  1. Dunno whats for supper yet Phil, but I know whats for breakfast tomorrow and christmas day. dsn, thats my buds helmet, mine is on the front rack under my ice ryder jacket. His helmet got blown off the back rack by the wind.
  2. Sorry about the kick in the shin Dave, wasn't intended for sure. Dan, we were the only ones on this lake, it wasn't Lac or Whitefish. And you have a great christmas also. Thanks Wayne. Hope you guys down there get some ice soon Chris, otherwise I will be teasing too often. We are planning to hit a couple of stocked rainbow, rainbow/splake lakes next weekend and have heard about 6 lb. fish coming out of them, hope its true.
  3. Haven't wet a line since late august, or early september, so even with the forecasted 25 kmh winds, my bud and I decided to go. We got blasted on, because environment canada's weather prediction was wrong again. It was more like 50 kmh with gusts up to 60 kmh, but at least it was only -2C, and when the sun got up above the trees, ice and snow actually started melting off of my quad. We could only fish until maybe noon, bud had a prior commitment, so up I get at 4 am, eat breakfast, load up, gas up the truck and quad, and we are on the road by 6 am. Hit the lake at 7:30, were able to drive all the way in, only about 8 inches of snow. Off we go in the dark, but the horizons were now visible. Got to our spot before the crack of dawn by about 10 min. Was fun setting lines and tying jigs on in the dark, lol. I forgot my headlamp. Used the hand augers, because there was only 9 inches of ice. Within the first 45 minutes my bud landed 3 walleye and one pike, 2 walleye jigging and the other walleye and pike on the set line and I had one hit. I finally got on the board just over an hour later on the set line. My bud missed a fish on his set line shortly later. Then quite a lull, and the sun finally got up, not good, the fishing shuts down usually when that happens and we tend to land only pike. But fortunately for me, I got a 2nd walleye after the sun came up, and my bud missed 2 more fish. But, that was it, no more bites or hits, and we decided to call it around 11:30 because we took the opportunity of low snow and frozen ground to drive into a new cut that is brutal for clay to check out hunting opportunities for next year. On to the pictures: My bud resetting his line after a missed fish. My usual setup. My buds first two, one over 18" and one around 15", didn't get a pick of his 3rd that he released. My first fish, didn't take a pic of my 2nd one. My quad Sunrise Tried to get a pic of the snow being blasted down the lake Just thought this was a cool cloud picture Hope you enjoy.
  4. I would like to fish with ONFC'rs for fish I cannot target. Lew, Eh, Roy, and others for musky, in their respective back yards, Art and Joe for catfish, Greencoachdog(if he keeps his shirt on and his pants up) using those sabiki rigs would be fun for whatever will bite, the toronto waterfront crew like Highdrifter, FHR, Grilw, Snag, etc, always like those reports even though most of the time all they catch is those skanky pike which I do have lots of up here, lol. Dan the Man for a sturgeon trip, Moosebunk for one of his across the bay in a big skinny boat, trips. Aww man, there's too many choices here, cannot possibly mention them all. One of these days I gotta get out with my own local OFC'rs, DanC and Mahumba, but its hard when I have my own fishing buds that I always go with.
  5. Uh, oh, here we go again, lol. That pike is not from Rainy Lake, that pic has been circulating through the internet for over a year. It is from a Danish site I believe. Have a copy of it from over a year ago.
  6. He probably has just as much of a clue what to do with them as does Wayne
  7. Lucky....ly its not my fault either, lol. Guess they did not poll Thunder Bay, Nipigon, Geraldton, Cochrane, Timmins, Manitouwadge, Hornepayne, Marathon, Moonbeam, Ignace, Dryden, Murillo, Kakabeka, Sioux Lookout, Armstrong, Pickle Lake, Long Lac, Wawa, Sault Ste. Marie, Espanola, etc. etc. etc. lol. Heck, they probably did not even look at Ontario, lol.
  8. Any excuse, any excuse,
  9. Pic quality looks just great dsn, but wish it was a fishing report, lol.
  10. Ummm........Glen................tjsa here, wink, wink, nudge, nudge,
  11. I only have a sour taste in my mouth when intending to release a fish and am forced, or my buds are forced, to keep it, or release it, because it was deeply hooked, damaged in some way, that we know or suspect it will not survive, but have to follow the regulations regardless. Happened this summer with a large 20 lb. + laker my bud caught, but somehow despite being jaw hooked, it was bleeding profusely. Something happened in the fight or the net job, who knows, but he had to keep it. Also happened to me with a walleye over 18"(already had kept one over, and our regs. only allow one over 18" per day) deep hooked, was bleeding, but not too badly, but still had to put it back. I had pinched the barb down as I had already kept 3 and the limit was 4, and we were fishing for my and my buds last fish. I landed a few more walleye all jaw hooked and released no problemo, bunch of small fish, was looking for one about 16" to complete my limit, which I ultimately caught. Also a few years back, I hooked a pike in the slot which was also bleeding quite a bit, but it was in the slot, so it had to go back, no choice. Those events are the only times I feel guilty about keeping, or releasing a fish. Fortunately, the above events are the only times in all the years it has not been our explicit choice to keep or release a fish. I have kept deep hooked fish before, quite a few times, but they were always within my limit or slot size, and even though I may have released it given the choice for a more suitable sized fish for my liking if it was lip hooked, I kept it because I believed it would not have survived, so its not a big deal to me in those situations.
  12. I'm in, no problem, anything you guys says goes, thats it , thats all. KISS priciple, keep it simple stupid, and I am simple, lol. No , not really, but I will try to not tarnish this site in any way, I like it here. You let Chris(Spiel) be in charge of WHAT!!!!
  13. OH, thats Canadave, finally got a face to the legend, lol. And this is circa??????????????................Roy???????????????/
  14. Buy one Rick, and let us know how well it works.
  15. Everybody else is kneeling down Rick, lol. And, do you recognize TJQ in that pic, he is there.
  16. Darn.............that looks like ..................work, lol.
  17. And someone posted this pic, I think Roy, first ever GTG at Lakair, not necessarily a planned event at that time, but a great picture nontheless, some of the members are still here, some are not. Darn, I wish I was one of those people in the picture. I know quite a few in that picture, but have never, ever, met any of them.
  18. Dragged up a long handled extendable net one day, my bud reached for the handle end, and the rest went back down. On the return troll, I snagged the rest of it again, lol. Fixed the handle index, bought a new net mesh, and still have it to this day. Lines, lures, sinkers, etc....too many times to count. One time just 4 or 5 yrs. ago, steelhead fishing in the spring, I fought a fish to shore, released it, and realized I was tangled in line around my feet. Gathered the line, and kept pulling(it was on a sandbar) and ended up pulling out a cheap combo Johnson rod and reel setup. Rod was fine, reel was full of sand, line on it was toast. Refilled the spool with Trilene XT 8 lb. test from the 3000 yd. spool I have, and completely cleaned out and lubed the reel(took me 30 min). Sold it for 25 bucks, lol.
  19. Have heard of one lake up here people are driving vehicles on, supposedly 8-10 inches(NOT ME, NO WAY) I don't think the ice is that solid yet, not black ice conditions up here that I know of. But quads and snowmobiles are OK on them. Seeing the satellite pics, lots of our smaller walleye lakes are indeed frozen over, but the deeper laker lakes have open water on them. Haven't been out myself yet, maybe this saturday for some late night walleye.
  20. Primarily walleye for me, but during specific times of specific months, steel, brook trout, salmon(coho and chinook), lake trout also. Pike are an incidental catch when after waldo's, consider them trash fish really, annoying pests that steal my bait and break my lures off, lol.
  21. Back at ya Phil, take care in the new year.
