  1. Wow, you're digging pretty deep here. Not sure what your motives are, but I'd suggest you get a life.
  2. Hey cool, that's quite a welcome to Yellowknife. Stick with Dave, he won't steer you wrong.
  3. Nice recap Dan. Hopefully you'll get out more than 3X next year. That picture of you and Drew....I'll go out on a limb and say Bunk was standing on either a log or a rock.
  4. Nice pike buddy. Have yourself a great new years up in the great white north. Cheers
  5. I doubt you'll see anyone from Virginia fishing in Cuba either.
  6. I'll throw a vote in for the top of the line Redington breathables. A bit more money than your budget allows but if you can swing the extra 80 bucks you won't regret it. Far better than Cabelas in my opinion and warranty and customer service second to none. http://www.redington.com/S-S-pr-1839.html
  7. Thank you for that. It brought me a little closer to where I need to be tonight. Merry Christmas!
  8. Merry Christmas everyone. http://www.portablenorthpole.tv/watch/mKRBxJznhipx05Xbm8PjOUQ
  9. Steelheading hasn't slowed down in the slightest. Had a fantastic day today up north. So yeah, I'm loving the weather.
  10. Is your son in law Jethro? I hear granny makes a mean possum pie.
  11. Miracle On 34th St. is a yearly tradition. For the last few years we've watched The Polar Express with the kids. Surprised no one's mentioned it. Animated or not it's a great movie.
  12. This will give you a pretty good idea of what to expect: http://www.forum.minnesotawaterfowler.com/viewtopic.php?t=19286&highlight=pasha
  13. What an unexpected blow. Even harder when you're forced to take action yourself out of love. That takes an enormous amount of courage. I've been through it myself once and know how it feels. You and your family have my deepest sympathies.
  14. Have heard nothing but good things about Pasha, you should do well.
  15. F150 is a great choice imo, but you'll get way better gas mileage on the hwy, especially towing with a V8. The V6 in a full sized truck is working too hard and gas mileage suffers. I drove to Nakina twice this year in 2 different full sized F150 crew cab 4X4's. Great vehicles, tons of room, and believe it or not just slightly more expensive to drive up there and back than my 2.4L 4 cylinder Nissan XTrail. I was absolutely amazed. Ford has lots of incentives right now too if you're in the market.
  16. Yeah I totally agree. We now live in a different neighborhood as we moved last year. It's been like night and day. We're friendly with all of our neighbours, many have become good friends. Great environment for the kids too, it's a small dead end street with no traffic and lots of other kids their own age to play with.
  17. All due respect, but wow you couldn't be more wrong.
  18. A couple of years back a massive pine on my neighbours property blew over in a huge wind storm. Fell into my backyard creating a ginormous ungodly mess. I started hacking it up the next morning and throwing the pieces into his backyard. That's when he came flying out of house furious asking me what I was doing LOL! "What do you think?" I say, "Just trying to help you out here!". He informed me that the cleanup was 100% my responsibility, unless any of our property was damaged which fortunately it wasn't. Considered "an act of God" by the insurance companies and the landowner is in no way liable for the cleanup. I confirmed this with a phone call to my insurance company. Needless to say I wasn't too happy. 90% of the tree was in my backyard and the prick never even offered to help me clean up the mess from his tree. Happened one day before we were slated to leave on a family vacation too.. Anyhow this situation with the glass may also be deemed "an act of God" as well and your responsibility to clean up. Regardless I wouldn't be waiting around for help, just get it done. A shop vac has been mentioned and I believe that's your best bet, especially if you're talking about a gravel driveway. The tool rental department at Home Depot will rent you an industrial sized shop vac for half a day. That'd most likely be your best bet. Good luck.
  19. Good luck, I suspect you'll need it. 'Course your expectations and needs may be different than mine.
  20. Thank you for posting that Lew. Most people live in a very small world. Seems to me Jim lived life pretty large and experienced things that few people ever do. Here's to your boy. A tip of the hat and a small prayer to a fine young man.
  21. Back when I was younger my user name actually meant something. I've completed a great many lengthy solo canoe trips but the summer of '96 was special. I started my trip on May 12 and finished it on Sept 15. Over the course of those 4 months I paddled over 1200 km's by myself and managed to fish some of the finest brook trout waters in the world. Fabled trout rivers like the Asheweig, Winisk, Frog, Fawn and Severn were my playground. I ate when I was hungry, slept when I was tired and fished 'till my hearts content. I carried my shelter on my back, transportation was my canoe. It really drove home to me how little one needs to be truly happy. Every day was an adventure seeing new and amazing country at every turn. It instilled a confidence in me that I still carry with me to this day. That year will never again be repeated, I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity.
  22. What a horrible thing to have happen, truly hope your pooch recovers. As a responsible dog owner I find it despicable when people let their animals run out of control, especially large aggressive breeds. I had a pretty horrible experiences myself earlier this fall, occurring on the only trail system that allows dogs off leash that's anywhere close to me. Ironically the issue wasn't with another dog, but a dog owner, but I digress. My dog is a 1 year old German Shorthair, a high energy breed that needs to run every day. She's absolutely not agressive at all, in fact she's really just a big happy idiot LOL! A couple months back I was walking her on the trail off leash. She's a hunting breed is a pure joy to watch as she works the bush back and forth in front of me. She never runs off either, always staying within sight as that's how she's been trained. If there ever are people walking on the trail she barely gives them pause. If there's another dog she'll run up, tail wagging, sniff, say hello and be on her way... Anyhow I'm on the trail and up ahead there's a couple walking a small terrier on leash. No big deal I think, 'cause as I said my dog's not the least bit aggressive. The small dog sees mine and goes nuts, barking pyschotically and jumping and straining at its leash. My girl trots up, stops about 3' away, looks at the little dog freaking out and lets out one big woof. That's it, nothing more. At that point the guy kicks my dog as hard as he can in the ribs...she screamed in pain...then he grabbed her collar and wrenched her neck up twisting it and choking her...she was gagging. At that point I started running towards them and he says quite loudly "Keep your ....ing dog under control ...hole!" The entire time this is happening the terrier is literally going postal, snarling, snapping, hackles raised, just itching to get at my dog. There's no doubt in my mind that if the woman had let go of the leash at any time it would have attacked. Anyway I'm not usually a violent man, let's just leave it at that. My dog was subsequently checked at the vets and as I suspected she had cracked ribs from the kick. Couldn't lie down or get up without whining in pain for quite a while. I consider myself to be a responsible dog owner and that includes allowing my dog to run on a daily basis. When something like that happens at what is really my only refuge it becomes an issue. What exactly is one to do?
  23. That was really great Cliff, and Sidney has some real talent! Merry Christmas to you and yours.
  24. Go in a completely dark room and shove a super bright flashlight inside your waders. You should be able to pinpoint the leak that way.
