I think Ontario was late to the party because of the long time Brewers Retail arrangement with the major breweries that restricted what could be done. Its only relatively recently that they allowed beer to be sold in the LCBO too. I think the Brewers Retain arrangement provided them exclusivity in some way. I am not sure if they still do it, but in Alberta you could buy beer at a bar. Its called “off-licence” sales. That just seemed weird to me for some reason, but I guess since they have the process for checking for underage or impaired buyers in the bar, why not.

SO FRUSTRATING TO WATCH. I have been a leafs fan for over 50 years now (since I was about 4). That’s a LOT of disappointment. It was like watching a minor league team. too many players standing around watching. Bruins left standing around. Almost no finished checks, virtually no toughness. The old dump it in the opponents end, hope that they cough it up, then try to get back for the inevitable breakout. Repeat, repeat, repeat. The games they win, they don’t play that way. I am so tired of having no horse in the race in the playoffs. GO LEAFS

Costco refunds your price almost no questions asked. You cant get a repair though.

Costco on line has the Maui Jim Legacy glasses in Brown/Bronze and Black/Grey for $129. Web site says that they may be in your local store too. They will be cheaper than that in the stores but they don't last long until they are gone. I think I will grab a grey lens pair if they are close to $100. https://www.costco.ca/Maui-Jim-Legacy-Sunglasses.product.100388228.html

Calves liver to die for. If you don't think you like liver, you will. Needs to be fresh calves liver (not cow, calves) Get a really sharp knife and cut the calves liver thin (knife flat on the board like taking the skin off a filet, but keep the knife above the board). I usually thin the store pieces into two. Soak in a bowl in milk overnight Fry up a big mess of bacon. Keep the fat. Fry up a big mess of onions in part of the bacon fat. Toss the milk and dry off the liver with paper towels. Season the liver with a bit of pepper. Messy part: - rub a thin amount real mayonaise (not the light crap) on a piece of liver with your hands, and then press both sides in bread crumbs on a plate to coat it. Repeat for all the pieces. Wash up your hands Now fry the pieces in the bacon fat. Eat with some steamed veg, mashed potatoes and a nice Chianti, Clarise.

This is the best route if you do a bank draft. the bank can verify the draft for you. You can also have him to an interac eTransfer by email to you if you have on line banking. Once it is in your account, there can be no scam and he can't pull it back.

NF Drywall Taping question (removal of popcorn)
Canuck replied to Raycaster's topic in General Discussion
Has anyone paid to have popcorn removed? If so, what is the cost for a standard size room? -

The salmon is not as good as it was 10 years ago, but its better than it was 3 years ago. I agree with the Wasaga beach comment. Its a beautiful beach, but very crowded and kinda spring break Daytona. Killbear Park and that area is good. Awenda Park is nice too, but no boat launch. Awenda is close to Penetanguishene (with a good launch) which puts you close to some great Severn Sound fishing and you can run around to the Salmon grounds around Beckwith/Christian and Giants Tomb as well (but its about 18 miles around). On that side you can find a place out of the wind too.

Me too. But the new version has better features and you can download all of US and Canada if you want and update maps for a year. Navioniscs is till one of the better systems and the sonar charts feature is pretty cool for finding structure. worth it to me.

Rainbows are normally high in the water column (maybe 20-50ft max deep). Chinooks follow the temperatures and can be 50ft down to 180ft. Rainbows on spoons and stickbaits mostly. Chinook on spoons, flashers with cut bait, flies, J-plugs sometimes, stickbaits sometimes. Georgian bay can get big waves. There is almost 150 miles of open water from Wasaga Beach north to Manitoulin Island. Not much shelter on the big bay. In behind the islands you can sometimes get away from the wind, but getting there is the hard part.

Here is a video I took in Barcelona of a really cool guitar. It was like the love child of a guitar, a sitar, and a slide guitar. Really cool vibe. https://youtu.be/PRwYkDz42f0

No worries. I have heard a lot of that "fake news" about the AR-15 from the US too. Its a purpose built assault rifle. Ill suited for true hunting. Probably a lot of fun to have if you are into military style toys and maybe OK for blasting at Coyotes or varmints. It can be VERY accurate at long distances with a good scope. Its a pretty serious weapon and as we saw in the US, it only takes one .223 round to take a life. And I agree 100% on your view on stand your ground. I hope I never have to follow through on it, but I would in a second if I had too.

You are right. They are pretty much the same. (heavy dose of sarcasm). Caliber Firearm Bullet weight, g (gr) Velocity, m/s (ft/s) Muzzle energy, J (ft lb) .22 Long Rifle rifle, handgun 2.5 (38) 300 (1,000) 140 (100) .223 Remington rifle 3.56 (55) 990 (3,240) 1,738 (1,282)

To keep it Agree to disagree on the 22 vs AR-15. Have shot both. They are different. None of those deaths I talked about could have been done with a 22. Totally agree on that point about keeping this Canadian. As hunters and gun owners, we need to be very vigilant about not letting our politicians overreact to fix problems we don't have in Canada. Clearly from the start of this post, it is happening. I am a member of the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters. Hopefully it will rally the troops and get talking to politicians. We need to get on top of this and keep the US insanity from giving the anti-gun anti-hunting urban lobby groups from taking advantage.

To say an AR-15 is nothing more than a mean 22 is horse-$crap. Tell that to the parents of the kids in Florida (he used an AR-15). Tell that to the parents of the kids from Sandy Hook (killed mostly with a Bushmaster version of AR-15) or the relatives of Vegas victims (shooter had AR-15s and that was the weapon used with the bump stocks to give near automatic rifle performance. They seem to be pretty effective at two legged big game. You can hunt in the US with an AR-15. You can hunt in many, maybe most states with an AR-15 with a 30 round clip. (which you would need in order to bring down anything of any size). I swear that the reason some states allow hunting with AR type guns is to prevent any attempt at banning ARs but not hunting weapons. Call it a hunting weapon and it is all ok, right? Hey Canadian's, the f-ed up lack of gun laws in the US is going to cause us problems in Canada (by overreaction to solve a problem we don't have in Canada). What will prevent it best, is rational gun laws in the US that bring their gun death stats down in line with the rest of the civilized world. But that won't happen.

You are right to report the incident and you should follow through on the insurance aspect as well. If you don't do it now, and some diagnosed aspect comes up later, you wont have coverage. So definetly take it through the process. As for the old woman, unfortunately you should ensure that there was a formal police incident report with her name/licence in the report. At some point we will all become too old to drive safely. And often it is the accumulation of police reports that have to be used as evidence to force the issue. Virtually no senior willingly gives up their licence and the freedom that goes with it. Think of it as saving her family the torture of trying to explain to nana or mom that she should not be driving. Your report can help. My dad is getting close to that line. As bad as it may sound, I hope that people actually do report him if they see him doing things that are dangerous. He still drives and is "OK", but the simple fact is that we have gotten to the point where none of us let him drive when we go out with him. So it says something. Is he OK to drive now.... I think so. But there is a day coming when he should have his licence taken. He won't let it happen, but a list of police reports will help us convince him (or have the decision made FOR him).

64 is too young to go. Sad news.

Somewhat related. When I was growing up I had quite a few guns at home, but when I went off to University, of course they stayed home with my parents. They moved around Canada a lot, and so did I, but at some point I got my 12ga pump from them, but left a nice old bolt action 22, a 410 and a 22 hand gun passed down from my uncle. A few years later, I asked my Dad where they were. So here is the story: He got nervous about the handgun because he was not sure if it was registered, so he took it down to the Lake O waterfront and threw it out as far as he could throw. AAARGH. The 410 and 22 he put into the car and went to the local police station. Luckily he did not bring them in with him, he told the duty officer he had a couple guns in the car to give them. Well, they didn't handcuff him, but they were VERY nervous and it took a while for them to be comfortable to go out to the car and let him open the trunk. They ended up taking the guns from him AARGH #2. I still don't think he realizes how bad it could have been if he walked those guns up to the front desk.

Oh the humanity! (One of the funniest skits from TV history) Lets see how many of us are old enough to get the reference though.

They sure came back from near extinction well in southern ontario. They are everywhere now. Was it DDT that caused the downfall? I know for birds of prey that was the issue.
