  1. How does a man get dragged into a TSC store??? I make trips to Liskeard from TMag just to browse the store. Just wish they'd actually mark correct prices on stuff.. they'd sell more as 9 times out of 10 when you take something to the cash it rings it at 1/2 or 1/3rd what the shelf sticker said.
  2. Sounds like perfect conditions, Walleye chop and all !
  3. LOL Brian, and that was just the first night...
  4. Stihl oil even has stabilizer already in it.. so it shouldn't go bad. Have never had an issue with it, even mixed and sitting for a couple of years running it in my saws.
  5. Mister G, if I can get 13 years and going out of a pair of plow truck's batteries (truck sits 8 months of the year), 11 years out of my last airplane battery and heading into season 10 on my boat batteries, I'm not sure I need to read anything about battery maintenance.
  6. Bucket works fine as well, just hang them around the rim.
  7. The only drain that I found on my boat was my troll control unit for the kicker. After sitting for awhile in the hangar I walked by it one day and could hear the throttle servo hunting for home position, even with the unit turned off. Had wondered what killed the battery the year before, so I now pull the power head off the wires to the engine and no longer have any issues. I charge my AGM's for each engine just before the end of the year (after Musky fishing) and again somewhere in late Feb I give them a check out. Then again in May before heading for the lake. Trolling motor batteries get plugged into the onboard charger the same three times, paying careful attention that the lights cycle through to off within 12 hours. Then she gets unplugged. Also consider those leaving a cord up into the boat all winter are giving mice a perfect road!
  8. An onboard charger is not a "maintainer". It's designed to charge at high amps and shut off when done. As batteries get older they have a very bad habit of not shutting off and continuing to boil away with the last "count down" light still on and not shutting off. Maintainers, at least older models, have a bad reputation of sulphating batteries 'til they short out. I do nothing special, charge the batteries properly (after a load test) and let them sit for months. Repeat. Has worked for 40 years or so for me.. My plow trucks batteries are now both 13 years old, still both pull 1100 CCA as of yesterday when I checked them, then a full charge overnight so the truck can sit until Fall.
  9. Lost a water bomber today. Captain had a medical issue while in the circuit to land and the FO tanked the landing, no pun intended but she's not flying again anytime soon.
  10. You don't want any battery hooked up to a charger "at all times". You're just going to boil those buggers into submission at an early age. Season 9 coming up for my 4, all load test just fine @ 1000 CCA and needless to say they got neglected somewhat the past 5 years as well !
  11. Is the Tiffin marina not a man made, dredged slip with a breakwall. If so they likely have full control of it. Oceans and Fisheries has given up a lot of water, Midland and Penetang Harbours included. They had no issue with us fishing there in 2009...
  12. LOL..yep, skitters have been out for almost a month here in Ptang and the black flies have been thick for over a week. Once we get to Tmag they usually come out right about noon on the Friday of the long weekend, as they know that there is fresh meat coming to town!
  13. Ice finally came off our bay in Temagami last night and hub might be boatable by the weekend. Better get my butt in gear...

When it,s gone, well, you know,,,,,,,,,,

  14. All I can add is your problem certainly isn't going to get solved here, go see the guy.. you're paying HIM after all. See what the deal is for real and what the issue is. Could be something as simple as he thinks your family members should have registered with him, for all he knows the strange vehicle is stealing your boat. Not a lot different than a campground. You pay for your seasonal site and it includes you, wife and kids. Visitors pay extra to stay overnight. Others are not generally allowed to just show up and use your trailer.
  15. When are these race car drivers going to learning that blocking never pays off !?

  16. That's the time I went to bed!! Nice day out Brian!
  17. Don't understand what the SS screws are for OI.. and any that have been here any length of time know I'm "go big or go home" when it comes to repairs. Why did it crack?.. where did it crack.. is it actually cracked... is it a few rivets that had too small of a shop head and they pulled through and let the hull skin drop away from the mating flange? I'd need to see it before offering a correct repair, but I can tell you with 100% certainty that it wouldn't include any welding.
  18. Remember welding aluminum = 1/2 the original strength if you don't heat treat it again. WKRP... if you could only find it under 890 anymore.. LOL.. I've lost track myself as to whom owns sealpack, PRC.. etc these days and what product number it goes by, but it's about $100 a quart now. I have a fridge full of old quarts that people could borrow, or you can just walk into Rona and buy some Sikfaflex Sealant. It'll do the job as well with proper prep. Real question is why it started leaking. Crack or loose rivets. Not fixing either is just a recipe for more work later.
  19. I don't know... but mornings like that make it damn hard to land!
  20. WOW... and I'm just waiting for the door bell to ring. "Here your pizza"!
  21. Thankful for nuts like you, so I can see what that looks like!! LOL..
  22. Hell the sun was shining, good for him. When we lived up on Farlain Lake the old couple beside us use to be in the lake every weekend... during the winter! (just wish they hadn't made the run and back naked.... )
  23. ..as he picked up the hammer and saw ! Great stuff Brian... float tube pumped up yet?!
  24. Just when we thought we'd get early ice out everywhere.. up North stayed -10C every night for the past month and Temagami got 2 feet of fresh powder late last week. Still sledding on the lakes and Cochrane is still grooming their sled trails!
  25. Remember there is nothing illegal about making 10 million dollars in Canada, paying your taxes on it and then taking what is left over and putting it in a bank account in Antigua, Isle of Man, etc, or apparently Panama and letting it sit there. If they're not paying you interest there is no fowl.
