  1. Hey Gallie, Here are pics of my mounted 43" x 17" Northern I got through the ice. Weighed 23.5 lbs. Gills froze fast and there was no way she would swim back down. $600 later she was on my wall. (In the 2nd picture you can see the treble hook she was landed on. 8# line and no leader.)
  2. How much? A Coors Light in Barrie cost me $4.80 and there was no dancing girls. Glad I'm not living in the South.
  3. Congrats to you and your bride BB. How the heck has she done it?
  4. New RESPECT for you "pinners". My shoulder is sore and my hand is still cramped. Thanks Brian and nice to meet you Lazlo.
  5. Rented a day hut from Ravenscroft Lodge about 10 years ago. Hut sucked and not one bite all day targeting lakers.
  6. 2 keepers and no slot would be fine with me. Heard of lots of perch in the 13" -15" range being caught this summer.
  7. New awnings aren't cheap. Minimum $1800. Looks like a 20'er (awning). Replacement costs for used ones are $300 and up on kijiji.
  8. Congrats. I have 2 of them.
  9. I have a Fenwick Canadian Methods Specialty Action Series Walleye casting rod that I purchased about 2 years ago. Last month it snapped near the top of the rod. I did not register the rod for warranty but I still have the doccumention that came with the rod. Fenwick offers "Lifetime Accident Replacement Program" Fenwick will replace the rod at 55% discount from current suggested retail price + $10 S&H. I will be contacting them in Manitoba this week. Gray_Wolf, what is the contact info for the location in Ontario?
  10. That just made me tear up. Absolutely beautiful.
  11. How about anywhere between Barrie and Innisfil?
  12. 84 views and not one suggestion?????????????
  13. I am registered for a course at the Kempenfelt Conference Centre in Innisfil from Oct. 1st - 5th. There are 3 of us from work attending together and I was hoping to find a cheap cabin along Simcoe to rent that will sleep 3 guys comfortably. I am hoping that there will be some good prices as the summer season has ended. Anywhere in the Innisfil area will do and it doesn't have to be on the water as we will be attending the course every day from 8am to 5pm and there would be little (if any) time for fishing. Hoping one of our Simcoe members can help me out. Reply in this thread or PM me.
  14. I haven't fished Callander Bay yet this summer but a worm harness, go-getter, or slow death rig set up off a bottom bouncer will get you some fish. PM me if you want other info. How big is your boat/motor combo? You can take an easy run out to the reefs at Waltonian for some good fishing.
  15. Congrats Nick. I'm gonna have to put a crib in my hut now. Love the name too Alexander is my oldest boy.
  16. Looks like you picked a good lake to buy the cottage on eh Ryan?
  17. Discount Bait and Tackle at the lights (corner of Hwy 11 bypass and Hwy.63 right in North Bay) has leeches right now. Kiddie corner to the Beer Store. The place Joey is talking about is Gramps. Awesome store.
  18. I have fished Nipissing for about 20 years. The fishing was better 20 years ago but has not "crashed". The ice fishing for walleye was much better then it has been recently but as Rod Caster points out the perch fishing is getting better. There are still plenty of walleye to be caught and 35 fish days are still possible. I read a report on another site where 2 people caught 132 walleye in one week.
  19. Fishing sounds good Dan. From what I can remember........I had a great time on my last trip to Minnesota. One of my best buds played NCAA Div. 2 baseball and golf at Bemidji State. Actually we went to South Dakota to a country music festival called We-Fest. Was an increddible lineup and Tim McGraw announced his engagement to Faith Hill at the concert and they did a duet. Good times.
  20. Lew, You'll have a "stinking" good time.
  21. Paul, I have seen people pausing as they reel the fish up to allow them to transition 1/2 way up then finish reeling them in. Also heard of people burping the fish. Not sure if either method is effective.
  22. Ask your park if you can dig a small trench approx. 2-3" deep and bury the cord in it? You can buy a heavy duty cord and it can stay ther until you leave the park.
  23. Thanks for all the comments. I have never killed a Sheepherad. I always let them go. Maybe I'll have to keep one and taste it. Randy, I'm getting the same reports. There were easily 80 walleye caught out of our camp this weekend. Probably 20 or less Sheephead.
