  1. Very neat idea! I'm still an old-school vest kind of guy, but this definitely has some good ideas!
  2. I have these on my truck. Look great, and only took 30 minutes to install. High quality at a fair price. http://steelcraftautomotive.com Price varies according to the ones you choose. Mine are 5"
  3. Dave is correct, You have a lot of things adding up to handicap your learning process. Poor reel performance New to the centerpin Difficult cast to learn Check out the videos for Wallis casting. It is better suited to the streams around the GTA, and no line twist.
  4. The bad thing is that your planned trip is in jeopardy. The good thing is that there is always something to fish for in BC! Just change gears a bit. Dolly Varden, Cutthroat, Rainbows, Steelhead, Bull Trout. You can have so much fun you won't miss the Salmon at all. Another big plus is all the inland wildlife. And the Scenery! Believe me you will be in awe! I'm just waiting impatiently for October!
  5. You will need two products to do the job right. One is the cleaner, the other brings back the water repellency. Either Graingers or Nikwax. Both do an equally good job, IMO. Similar pricing. NikWax can be bought at MEC, and I get Graingers from Sail. I do mine at least once a year with the waterproofing. It keeps the water beading on the surface of the gear. Waders and jackets
  6. Here is the easy answer http://www.fenwickfishing.com/Fenwick-warranty.html
  7. It's been mentioned previously but always good to get a reminder out there again.
  8. It sucked, then It was great, Then it sucked! Well done by both teams. I've got fingers crossed for the Jays in Tampa!
  9. Works fine for me Dave! Done!
  10. Passed by Hamilton west mountain around noon. Not much rain. About two minutes worth.
  11. After the strike, it has taken me this long to get back into the Blue Jays. But I'm there now, and will support them to the end of the season, wherever they end up. Good team this year, in spite of some of the stats.
  12. This event was poorly handled from the start. BUT, Don't blame the cops! We need to hound our MPPs as to why the MNRF is unable to respond to these events, in due course. It's all about the money. Especially since these events will be happening with more frequency, because of the cut off of the spring bear hunt. I was a hunter years ago. I would not shoot bears because my family would not eat them, and I didn't want a rug in front of the fireplace. I have no qualms about those who do, or did. The Province, and the economy lost a lot of dollars when the hunt was cancelled. The same groups that objected to the hunt, now object to the result of the handling of the bear problem. Their objection didn't help in the first place, and is no help now. Are they out there helping to raise funds for the MNRF to provide services to areas with over population of bears? In a word....NO! Don't blame the police. They were put in a position that is truly outside of their normal mandate, by the politicians who were pretty scarce when the event unfolded. Typically. Thats my 2 cents worth, for today.
  13. For those interested that live in the Hamilton Area, there are 4 at the Grimsby store, and 2 at Burlington Fairview. Grimsby has them at the sale price of $199. Pontoons are great. I have used them in Alaska and BC.
  14. Big Cliff I have found the Olive Garden has the best This is very close http://www.food.com/recipe/olive-garden-salad-dressing-food-network-kitchens-copycat-373848
  15. Beauty piece of tenderness! Enjoy the meal. (Chicken for us)
  16. A ton of years ago, when there were lots of Coho on the North Shore of Lake O, I went out trolling at daybreak, from Port Credit. It was a beautiful fall day. I had the preferred lure, (red flourescent Flatfish), and decided that I would fish till I finally caught one. 7PM and it still hadn't happened! There were a flotilla of boats everywhere! At times, I was surrounded by boats with fish on! I was afterall doing the same thing they were! And not a touch. Finally I did catch a beauty, but Man, it was a long day! Moral of the story is; Luck can change, but sometimes it takes a VERY long time!
  17. Send a request to Brad www.soonorthflyshop.com He can give you some general info.
  18. Kudos to the club and all who helped this be to a success
  19. Sun was brutal, and I hate sunscreen. It was me. Lol
  20. I got a few last night. Dundas store still had a bunch. What a great deal! And made by Plano is irritating. Why can't we buy these everywhere for that price? Maybe Dollarama has more power than Cabelas or Bass Pro? Or maybe it just adds to the bottom line. There are few dollar stores in many parts of the US
  21. My buddy and I had the pleasure of fishing for Cats today with Fisherpete. For those that don't know or have never met him, he is very personable, and knowledgable about the quarry, and the catching! For some reason known only to the cats, they were not anxious to get caught today. But catch them we did! Pete said we had to cast to the other side of the river, in order to interest the fish. Believe me he almost did! We caught a variety of sizes, but the biggest was around 15lbs!, the smallest would have been around 3 lbs. All were caught on Petes specially prepared, and carefully stored premium special.* I'm not shy, just careful of the sun. I hate sunblock stuff! Here are a few photos. *see Pete for recipe
  22. Obviously you didn't fit the dynamics for the search on first glance, and confirmed them after! I seem to fit the same criteria. Lucky us!
  23. Goretex is the best of the breathable fabrics, IMO. There are other less expensive brands with similar characteristics, but they all have one thing in common, and that is you have to take care of them, to maintain the breathability, and repellency. If you don't it's just a waste of money. I always hang the gear, (waders or rainwear) to dry when home, and wash in the approved method with either Graingers or Nik Wax products at least once a year. Waders usually a few times to keep them clean and fresh. I wont buy anything else.
  24. I'll bring the beer/wine and salad!
  25. What a bunch of Bull! That guy and a scale have never been in the same place at any time, while fishing......
