If I put your rose coloured glasses on Michael I see no one going out on the ice too early, no one drinking while ice-fishing, no one leaving their garbage behind on the ice, everyone wearing their survival suits and ice-picks, everyone checking ice thickness on lakes never before fished, nobody keeping any walleye, no one trespassing on private property for access and no drowning deaths this winter in the Kawarthas. I have to take the glasses off now they're giving me a headache. I wish everyone a safe winter season but I'm a realist at heart. By the way my bets on Sturgeon lake.

Any bets on which Kawartha lake claims the first ice fisherman? I figure by Jan. 3rd someone will go down for the count.

The true blue doesn't grow as big as the yellow walleye and has a larger eye higher up on the head. Kinda like frog eyes.

I've seen both chain and red fin pickeral caught in the Grand between Elora and Bloomingdale but that was many years ago now.

If they didn't they would slide right out of the net when going down for a save.

Saw this one having a nap in the Grand river a few weeks ago near Conestogo.

I'm not a Habs fan but that ceremony was done with more class and dignity than I think any other franchise could pull off. Even getting Gordie Howe to help the old guys out onto the ice without falling down. He should have put on the Richard jersey and snuck into the photo.

Every team has a HOT stretch once in the season, the Leafs are just finishing up theirs now. And a heads up for those that don't know, there's a special Friday night edition of "Hockey Night in Canada" tonight to celebrate the Habs 100th year in the league. Boston vs Montreal at 7pm. It'll be nice to watch a game on CBC, that doesn't involve the Leafs, for a change.

Just checking the facts. In the division the Leafs are 5th out of 5 teams. In the conference they are 14th out of 15 teams. In the league they are 29th out of 30 teams. I can see how all their fans would be excited. Thank Maurice and his Hurricanes. Start planning the parade route.

No, neither of these clubs will make the playoffs this year.

After watching the game I tuned in to see the end of the Blackhawks vs Bluejackets game. It was like going from a junior "B" game to an NHL game. The pace was faster the passing was accurate and there weren't offsides and pucks going out of play every 30 seconds. I really think the NHL needs to go divisional like european soccer. Put the weaker teams down in a lower division and keep the top 16 or 18 teams in the premier division. Maybe then teams would be forced to try and ice a winning team to stay up in the top league.

If you get the chance to see a game at the old barn in Galt, where the Winterhawks play, don't miss it. This building is the oldest one in North America and pre-dates MLG.

My daughter loves the little white and pink ones for perch fishing. We always find them at Crappy Tire.

Can't blame Wilson, he's got no players, that's why he is desperately trying to find a combo that works. Nothing halfway decent on the farm either so bringing guys up won't help. They are playing at their potential right now. I think I might have over estimated their finishing with 54pts.

Looks like Boston will have their pick of either Taylor or Tyler. I feel sorry for Ian White, hopefully he'll get traded to a real team.

Any bets on which lake a car will go through first? Or which one will claim the first ice-fisherman? And don't worry, I'm sure no one will take advantage to poach any walleye while they're out there. I do like the length limit going up on muskies though.

All conservation areas should be "No Gas Motors" and ice-fishing should be banned or every second year if the lake can support it.
