  1. Fingers crossed that you can beat the heat!
  2. Lucky you were able to get back by the looks of that last photo! Dave You are the most maintenance conscious person I know, based on your many posts. If that bearing issue crept up on you, it can/will do the same to the rest of us. Now that the snowmobile season is just about ended here in Ontario, and the boating season is set to begin, maybe this event will make us all take a look at servicing a very important part of our sport. Winter and summer.
  3. It was my first trip to the swap. I was very impressed with what was being offered and the prices. I will be back next year with a shopping list. Thanks Spiel for letting me know about it!

  5. Sure hope that the "well known perch restaurant" wasn't the Erie Beach! I've never had a bad perch platter there in over 40 years, however the Pickerel dinner I had a taste of a year ago was terrible! I'm glad I ordered the perch...
  6. If you are trying to save the person that bought the lures money based on shipping costs, don't! They enjoy a 25% bonus on their money which will let them at least break even on shipping costs. If you are taking them over to increase your profits on selling, then I'd still say don't. It isn't worth it. However, if you drive a F150 with a 36 US gallon tank, and like to drink beer, and want to take your wife out to lunch, then by all means send from the US. Go over with an empty tank. Gas right now is $2.41/gal. Beer is $10 for 12, and lunch at Olive Garden is wonderful!
  7. If you declare the goods on the way in, you will be subject to the law and the way the person you are talking to interprets it. if it's just a few lures, I doubt there will be much of an issue. If it's boxes piled up in the back seat, you will likely have to go through a customs broker, and bend over, if that's the case.
  8. Ford put Pirellis on my Edge. Far from good imo BUT Ford wants $300/tire for them. I had a nice smooth quiet ride home on the Yokohamas. And it didn't break the bank.
  9. Many thanks to all who had input to offer. I got a return response from John right away, and have to say I'm pleased with his offer. Saved me quite a bit over Costco, and dealers in Hamilton. Like the old add says, "It's worth the drive to Milton." Tires go on the car Thursday!
  10. I'm checking with John right now, and will follow up on the other suggestions. Thanks to all
  11. At the end of the day, I realize that in most cases, the price is the price. I guess I was hoping for the rabbit out of the hat deal, but doubtful that it's possible. I even checked south of Ft. Erie, and with the taxes and exchange forget it!
  12. Been there, done that, but thanks for the suggestion!
  13. I am leasing this Ford Edge, and the lease is up in a year. I'm going to be over the KM allotment, and It's going to need tires before I turn it in, so I might as well get the best of the tires through the winter. I just found out that 20" tires are not reasonably priced! I've shopped Costco for Michelins, and Can Tire, (all brands) and also Beverly Tire for Goodyears, and Yokohama. Seems that $1250+- $50 is what I will be paying. Anybody have any suggestions to save $50-$100?
  14. I'm not normally political by nature, but I can tell you no matter how the US election turns out it will bode poorly for us north of the border. More so if Trump pulls off the miracle. This is my opinion, and I hope I'm wrong.
  15. I've had the same experience, but with no feathers! Greased by a GBH is ok, anytime.
  16. Great shot and proof that where there is a will.....
  17. My mouth is watering at the sight of that, but hamburgs are what is on my BBQ. Enjoy your dinner!
  18. I'm still wearing G3 originally bought in 2004! They've been back to Simms for replacement of the feet a couple of times and repaired for leaks a few times as well, but they are still in use in the summer. I bought a new pair for the cold weather fishing a few years ago, and they were returned after a year to be checked out for pinhole leaks,(2), and foot replacement. All that is free, the first year. you only pay for the shipping to them. For my money, Simms are worth the extra dollars initially. The warranty that Patagonia offers is excellent as well if you are able to get a size that fits you right. Proper fit is very important to how the waders perform. Too long, or too short causes material fatigue quickly. I think in Canada Sail is likely the best pricing you will find especially this time of year.
  19. Sadly, pigs are everywhere. They don't care about the water, the fish, the access, the environment. My buddy and I regularly pick up after these pigs on our way back to the vehicle after a days fishing. Plastic garbage bags have become just one more thing we tend to carry with us. It never fails to amaze me how some idiots can carry a case of beer into the fishing spot, but not take out the empties? Or how heavy can a Timmies cup be when it's empty?
  20. The chances are that he is showing wind power is not as clean as the proponents would have us believe, I am totally against the huge towers with the blades. Solar makes more sense to me even though the landscape is altered. Those freakin huge windmills are a huge blight on the land. iMO
  21. Then you certainly did the correct thing! Painting sucks a lot more than east winds!
  22. From my experience with east winds, I never bothered going out in them. Learned very early the fish aren't interested, the passengers get sick quickly, and it's just a waste of time. Dave had it pegged at post #7! As soon as there are a couple of days of west winds, things will start improving IMO
  23. are you still ok Dave? It must be like watching the combine mowing down the grain in the field. Which way next? Praying for rain with no wind
