  1. Yep, I have a box full of them. Any store that carries Blue Fox can order them in.
  2. The kid's starting to chirp as he gets older. Nice. The guy who caught it was a fly fisherman. When he landed it, it spilled its load of eggs all over the ground. I jokingly said to him you should pick those up and chum them where you're fishing, not really being serious. I turn my head a few minutes later and see him hurling handfuls of eggs into the river. LOL!
  3. The drag is sealed so the biggest possible issue is a non issue. I've been dunking it in silty water all fall with zero problems. As soon as the temps dip into the minuses it'll be time to stop.
  4. True. It's easy to pick out the ones I caught. Difference this last little while it's a spinning rod on the ground for a change.
  5. Oh the horror! (Seen on a river last week, not mine )
  6. Just wanted to congratulate you guys publicly, you must be super excited! It'll be nice knowing someone in Manitouwage now.
  7. Jason are you kidding me? Wow did that ever come out of left field. Give me a call when you have a second.
  8. A big thumbs up to Grant, that was very inspiring.
  9. Who says there the fish of a thousand casts? They may be small but they're still musky.
  10. I don't think you're fishing high enough in the system.
  11. My advice to you frankly is find some new water to fish. Just my opinion only, but catching fish is such a small creek isn't steelhead fishing. If you're restricted to fishing such tiny creeks and have no other choice, fish the lake where it empties in. Some of my most memorable days ever have been fishing the mouths of such tiny creeks. Fish will hit hardware in the lake with a vengence. You can also float your bait out into the lake if winds are favourable. Many times the best approach is simply still fishing with an egg sinker and a floating roe bag. Fire it way out into the surf and wait. Also considering where you live you're missing the boat if you don't cross the border and travel to Pulaski to fish the Salmon River. It's an incredible fishery with tons of big fish. Cheers
  12. I'm sure I don't have to tell you, but out your way you've got to scale everything down and slow down the presentation. Out your way I'm partial to micro sized Kwikfish and Flatfish and spinners no bigger than a #2. Phil already answered the question, it is indeed an SX series US Reel. It's a true longcast spinning reel. Decent reel, not overly expensive....but...the drag needs to be tweaked if you're using it for steelhead. I've switched out the stock washers in mine with some leather and felt to improve performance. For any other fish the stock drag is just fine, but these steelhead are hitting so hard and violently that the drag needs to be absolutely butter smooth. Another similar reel that's also decent for the purpose is the Pfleuger Arbor. If I'm not mistaken Phil has them on sale in his online store. Been meaning to order one from etackle.ca myself to give it a whirl.
  13. Nice! March for the tiny winter blacks crawling all over the snow, and this hatch in mid-late November always produces good fish.
  14. That's so ironic. That's pretty much exactly what Aaron Shirley said when we were out LOL! I think he said it was a bus though, not a train.
  15. HAHA! That's perfect buddy. Fabulous stache btw. Good eye. Same reel different center cap.
  16. But your guide selection and spacing is more suited to a baitcaster. Cheers
  17. But...you posted pic's of a float rod you built soliciting comments on it. From my end I applaud your work. No need to be defensive about any criticisms, they're solely meant in a constructive way.
  18. WTG Dave, the ones that size are better eating anyway.
  19. Match guides have been kind of old school retro for years. Almost no one builds with them anymore although Pac Bay still makes a high frame. YSG's perform just as nicely as the titanium version, you may want to check those ones out for your next build.
  20. Thanks gents, glad you enjoyed the porn. Can't imagine anything being stronger than Spro, but I'm open to suggestions. I'll give them a shot bud, thanks.
  21. The last week has been pretty special. I've been rolling up the km's on the odometer travelling both north and south in search of steelhead. I've been having a blast with fish just hammering hardware with a ferocity I've never before experienced. I had two fish recently destroy my Spro snap swivels on the strike, opening them up and making off with my lure. On another occasion I had 3 fish in the 10lb class rush in right to my feet before one sped up and smashed my lure almost stopping my heart in the process. Fish have been caught floatfishing and bottom bouncing as well. If you're not being versatile you're missing out on fish. Speaking of floatfishing some guys on another board I frequent were recently touting the virtues of Berkley Nanofil as mainline so I gave it a shot. Let me tell you this stuff is incredible! It's a super line, so zero stretch but is not a braid. It's perfectly round and has this slippery almost slick finish. Casts like a dream. Best thing from a floatfishing perspective it floats! On a windy day on a long drift I had my entire mainline blow off the water. Obviously hooksets and mending are greatly enhanced as well. Check it out, I think you'll be impressed! Anyhow, here's just a few more from my recent outings. I'm still waiting for a buddy to send me pic's of a thick 38" beast that's high teens minimum, maybe bigger.
