  1. It's only good where you don't shovel the snow Norm, or they dug it down 4' and powered tamped before installing... or Florida!
  2. Why Al, mines been down for 19 years and still looks like new around the pool.
  3. We have them at the lake as well... they're not all hers. These birds swim by another mother, with 5 or 6, and say " you want these kids, I can't stand them". Next thing you know one female has 30+ trailing her. The most we've counted at the lake is 43 behind one adoptive mother.
  4. JT Tops, in Midland, did my full main Lund top for a 100 bucks... including pulling all the bars and putting them back in. Probably a bit of a drive though, gotta be someone in the GTA.
  5. Sorry, still only takes a cast or two off my dock. Nothing has changed at my end..
  6. That is why I run 5 ' long release clip lines on the riggers, gives a much better indication of dragging a fish.
  7. Wasn't sure if you'd found your way in. Take off wasn't as fun, full power failure just as I lifted off the step. Spent 2 hours on that little island tearing a carb apart with a leatherman tool and putting it all back together!
  8. I haven't managed to kill a Merc yet... and I've had one since I was 6 years old... that being a 4 horse on the 8' wooden skiff that my 13 year old brother had built. There's an old '76 or so 9.8 in the boat house that still runs fine, and both Mercs on the back of my Lund have been ZERO issues. Nothing but oil changes the past 9 seasons. No matter the brand, there's always at least one dud... anyone see the car lift off the ground when Kyle blew his 50K engine on Sunday ! Merc or Yamaha, I'd run either. No issues with our 25 HP Honda either. As for trolling.. Downrigging speed it's the 9.9, Musky I troll the 275 for 10 hours at 3.5 to 5.5 MPH and then just power up and go home!
  9. You asked... I supply! Only way I'm going in there, but I'm told there's a pretty good ATV trail on the power line. I couldn't see where it turned off towards the lake. Lots of Rainbow fry around the island and told fishing in August is best.
  10. Well back to the land of black flies and mosquitos! Talk quitely... ;o)

Have fun guys keed the buggers up there and away from the West Arm in a couple of weeks..

  11. Yah.. we butted heads more than thrice... but yacked behind the scene all the time. The last PM I got from Steve he was worried about Jen, while fighting his own battles. The whole thing is sad indeed, but at some point we all unfortunately reach our expiry date. RIP yah crusty old bugger, you had a good heart behind all that fluff !
  12. That's good you found someone, so you're all set. Have fun, I don't even have my boat set up yet, been too busy cleaning up camp after 2 years of absence. If you see the wife and I out there in our blue 2150 give a wave!
  13. Haven't been on here for a week.. just home for the night to cut grass and get my airplane, then back North. Only have internet if Leah drags me to the Library!
  14. What are you saying Dara?? LOL, I know where most of the rocks are now after a decade+ on the lake. Just because the (1886) depth chart says you can run your balls at 100 feet doesn't mean you can! What's Rick charging you Sterling?
  15. DANG.. almost missed a fishing report. Great stuff Brian, you've got more energy that me!
  16. Sure.. sure they are Dave... in your own laneway maybe.
  17. DAMN... I don't want to remember half of what I knew anyhow.
  18. Age is creeping up with you... That said, it is supposed to be illegal to run open transom exhaust within 5 miles of shore. Tell that to any one of the 100+ scarabs running around the Sound on Gbay... yet they complain about my airplane taking off. Even had one of them show up in my yard, but he won't ever be back after I told him exactly where he lived and how short a swim it was from my f-in-laws dock to sink his boat.
  19. Yep... and burning as of this afternoon.
  20. Hard to believe #2 is required, but you definitely need #4 over the #6. For any that require some #4 that will never corrode, I'm talking 50 year old silver tinned copper for the days of quality in the aircraft industry, I have over 1000 feet of it. $3.50 a foot and I have the old quality lugs as well for a buck each, not the CTC copper crap of today that you'll pay 4x that for. I probably should just take all my spools to the metal scrap yard for MUCH more money, but until I do anyone is welcome to it. Just send me a PM.
  21. Not bad for a couple of old guys.. this one stayed dry today!!
  22. BTW... at the Collingwood boat ramp this week, guy and gal launching a nice boat with a brand new 2500 GMC. He got out to guide the boat off the trailer, she got in to drive and when he said WHOA, she thought he said GO and she hit the gas and put it all I the lake to the roof. Bosses truck that she borrowed for the afternoon...
  23. Pretty easy to drive straight past Foodland and right down the ramp there. Many (drunk) men have done so over the years...
  24. "Layers of protection" John, what are you doing lubricating the lining with Scotch ??
