  1. I was talking to a long-time Lake Nipissing Guide today and he informed me that 20 years ago (when he guided) all the guides would kill every Sheephead they caught. He said they are ferocious bottom feeders and eat alot of walleye, perch, and bass eggs. They are not considered invasive but not really a sport fish either????? Are we as anglers allowed to cull them from the lake? Would it actually make a difference? From all the reports this year there are higher then normal ammounts of Sheephead being caught, and some well over 10 lbs.

  3. Happy 30th birthday Roy
  4. Mike, almost a year has past since I lost my grandpa and it was TOUGH to watch such a strong man wither away. He was truly my hero. Lost my Hereo. Like your Grandpa is, mine was also an avid outdoorsman. He joined is hunting party for the last time when he was 95. He didn't hunt but tended to the camp and kept the men fed. I believe he shot his last moose at age 86 or 87. No muskie up that far North though.
  5. My house is less then 2 minutes from the mall, but we were at the trailer in Sturgeon Falls. Yep she gets nasty when the wind blows the full length of the lake.
  6. Nice report. Too bad we couldn't meet up.
  7. We see that every year in our marina at Glenrock (on Nipissing). The little kids catch mom a few times and let her go. She swims right back to her babies.
  8. Pete, I use a Calcutta 400 for trolling and a Currado 300 DSV for casting. I can cast with the Calcutta but the DSZ is so much smaller and easier on the arms. The reels were used ALOT by a guide friend of mine (see my signature link) and they were serviced and re-spooled before I bought them. They came with a 1 year warranty and so far I have had no issues with them.
  9. "I got it on Camera" that's too funny.
  10. That area (Yes I got a pretty good idea what reef it is) has been producing this year. There was a 34 walleye morning from one boat at our park. Sunday guys went out and only managed 5 with 4 in the slot.
  11. Simon (Limey Angler) refers to pike as "Yak Fish" and "Lawyers"
  12. Liking the summer hair cut bud. Glad you had some fun fishing.
  13. Glad you are keeping the family traditions going Alex. Also glad to see you taking a moment to post on here. Youtr dad's death was a great loss to this community as well. Hope you had a great year with hockey and hope you have a safe summer on the water. PM me and maybe we can hook up for a fish. Blair
  14. PM Randy From Sturgeon.
  15. As a dad of 2 boys I am sure that time spent apart is tough. Looks like you found the solution in "great" time together. Love all the father / son activities. P.S. If Liam can't make it one weekend I'l come fish that pond with you. Sweet looking bass and sunnies.
  16. His original introduction presented himself as a young angler. He has also commented on having to ride his bike because he is too young to drive. I enjoy having RHF on here. G-Man has him beat on age anyways.
  17. Glad to see a report from you Cudz. We will all wait patiently for your next one. Take care of yourself and your family bud.
  18. Been there too MTP. Just started a new job and hopefully new career in May. Crossing my fingers it works out. Best oif luck and keep your chin up.
  19. PM Highdrifter (Fidel) about his leaders.
  20. K. Thanks Chris. Gonna try it out in September.
  21. We made it down to the waterfront just before noon. Had our gear but didn't fish. Boys saw the inflatables and b-lined for them. Met a buddy from university and had a short visit. My family had a great time and we loved the waterfront. We met up with Brian, his better half, and Gizmo for a few minutes then went to drop my oldest off at my wife's cousin's place as he will stay in Barrie for the next week as he attends the Mariposa training centre for figure skating. Nice to meet you Brian I hope you can use the floats. Thanks to Betty Ann for the cookies.
  22. Cedar rapids was what I was thinking about. I have seen a few boats run them during high water but those boats were on 14' aluminums with 9.9-15hp outboards. I have never tried for musky in that stretch.....gues I'm gona have to go visit again.
  23. That is a solid fish for 49" Rich. Nicely done.
  24. My buddies dad has a trailer at Green Bay Trailer Park. I have been up and down that stretch a few times. I believe you can only run less then 20 kms because of rapids. Oulette rapids are impassable by boat and the ones north of the park are challenging. When you can't run the North ones (can't remember the name) I believe you are confined to about 7-8 kms of the channel.
