  1. There are other creek / river mouths that receive smaller runs that might be a better choice for and evening paddle.
  2. It was also the Paladium and the Corel Centre , but then I'm old
  3. Cubic inches always wins when towing over all the horsepower/ torque technobabble.
  4. Thirty years of fishing Haliburton Walleye, eat an early supper and fish until midnite.
  5. Had V-6's for the last 30 years, 2 GM's 4.3's and pickup and a van, now a 3.7 Jeep, I wouldn't consider towing any more than 3000 pounds tops with any of them and definitely a bit less if going across Canada.
  6. Seriously , Glen Abbey is a designated heritage site?? it was designed by Jack Nicklaus in '76

Dave I think that the Town of Oakville was more interested in halting the development of Glen Abbey rather than the heritage of the golf course

Come to Barrie and see STUPID developing. And piece of land that can be bought up will be. And they will build. One corner here wants to build 4 luxury townhomes. Ya ok. You should see the crap they are building here these days. Light a match, and they are up in flames.

  7. Dils Lake, it's a Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority Camp near Wellandport, there is a lake with good largemouth and panfish and also you can Launch into the Welland River. https://npca.ca/conservation-areas/chippawa-creek
  8. Pretty much a non event here , even at the height of coverage it was sunny and distinct shadows, it gets darker out with a cloud passing over the sun. All the hype leads you to believe you'd have to turn on headlights and the streetlight would come on .
  9. First it was racism now you played the sexism card too.
  10. since when is foreigners a race ? Foreigners would could include WASP Brits and Americans, Some carry this PC bull too far.
  11. I'm trying to wrap my tired old brain around this, why would looking at the sun during an eclipse be any worse for your eyes than looking at it on a normal clear day?
  12. Your figures might be off a bit but point well made.
  13. Always liked Orbison better than Presley , especially after about 1960.
  14. Provincial Taxes

  16. 5 cubic feet of water is over 300 pounds, I doubt the freezer liner is designed for that kind of load and the inertia of that water may be a problem when braking, most water tanks are baffled.
  17. You said you loved your Jeep Liberty.
  18. Think there are two set of scales for overlimit fines, one for locals who just want to fill the larder for the family and another for out of town tourists. Well maybe a third set too, but we won't discuss that.
  19. that would make sense, for lifting water from the creek at one time for irrigation.
  20. As a university student I was park naturalist there the summers of 73 and 74, did a lot of shore fishing and wading, my usual access point for fishing the canals was the small parking lot and launch ramp that the duck hunters use in the fall off the north end of Howey Ave. Lots of bluegills and crappie and some small largemouth and a bunch of hammer handle snot rockets in those canals.
  21. Pike spearing in the local creek was one of the first things we did as teens every spring, would have been in the sixties when I was in high school, March and April was the open season. Not sure when they cancelled it. A few 5 prong spear heads came out of the high school metal shop
  22. Interesting is the fact that the average Canadian gun owner actually owns more guns than the average American gun owner, the Canadians gun owner are hobbyists where a lot of Americans often only have one in the nightstand just in case, dragging the number down. I believe the average Canadian gunowner owns something like 5 point something firearms.
  23. Bowhunted deer there late 70's /80's, grabbing lunch at a restaurant on the east end of town on HWY 3, you felt out of place if you were not in full camo on the weekend, camo face paint was optional
  24. 13,000 KMS is 2 years worth of driving for me, 2006 Jeep Liberty with 76,000 on the odometer, I just do a spring and fall oil change , never close to 5K before it is changed.
