Had A Rough Weekend.....So I Go Slumming For Hamilton Carp.
Marko replied to CLofchik's topic in General Discussion
Nice report. Good to see that place is still producing, thought about going there late Saturday night, wasn't sure if the fish were still around. -
haha you must have touched him right!! Look at the smile on fishes face haha (probably thinking that's just what the doctor ordered) LOL Other then that nice fish

If i catch a fish on the first cast i wont catch anything for the rest of the day.
-
I know how to tie them but the line would either slip or snap whenever i had a decent fish on. Started tying them using braid and its been working out prety good so far. Each one of us got a fish last night, only 3 caught, it was kinda windy and chilly

Is there a website for D.A.M. Tried searching for it and since i am not sure what i am looking for i am striking out

Went out for a bit today, haven't fished in about a week, felt more like a year honestly, just had to get out. Dint go very far today, stay locally and managed few little ones. Managed to land about 7 of them, lost few on hook ups, all in all a good day. Oh yea and managed to go out for a swim....my stupidity and laziness sometimes fails to amaze me haha. Anyways here are few pics So i was standing on this tree stump in the water, looked fairly stable and safe to stand on. I saw a few carp swimming by around it so i had a brilliant idea to stand on it and take all my weights off and just toss a hook with some corn on it. I see one come towards me. I am thinking it cant be this easy so i cast and he hits the corn right away. Fought him for few minutes, managed to get him to the side of the stump and that's where i got "creative" I was too lazy to go grab the net and net the fish properly, instead i was going to hold the rod in one hand, try to balance myself and pull the hook out of the fish while it was still in the water with the other hand. Next thing you know the stump rolls over and i find myself in the water waist high. Too bad because the fish started to bite again, but hey lesson learned. Hope you guys enjoy the pics

Even if they were keeping everything they were catching, as long as they are within the regs its none of his business. Nobody has right to go up to you and threaten you because you are fishing on a lake, thats not privately owned, if they were trespassing then that's another story. If you cant call the cops to come and help you from a lunatic who the hell do you turn to then?

Hey Mike it was nice finally to meet you, same goes for you Paul and Dan and Memart (still not sure if thats your real name lol). Fishing was not the best but the company sure was and it was a great time on the water. Managed some fish too, Sorry i couldnt have stayed and chatted a little bit more, promised my friend to take them out fishing before i knew i was going to end up going to Bronte, it was kind of a last minute thing haha. Maybe next time.

when i see them surfacing like that i try baiting my hook with just corn and let it float around them. More often then not they will just kinda look at it and be like do you really think we are that dumb lol. Few times there were days when they would actually hit it.

Hej John if you want to catch some carp let me know, i could show you a thing or two so you can become one of us carpers. Free of charge of course . Plus we`d probably catch some fish
-
Nice array of fish you guys got there. Big nasty scar on that sheephead. Way to go fellas
-
If you want to use minnows and catch pike at the same time i would suggest a float of some kind. You dont want your bait to be down at the bottom when catching pike, all you`ll get into would be catfish. Good luck
-
Nice few fish you guys got there. Fishing from a kayak sounds like something that would make me a little paranoid but could probably get used to it. THats one dark crappie or my screen is dying lol. Way to go guys
-
From what i heard pike fishing there isnt what it used to be. Every year fish get smaller and smaller. Good luck to whoever goes tho!

I cant even begin to understand what would posses a person to do something like this. How screwed up do they have to be to abduct a child, who really has done nothing to them.
-
Beautiful fish man, love the colors on those little guys. Your nephew looks happy and that's all it matters
-
What kind of people do this.

Thanks for the replies guys. I found a bit of a hole i guess, thanks to Victor, but they are in there. I thought mirror carp would not have scales all over their bodies, just maybe a patch here and there but thats good to know. Victor i left a few for you, you just have to get some worms haha.

50 pike that's a good season for me and you and your buddy got them all in one outing. Nice going fellas
-
welcome aboard! The more carpers the better
-
Inconsiderate? There was nobody around me for miles
-
haha all fish were released lol. That was for my braid, dentist work is quite expensive lol

Decided to hit Desjardanis on long weekend ( Monday) what a mistake that was. Got there and i was actually excited to give it another go. Last time i went, I got my ass handed to me by those carp. Lost who knows how many in snags and break offs but hey its all part of fishing. Got there around 11 and it was packed. Seems like everyone who was there brought their kids out to fish with them, which there is nothing wrong with, but i don't think that's the place where you want to teach your 10 year old to fish. Watched some people fish for few minutes, noticed few 10 foot stringers floating around with who knows how many carp around and that's when it hit me that i made a mistake lol. Anyways people were casting across each other lines and nobody would pull their lines out if you had a fish on it was a mess. Decided to stay for few hours anyways, had to scoot bellow the bridge. Manage to land 3 and lost few of them, even more people showed up and decided it was time for me to go. Drove home to a spot 10 minutes from my place and these were the results. First one of two 26 inchers This guy had some nice scales, never seen them like this Somewhat of a close up pic of the same fish Managed few more This one was a fatty Few more And last but not the least, nice smally came out to play Lost two or three probably about the same size. All in all a great day, kinda bummed to see what went on in Hamilton but hey, when CO wont go around to these places not much i can really do. All fish were caught on fat worms, they would not touch my corn for some reason but hey.. hope you guys enjoy the report

Fish that you are chasing are bottom feeders so first thing you need to do is lose that bobber. Second i would change that line that came with the reel with something a bit better. If you are chasing carp try using corn and try researching hair rigs and how to tie them up. if you are chasing catfish, use worms or shrimp or chicken liver or sucker meat. good luck to you

If they go to catch and keep, which i think is ridiculous, whats going to happen with all the bass, walleye and musky tourneys. Would all the fish caught there have to be kept as well?? How many people would want to drive for hours to get to premium rainbow or walleye spots up just to get there and catch their limits within minutes and then have to turn around and drive back home lol. I think its crazy.
