  1. Thanks Mike....Jack calls those clams "zebra lip Michelles" its a long story....lol Thanks Jacques...dont happen often but all my biggest fish have come from the front lawn! Thanks Dan...i love that rain shot too....and i take that as a great compliment coming from an excellent photographer like yourself. Its the only way drew....the only way....and i know you know that! Its definitely a bonus! Thanks HH!
  2. Thanks for the replies folks. Thanks man...and by the way...i really want to take you up on your offer of a shot at Lake E or Lake O while i'm down...that would be awesome! LOL...yeah it is Sean....mum and jack were at the window laughing when i raced up the hill, Mum told jack to "wait and see dad running in a minute" when the rain started ...and sure enough here comes dad running his arse off.....jack thought it was hilarious. Thanks Paul! Hard to beat that one this year i'd think...now i can relax and fish....lol....pressure off. (pressure...yeah right!) If i ever move it will be a sad day Chad....thats for sure. Thanks Brian....they are getting closer by the day....Roloff now responds to jack calling him. EEEEESH....OUCH! I feel your pain...did my skeg first year here....harsh way to learn where the reefs are eh? I was thinking the whole time about how similar our weather was that day...you had posted something on your status describing exactly what was happening on the ground here too. A world record would be nice....but i am not resting on my laurels....i know you have plenty of 30"ers+ out front of yours! Thanks dude!
  3. LOL...Thats my fault Jacques....i had not set the post options correctly...should be able to view now.

  6. Hi all, Well Havtaflyfish and myself made the bumpy, hour long trek to Lac Seul for some walleye action. I knew a couple of the lads camping at the landing and right away they warned us the bite was slooooooow! I had kind of anticipated a 'tough' day because of the wacky weather we have had this year it was gonna be anyones guess where they were. I did try conventional wisdom that they would still be shallow.....they certainly were still shallow on my home lake....but then again my home lake does not really get more than 35'FOW. We started off shallow...and after a good couple of hours and enough pike slime to make even an American sick (lol)i remembered that the year before last we had also had an early ice out and discovered the fish on their deeper summer haunts by opener, i even remembered catching a few whitefish that year. So we headed off to my deep water spots with low expectations but renewed hope. Not long after anchoring up on the I-pilot we started to get 12"ers out of 30-38'FOW. The action was steady with a steady increase in size upto some nice slot size fish. However the slot size fish were scarce and the over slot size fish non existant, so we moved on to another 35' FOW reef i know. Straight away normal service resumed...and at last Havtaflyfish got into a nice 26" Lac Seul hog...followed by a 21"er shortly after. Even better was we both got into a whitefish....they fight awesome on open water too. I counted 43 seperate clips of fish caught for the video and i say i probably did not film about 20 to 30 fish caught. So....all in all a good numbers day but the big ones eluded us. One of the 21" males we got in 39'FOW had the ole sperm flow goin still.....but that was the only sign of spawn activity we saw. I'd say they are done...surface temps between 54F(main lake) and 62F(sheltered bays). We got an excellent limit in the cooler of 17" walleye....man are they chunky munkys...really solid fish. When we got back to the landing the boys camping there wasted no time telling us they had landed a 28"er right from shore in about 5'FOW....guess they are shallow too and we were just not in the right shallow areas! Water level is way down on....stumps iknow showing an extra 4-5' above water line. Near the end of the day the wind picked up and the fish all but disappeared/stopped biting on the deep reef...we moved back to the other deep mark where it was shallow and got our last 2 fish for the cooler in 23'FOW before heading home. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/He2-wpfHUf0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

  12. Hi all, Well....had a great start to the walleye season with my family from the lawn today. Weather was absolutely foul most of the time, thunder, lightening, rain and gale force winds and even bright sunshine! My wife was in between night shifts so was sleeping off and on but managed to join me with jack for a couple of hours at lunchtime. I fished off and on too because of chores and rain but it turned out to be a perfect if not highly interrupted session. Caught 3 nice eaters and missed a bunch too. Got one 20"er and a fantastic 29.5"er to get my season of to a red hot start despite the less than red hot weather. Bait was jig and minnow. Also got a whole load of pike including two really nice ones, one that snapped me off might even have been an upgrade on this season's PB of 35". I am off to Lac Seul in the morning....lol....kinda think maybe i should save the gas and fish from home again...lol....NAH! Despite all my bigger fish coming from right off the lawn (32", 31" and now a 29.5"er) the numbers of quality fish that you have the potential of catching on Lac Seul is far superior to my home lake IMO.....anyway...its fun to change scenery. Should have another fine report tomorrow evening. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Bd0raqLtd58" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

  15. Great report...the only time i have fished the big lakes we caught most of our rainbows on blue/silver spoons too. Fascinating read for someone who rarely fishes more than 30FOW....mind boggling actually. A couple of very capable looking fishing partners you got there. Great fish....great fishing...you had an action packed day....nice one!
