  1. Not only that, but when you reeled the fish in close you could beat them to death with your rod. An oversized head would also make long distance releases a breeze. Sweet idea.
  2. Beat me to it Billy. I've actually had preliminary discussions with Jon Bial about distributing NFC blanks in ON. Not sure if it'll lead to anything, but you never know.
  3. Did the rod that broke in half when you showed it to me last week have nano technology? (Sorry, there was no way I could resist. )
  4. Eddie is there all the time to help his guests. The camp is also still new and is constantly being worked on and improved. I know Eddie had a full time employee last season helping him with the work which would explain the 8 people. Ironically I just spoke with Bunk about the Jun 16th date this year. There's already a couple of smaller groups in camp that week so space is limited unfortunately. If I do go next spring it'll likely be just my son and I. Plans are in the works for Bunk to join next year though (hopefully )
  5. I'm leaving for Cuba on Saturday and plan on doing as much fishing as possible. The area I'm travelling to is somewhat unknown, but I have a contact over there who will supposedly be showing me around. I'll be doing most if not all of my fishing without a guide. Have no idea what it'll be like but I'll let you know when I get back. I do know someone who's fished Las Salinas and said it was amazing. http://solidadventures.com/2011/12/las-salinas-the-bonefish-paradise/
  6. The first hand feedback from you guys has been appreciated. I'm still talking with both guys though, nothing's been done yet. Thanks again! If something like that happened when I was there I have at least 3 other boats that belong to friends at my disposal, so no big deal. Assuming you have a normal summer this year with no unexpected tragedies I expect to see you at some point. Always have steaks in the fridge. Not the style of boat I need buddy.
  7. Good chance I'll be there on the 16th so I'll be picking your brain for info before you get on the plane. Thanks Rob I'll check it out.
  8. The crappy ones I currently have were bought at Bass Pro. I had a quick look online and only saw the same ones.
  9. Very glad to hear you had a visit from your daughter Chris! Now work on getting yourself out of there. Regarding our conversation last week, I have something waiting for you when you do get out. Sometime in March when the rivers break up we'll get you out steelheading. Cheers
  10. What a great post Rob! Thanks for taking the time. If you don't mind could you provide a link as to exactly where you found those jaw spreaders? I'll probably come back to this post in a day or two and add some thoughts. Cheers
  11. Thanks a bunch guys. You havn't made my decision any easier LOL! I'm leaning towards the Smokercraft at this point but will still consider the Crestliner if the price is substantially lower. Both guys are currently at the boat show looking to upgrade to something bigger. I suspect one or both may be motivated to sell fairly soon.
  12. Thanks for the input everyone! The layout in both is almost identical. Why don't you like welded hulls Wayne?
  13. Hey guys, I've been looking at boats for a while now and am pretty close to pulling the trigger on one. I've been looking for a 16-17' aluminum deep V with a full windshield, stand up top and a 50-90 horse 4 stroke. It's going to be used at our water access camp in QC. Anyhow I've got it narrowed down to either a Crestliner or a Smokercraft. Both were bought new in '06. Both seem very well taken care of, both have 60 horse 4 stroke Merc's and the price on each is pretty close. In your opinion which is a better boat? I'm partial to the Cresliner with its welded hull but the Smokercraft is pretty highly regarded as well. I'm having a hard time deciding and need a nudge eith way LOL!
  14. Here ya go Randy, instructions. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/GsgVspgy184" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  15. Don't see that many browns quite that large, very impressive!
  16. The best neoprene covers are made by Bare. You can buy them online at centerpinangling.com along with ones made by Islander, Kingpin, Okuma and Raven. Great prices, great service and super fast shipping from these guys. http://centerpinangling.com/parts_maintenance.html
  17. Seems weird seeing reports from two different board members in Yellowknife. Nice laker!
  18. It is impressive for sure. But....this is no doubt a small tributary of Lake Tahoe and the fish is migratory, not unlike our own great lakes browns. There's obviously a short seasonal fishery for large browns when they run the rivers flowing into lake Tahoe to spawn. By the size of the guys net the fish wasn't a huge surprise. Our own fishery in this neck of the woods is absolutely world class for lake run browns. I had at least one myself slightly larger than 30" this past fall. A beautifully colored buck that smashed a small crankbait. Still havn't caught one that big on a fly rod, that's pretty cool.
  19. They already had a 50% off sale in December, pretty much all the fly line went at that time. No noteworthy rods or reels will be available, they've already been moved to the new location and aren't part of this sale. What's left you say? A bunch of tying material and everything in their Archery shop if you're a bowhunter is up for grabs....
  20. Wow what a great deal! That suit would fit one of my legs LOL! Wish they had larger sizes.
