A good quality cover is a custom cover made with Top Gun or Sunbrella material, Not cheap to buy but much cheaper and way better in a long run.

"If you think a qualified trades person is too expensive, try a non qualified one "

The average age of a trades person in HVAC trade is around 50, union wages for a licensed HVAC mechanic is over $46 an hour + benefits, non Union can't be that far behind, why aren't more youngsters taking this trade ? Besides some auto shops, most shops like machine shop, sheet metal, carpenter, plumbing, electrical have been closed in Toronto schools due to lack of enrolement. Kids just don't want to get their hands dirty these days.

Best thing is to call or e-mail Navionics, they are usually very helpful
-
You want water temps around 50 deg, target dark bottom bays with brush pile and structure like docks etc. depending on water temps you can almost site fish them.
-
what Navionics card are you using ?

I hear you Big Cliff ! Not all but most are "over grown babies", it is the society we live in these days, stand in front of any high school in the morning, most get dropped off right at the front door, you should see their cell phones and other toys, nothing but the good stuff. One of my co worker is a single parent, he can't go anywhere because his 21 and 24 year old "babies" can't feed themselves, he has to cook everyday. what is wrong with that picture ? Many shops are closing in high schools due to lack of enrollment, most kids don't want to get their hands dirty, every one wants to play with computers, some sort of tablet, pod or pad. Nothing wrong with keeping up with technology, but mom and dad might not be able to support you for ever, if you not good in academics, learn a trade ! I always try to tell the young people, everything can be made offshore, but we still need people to fix it here. I am a licensed tradesman, I left home at 20 and have not taken a penny from my parents since then, after my dad retired, I always send them some money, not because they needed it but just to assure them that I am here for them. I am now 57, after my dad passed away 15 years ago, soon after I brought mom to live with us, she is now 80 and me and my wife feel honored and thankful that we are able to look after her in her old age. There are still some kids following the right direction in life, and thats good to see.

Come and gone in most tribs, They have been running all winter ?
-
Another place you can try, they are also Cannon authorized service center in BC Mike's Reel Repair 1-888-404-1119 One more thing to consider, The waterproof rubber boot for that switch is a separate part, you might want to order that if the old one is cracked or broken.
-
Did you try their service center ? Bay Distributors, North Bay 705-476-6010 You can use a 3 way switch BUT with Cannon's switch it doesn't stay in down position, you have to hold it down for lowering the ball, it is to prevent from hitting bottom/snag if you forget to stop it, with a regular 3 way switch you better pay attention or you may loose everything.

Need advice on purchase of this Impact Driver
NANUK replied to huzzsaba's topic in General Discussion
Other than air, a Corded impact wrench is the way to go for working on cars, Don't buy the 4.5 amp light duty stuff, anything 7 amps and up is good, I picked up a 8.5 amp Mastercraft Maximum impact wrench from CT for $69 last year on sale, regular price $229, They always go on sale if you not in a hurry. -
Exactly what I was thinking, That is an excellent way of turning a bad situation in to a worst one, and hope no one gets seriously hurt. And then explain that to the insurance co,

I don't step in the boat without my auto inflatable PFD, Floater suite for cold weather

HELP !! fishing/vacation trip with wife.. she wants to go fishing
NANUK replied to tizfun's topic in General Discussion
Never tried Mosquito lake but flew in to Diamond several times in the past, it can be a hit or miss, gill netting in the winter was one major cause of low numbers of walleye, specially the larger females, Fishing the rapids in to Lady Evelyn at dusk can be productive some days. -
Custom cover made out of Top Gun or Sunbrella materiel is the way to go IMO, I had it custom made 12 years ago, it is still in good shape and fits like a glove, at that time $700 for a boat cover seemed outrageous but in the long run it actually worked out cheaper than buying several cheaper covers not to mention the aggravation.

HELP !! fishing/vacation trip with wife.. she wants to go fishing
NANUK replied to tizfun's topic in General Discussion
Never been to Martin River, But I have been to Waterfalls lodge a few times, always 1st or 2nd week of June, Some of my buddies have been going there for more than 5 years, We always catch a ton of walleye, there is Pike, bass, perch and lake trout as well, never tried the remote lakes, but heard good fishing stories from other guests, The owner, Rob is a great guy and runs an awesome operation, We mostly do our own food but they serve awesome food, Dining room/bar is very nice, great staff all around. They do a shore lunch mid week for everyone. Nice cabins, Some of the best camp boats I have been in, 16' Starcraft with floors, swivel seats, live well, fish finders, 20hp 4stk electric start Yamaha motors, We are not going there this year, some of the guys wanted to try a fly-in trip, so we will be going to northern Quebec this year, Just something different. -
A Maintenace tip for transducers/ almost NF
NANUK replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
I have the opposite experience with P66, Specially when down rigging the difference is like night & day, a crisper sonar image with lot more detail, not to mention it has already lasted twice as long as lowrance and still going strong. -

A Stella is absolutely worth sending to Shimano in Peterborough, they do an amazing job of servicing and have access to all the parts needed.

That is awesome !! Thanks for the link. l was concerned about the resistance in the wire, looks like that is not an issue, at least not with Airmar. Basically it is a splash proof secure connection, I can make a better connection by soldering crimp sleeves and covering it with double wall heat shrink tubing.
