  1. i only run a 30hp yamaha. I dont go very far anymore, lucky to have the lake at the bottom of the yard but its still half a 25l tank to my fave walleye spots....adds up in a hurry. I definitely feel the pinch. Looking for sponsors....lol
  2. Hi all, The ice has all but cleared from the front of the house. On sunday/monday/tuesday we have high winds and rain forecast...that will be the end of it. The weather has been great here the last 2 days and evenings have been spent with Jack and mum casting from shore, love the early ice out....NO BUGS BITING! I have been setting up ice out pike rigs with a great big sucker minnow while Jack has been casting his combo rod with a jig and minnow. Jack beat me to it this year landing the first fish from our shore...a respectable 27" pike! He was reeling in and said to mum...."its stuck on something...i need help", mum grabs the rod to realise right away its not stuck but has a fish on! Mum reeled it in but Jack's superior jigging triggered the bite! WTG SON! Roloff is slowly getting braver and venturing deeper into the water...but the water would still be a bit cold on the ole nutsack so i dont blame him for not fully taking the plunge yet! Anyhoo....here is a pic of Jack';s Jack and some iceout/Roloff/random yardfishing pics from yesterday and this evening. WTG JACK!
  3. Not all.....should have made that clearer. As far as i can tell it works with the Terrova and Powerdrive (newer models) and the saltwater Riptide model, i guess becauase the others are cable steer? Anyway...HERE IS MINNKOTA WEBSITE LINK have a look.
  4. hesitated for about .0000000001 seconds....i agree....far too long!
  5. Now there is a feature i might sign up to...mind you there would be some people you would want to block on your list!
  6. . Dont quite know how i feel about this....even if they could hook up my i-pilot to a polarised version i still dont think i would wear them....lol. But a perfect example of everything i hate about pointless 'metrosexual lifestyles'. Anyway....Ciao....we must do lunch sometime....mwhuh....mwhuh(air kiss on each side)
  7. Pimp....hmmmmmmmmm.......that makes you my? LOL..... Its all fun and games now, but its gonna make waiting from next weekend till 3rd saturday in May even harder!
  8. Hi all, Went back to Eagle Lake after taking a half day off work as a last minute decision. My buddy Garnet came along...we got a limit, a few swapped up and not as big as the other day but fish for supper...cant be beat. Another good thing is my I-pilot arrived while i was in Winnipeg and it worked seamlessly! Locking on the spot and just fishing is amazing, i still dont trust it even though it held us withing inches of our spot all afternoon. All this effortless fishing will take a little while to adjust to. I now have the lock spot function figured out and am getting to like the Advanced auto-pilot feature (auto-pilot with GPS assist). We had fun saving a lock spot...moving a few hundred yards away then making the boat find it...cool. Next time out i am gonna familiarise myself with recording tracks....will be awesome on a few weedlines i know when the weeds arrive. TODAY'S VIDEO <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/nAT9yPUgc44" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> IF YOU HAVE A MINN_KOTA.......GET AN I-PILOT GOT SUPPER LIMEY'S HAPPY HOOKERS OFF THE MARK
  9. At work. My co-worker and boss are fine with me leaving early, and i have stat hours to cover a half day off. My son is at the sitters till 5pm, my wife is home anyway. The sun is out and my boat ready to rock 'n' roll....hmmmmmmmmmm....tough call.
  10. LOL......nice Bruce. Cute pups. my dog is definitely giving the cats a run for their money at walleye cleaning time!
  11. Its kinda of a looking like Garmin is the way to go. However the more i dig the more i find. This looks great for the price...my wife would certainly be happier knowing i was always contactable, WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?
  12. Doc and whiskey....i worry that because they are discontinued future software/maps etc will not be available....but i have heard lots of good things about the csx series both 76 and 60 series. In fact as i understand it the new 62 series was intended to bring the best features of those 2 'older' models together into one unit. dabluz...i have agree and disagree....i too owned an etrex legend, and yes it was accurate...but no way was it as fast as the 62stc. Also some features like 16gb internal memory with upto 32gb sd capability would definitely make the machine better than the etrex legend.
  13. Thanks for the replies guys. I too am leaning towards the Garmin for many of the reasons stated above. I have not had the chance to see the lowrance powered up yet but have held one and its ok weight/feel wise. Nipfisher and Fishindevil have brought up why i am considering the Lowrance units...(and yes blair....i too have been warned a lot about not touching magellan units) and that is because they support navionics. However Delorme for the same price as the Garmin offers really good mapping options plus a satellite messaging/text service too, but the screen is small and my eyesight getting worse. Anyone own a Delorme?
  14. Hi all, I am looking to buy a handheld Gps. I am leaning towards the Garmin 62stc or the Lowrance Endura Sierra Please chime in with any and everything you want to.
  15. Thanks for posting doc.....interesting thread. To answer your question Jigger, Cliff was using them as rainwear.
  16. I did say something to him, he still wanted to wear them At least he was wearing his life jacket all day. I was wearing mine all day too, dont usually but water temp was just below 4C (39F) and it would not take long to succumb to those temps if you went in.
  17. Hi all, got out in the boat today....can`t believe we did that in March! Target walleye........Mission accomplished. They were hitting the biggest minnows we had most aggressively. Even managed to `drill`a couple of holes in a passing ice sheet with our paddle. 15-18`FOW was where they were at today....jig and minnow the weapon of choice. VIDEO FROM TODAY <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/oIwzaYeAy9w" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> THE NEXT BEST THING TO CATCHING IS............. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/G16-HzXKGno" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> YUM!
  18. Hi all, Gauranteed way to get snow is to say the word 'boat' in March! Went for a drive looking for some open water yesterday........found some at Eagle Lake As soon as i got home i called my buddy Cliff to say 'GET THE BOAT READY!' We headed back today to cast from shore, with half a foot of snow on the ground!!!! Roloff got his first taste of fishing open water....he likes it! <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/7oehDYylrsI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  19. Welcome stainer...look forward to yer reports!
  20. At least Chelsea have an away goal for their home tie on Wednesday with Benfica, they could and probably will get to the semis, but i think Bayern, Barcelona/AC Milan or Madrid will be too strong for them in the semis.
