  1. We tried last year too. They have much more stock now. At least in Burlington store. I did see a similar style at Crappy Tire last week when I was looking for thermal undies. They did not have as nice strapping though.
  2. As others have said, this is a scam site. DO NOT USE IT. They make it look like an official government site, but it is not. Spread the word to as many people as you know. I hate this kind of Bull $hi7 scam and the dirtbags that run them.
  3. I am refreshing this thread to add a thumbs up for Icers cleats for walking on ice. Lee Valley sells them and my wife got a set and called them a game changer for walking the dogs on icy trails around our place. So I got myself a set too. Fantastic. And made in Canada too (New Brunswick).
  4. The same. Not often, but I have seen this. The biggest I saw was a pike on Lulu Lake in Esker Lakes PP in July many years ago. It would have been the better part of 20lbs. It was in about 10ft of water over a weedy area. Couldn't get it to bite either.
  5. I stand behind what the court decided. There are multiple causes of any accident, but the other boat was stopped mid-lake, and had no lights on, which is against the relevant law, and that was the primary reason for the accident. And speculation that the other video was tampered with is ridiculous, pure speculation. I don’t like him either, but leave it to the courts to assess evidence.
  6. I had not seen that video before. Its very clear. I agree with you 100%. And it actually looks like the O'leary boat was not going at high speed. Maybe a bit too high for a moonless night, but if they know the lake I can see why they might be running at that speed. Its rarely just one mistake that causes tragedy, but I will bet that if they had their lights on, there would be two people alive today.
  7. I also run at night in my boat, but in pitch dark, you can’t use a flashlight to drive because it kills your night vision and only illuminates what is in the beam. For me, a light shortens the distance you can see, not the other way around. I agree that speed had to be a factor though. You should never drive faster than you can see (strange way to say it, but you know what I mean). I think the biggest reason she got off was the fact the other boat did not have its anchor lights on. That is a law that is there for the exact reason that its hard to see boats at night that don’t have the normal nav lights on. Since the people were star gazing, I expect they went out for a nice night and turned off the anchor/nav lights to be able to see the stars better. Resulted in a horrible tragedy. Who knows if they would have been seen if the lights were on. We’ll never know I guess. We all need to ensure we have the proper lights on your boat if you are out at night.
  8. Get rid of the fram oil filter once you are done They are crap.
  9. Camshafts are different On Marine engines to prevent cooling water being sucked into the engine from the manifolds. Those old OMC outdrives are really hard to get parts for. And the transom hole won’t be the same size as a new Merc Alpha drive. So your options are limited unfortunately.
  10. Funny story. My sister and BIL just bought a new to them boat. A 23 bowrider. They told me they were going to take it out on a test run out of Bronte sunday mid AM. They are new to boats and launch ramps. I warned them about it being prime salmon season and Sunday being a prime fishing day and that it would be a bit crazy down there. They listened, thought they understood, and went anyway. They now know what I was warning them about. I got a lot of "what a $hit show" texts from them. Apologies to anyone else going in and out of Bronte on Sunday late AM. We all had to learn some time! Try to be nice, and I will try to give some more advice or maybe go with them next time.
  11. I guess it will, if a blue shark grabs onto the 10 inch mackerel that he would be casting for, LOL!
  12. Daiwa BG reels are really good saltwater reels and not that expensive. They are really highly rated. I have one and its fantastic. You can spend a lot of money on a rod, but for mackerel off a pier its not necessary. Look at a Ugly Stick eLite and a Daiwa BG 2500 and it will be a great rig that will last a long time.
  13. Bring a spare prop, just in case!
  14. Nova Scotia brook trout. This is a picture after one of my first dates with my bride. About 35 years ago. Sometimes you just know that they are the one, when you say lets go catch some trout today. I think my secret creek near Cow Bay is probably a subdivision drainage ditch by now.
  15. First world issues when someone can make a living fishing for bass. I guess its not different than Youtubers or Wicked Tuna. People pay to be entertained.
  16. I have navionics on my old Raymarine C80 and I upgrade every couple of years in case the Coast Guard moves any buoys. Yeah you can see them, but I would rather have the charts close to the actual locations. I like Navionics better than C-map because it looks exactly the same on the iPhone, iPad and the Raymarine.
  17. The last thing we need is God wanna-be scientists genetically engineering things. With the trillions of variables in genetics there is far more risk of something going very wrong and solving one issue and creating a much worse other issue. Gobies are here to stay. Hopefully normal evolution will shift things around and the muskies that spawn in areas that are not overrun with gobies will become dominant. Same for perch.
  18. The craziness is that he clearly did it once and then told his buddy "Hey make a video of me, I wanna do that again".
  19. Rolls Surette. Super batteries and made in Canada. https://www.totalbattery.com/product/rolls-battery/ 241 Applewood Crescent Unit #8 Vaughan, ON, L4K 4E6 Toll Free: 1-844-532-0444 Tel: (905) 532-0444
  20. I saw this ad on Kijiji and recall someone looking for one a while back. Not my ad, or anyone I know. Just passing it on cause I saw it. https://www.kijiji.ca/v-fishing-camping-outdoor/oakville-halton-region/rappalla-fishing-lure/1550895033
  21. Its really important not to get anything spilled on the top edges of the jars or on the sealing lids when you are filling them or the seal will not last. Be careful not to overfill the jars and if you spill on the edges or lids, you have to clean it really, really well. And never, ever reuse the sealing lids. If the seals leak at all, your hard work will be ruined and you can get sick or die from botulism. Home canning is great, but its not a place to take shortcuts on food safety.
  22. Typical Liberal government Bull way to get more taxes. "The proposed rule changes would provide the government with more information to identify the owners of recreational boats abandoned or wrecked in Canada's lakes, rivers and oceans." Oh yeah, that is a major problem. We all see thousands of abandoned and wrecked boats in our rivers and oceans. Its a catastrophe! This is going to play well with the big city lefties that will believe whatever they are told.
  23. Looks like someone bought it.
  24. Spotted this on Amazon today. Looks like a good deal on "used" which means a returned item. https://www.amazon.ca/Scotty-1106-B-Downrigger-Depthpower-Electric/dp/B01J14OFY2/ref=sr_1_108?dchild=1&fst=as%3Aoff&m=AUJBRIGYRJ3Q8&qid=1604627751&rnid=8929975011&s=warehouse-deals&sr=1-108
  25. Read the actual fishing regulations. Its Zone 16. But you need to read the waterbody exemptions carefully. https://www.ontario.ca/document/ontario-fishing-regulations-summary https://www.ontario.ca/document/ontario-fishing-regulations-summary/fisheries-management-zone-16
