's topic in General Discussion
Yes....it is the stinkiest thing known to mankind. I lived in Sweden when i was younger.....they have something very similar called Surströmming. I remember my parents opening a can with some dinner guests....the next 2 hours was spent dry heaving...really gross! -

LOLOL....i was wondering who would make that comment....touche! LOL...i am gonna get stuck at some point....its gonna be a steep learning curve for sure....but it will teach me how to avoid situations i guess. As for gym membership....not a bad idea. Thanks man. LOL...yup....like i always say...life is not a rehearsal Too funny Brian! This might be an issue. Yeah....would love that for sure. Please send a big thank you to Paul for me. His input was pivotal in my choice of sled, really helped. This certainly will be a learning experience. But an enjoyable and comfy one as you say. I think i will be riding a bit more than i used too....my sled before was just a tool to get to where the fish are. Thanks Dan. LOL.....I was very nervous leaving him on there with it running....brakes were on and he got a stern lecture not to touch anything! Yup...before he gets that i see a few older elans etc being his. -

Hey all, thanks for the replies....so pumped getting this. Yup....call the helicopter if she gets stuck! I think a few people have even gone so far as to call it 'sexy'.....lol. The power on this thing is scary! I need to break it in for 300 miles....so a bit of riding to be done, but my resident beaver friend downed two giant birch. They fell down the bank to the lake....so ill get them attached to the sled and see how much ass it does haul soon. Thanks DB! No kidding......she is P....O....W....E....R....F....U....L!!! Thanks 2cool, Its definitely a bit scary, i will be careful. Yup....getting to and from the lakes is gonna be a joy this year....cant wait till lake trout opener! What purple beast??lol. Dont even go there on the patio doors....friggin Home Hardware took 7 weeks to deliver me 'New Build' instead of 'Renovation' doors (i.e. wrong size), then tried to say it was my fault....yeah right! Been waiting another 3 weeks so far for the right ones to be delivered....pain in the butt! Cant wait to take mine for a longer haul ride Dave...it's comfy as hell, and from the little i can tell of it so far....there is no 'lag' in throttle response as i had heard....seems pretty darned respnsive to me....it will lift the skis if you try to pull away in low gear without a load attached....first wheelie i ever pulled on a sled took me by surprise for sure! -
Hi all, Got my new sled home from Winnipeg last night. Did not have much time or snow for a long ride...but Jack and me took it for a spin on the lawn. Put Jack down for his nap and then took it for another spin.....OMG...this thing is PURE EVIL I LOVE IT....the torque is scary.....awesome machine.

Hi all, Picking up my new sled and trailer in Winnipeg on Thursday. Trailer is brand new...will it have plates already?....am I good to use it unregistered from manitoba to Ontario? I am sure the dealer will know...but anybody here know the procedure....is there anything I need to sort out before I leave to purchase it and bring it home? Thanks in advance. Simon.

Way to go DAD! Congratulations Dana...great news. You are really lucky to have those pics. LOLOL -
This is one of 2 32.5" walleyes i got this year.......my PB this year and ever.
-
Agreed. The HT stuff is absolute junk. If you can...grab one or 2 of the Fenwick Elite Tech rods in a medium heavy action. They are $35 each...but for that price are the best I have used....the medium heavy covered all bases for me last ice season....walleye,Whitefish and lakers all easily enticed and tamed.
