  1. 60-80 lb braid. It is also better to untangle a bird's nest. Not sure about the rod over the long haul, but should suffice for now. Look at getting a 7' 6" or 8' rod in the future. It will be much easier on your body.
  2. The weeds were thick enough in the lower end of Pigeon Lake last summer.
  3. Contact Mike, he will help you.
  4. Yes, the floating weeds! A pain to anyone that likes to troll. So true.
  5. An addiction could actually be habitual behaviour instead.
  6. We live in an addictive society: Timmies, beer, cigarettes, fishing, wine; what's one more thing. I don't know how many times I have been sitting around with a bunch of guys (not necessarily guys I know) when someone that is hammered on alcohol starts into those that smoke pot, calling them pot heads druggies etc. I just laugh to myself because I can't say I have seen drunken behaviour from someone who was stoned on weed. Another issue with legalizing is what to do with vehicle operators. It is my understanding that THC remains in your body for approximately 1 month. "Call into work, sorry boss I smoked a joint last night, so I will have to take a month off before I can drive to work again" What kind of breathalizer would they use? I think most that smoke have no problem in satisfying their needs.
  7. Cadigan's is a little closer to Gannons Narrows than the Ennismore Inn. It was sad when Gary and Judy sold the resort and it closed down to the general public. That place had quite the history and amazing food. They hosted tournaments over the years and I think that's where I attended my first OV Pro Bass Tournament back in the 80's. They also hosted Muskie Canada events. Nothing ever remains the same so enjoy a good thing while it's there.
  8. Get rid of the shoot outs. Hockey is a team game and the 3 on 3 will be end to end and way more exciting than the shoot out. You haven't missed anything HH, that's the inconsistency of the NHL when it comes to their stars.
  9. I have never heard anything bad about the place. It is not the past Ennismore Inn and Resort, that place still exists as a training centre from what I know. I live on the lake and I would suggest targeting panfish, bass and muskie during the day and maybe walleye in the evening. However, walleye fishing is tougher than it used to be. That being said find the weed beds of milfoil and start in those areas. You are in a great location to start from. The lake has also become very busy in recent years. Have fun and good luck..
  10. Thought some of you might enjoy some easy listening this morning.
  11. Maybe you can persuade her to change to a topic like freedom of choice and she can use her choice to not eat meat as one example, or maybe a bigger picture topic of respecting our planet earth and her contribution is not to eat meat. Maybe she can remove the word BAD from her speech because she sounds like a very smart girl that should understand other's points of view. Shooting down her choice completely might send the wrong message.
  12. Any white meat made in a peanut/curry/spicy sauce with peppers and onions. I prefer bluegill for this, but have made it with walleye and pike also. Marinate the fillets in a curry spice mix. Cut up some peppers and onions and cook in some extra virgin olive oil Add a can of coconut milk when peppers and onions are tender. Add a teaspoon of peanut buttter into milk and any spices that you like. (I use a package satay mix) Bring to a simmer so the mixture is bubbling slightly. Lay fish on top of this and cover until fish flakes. Stir all together gently and serve over a bed of rice or whatever. A nice change from the breaded and fried fish.
  13. What a bunch of hogwash these trade deadline shows are. How many times can the same thing be discussed or repeated? So boring! Unless you like to listen to a bunch of wanabee GM's. It's not like we won't hear about the trades.
  14. Well, I have to say I was quite surprised that they were able to unload Clarkson. Just didn't work out here and hopefully they learn not sign guys long term because they have one good year. Doubt that will happen though.
  15. I think metal recyclers will take them. Most places that sell batteries will test the questionable one to see if it's any good still and recharged it for you.
  16. I wasn't uncomfortable without minnows. Just mentioned that we couldn't get any. It's always nice to have a set line while jigging. We used a piece of worm which did catch some and were wondering if the minnows would have made a difference. I find the wax worms fall off easy, but the fish love them.
  17. I hooked myself in the head with a mepps spinner when I was about 15 year s old. My father tried to yank it out with pliers, but eventually ended up at the hospital. Had a muskie clamp down on my index finger when I was trying to unhook it. Ended up with 8 stitches. Also had 2 hooks on a treble imbedded in my wrist after I was trying to net a pike and the hooks let loose. Buddy had his rod loaded up, so it the lure came at me like a slingshot. It was not fun getting those out because of the way the skin was bunched up by the hooks. That was at the mouth of the French River Delta. Had to take a shaving razor apart to get the blades and then cut the hooks out. I always carry a surgical blade with me now.
  18. So, is Cabelas going to go the way of Target??? Out of touch with their consumers?
  19. Finally got out on Simcoe on Saturday for the first times a in a few years. Man, was the snow deep. Thanks to my buddy and his 4x4 truck we didn't have to walk anywhere. We had some luck, but the fish were definitely not biting. We could see them coming up to our baits then turn away. It had the potential to be a great day, but alas, my buddy only brought home a single meal. Could not find any minnows to purchase around the area we went to which was a downer. However, I still think that they would not have made much of a difference. This is the double header I caught while my buddy was out of the hut fiddling around with something. LOL
  20. I am aware of that. The odds are not in their favour though. When is the last time a team farther down in the standings won the lottery? Their best bet is to finish last and I can't see that happening.
  21. There is absolutely no way that the Leafs will get McDavid. It would take a complete turn around by Buffalo and Edmonton and that isn't happening. The Buffalo fans have basically accepted him into their community, so there is no way they would trade that pick unless they want to face the wrath of the fans.
  22. I like the ones that will fit right into the back of a pick up!
  23. They're only fish!!!!!! Not worth the risk.
  24. Sorry to hear that. I just can't believe the nerve some people have. See something sitting there and think that it's free for anyone to take. However, you reconfirmed that there are still fish in that lake. I was skunked the last time I went there in January.
