  1. If you decide not to take the others up on borowing one, check Stephensons Rent-all or some place sicilar, I know they are available. Maureen
  2. Hey Joey, I'm confident there will be enough ice, but if not, we'll still have the BBQ, and I will just draw prizes....maybe have some silly contest, longest cast with an ice fishing pole lol think good thoughts about enough ice though Blake, I'll get back to ya... Maureen
  3. Hey all, I thought I'd let you know a little of what I have so far in the way of prizes and auction items. For the Auction I have confirmation that the fishing charter from U & Me Guide Service will be available once again, I have a couple of other cool items I'm waiting for confirmation on so will leave you waiting with anticipation on those Dave Mercer has once again commited to providing us with prizes as has Bass Pro Shops (picked those up....NICE! ) a couple of memeber from this board has also commited to some prizes. This year we also have to say thanks to Kevin and Leslie from Lakair for thier donation. I have sent out requests to others who have sponsored us in the past, but have yet to hear from them, but I am confident that they will come through again, and we will have prizes available for all. Big Cliff will be taking care of the BBQ so if anyone can help him out in that area, I'm sure he will appreciate it. Looking forward to another great day! Thanks to all of you Maureen
  4. Well it's beginning to look like we might get some ice after all, not that I would have cancelled this great event . I think this year will be bigger and better, I can feel it in my bones....or is that the cold 3rd annual Fishing for Tyler Get together. Tyler French is ten years old, lives in Alcona ON and is autistic. We are holding our third annual ice fishing fund raiser/G2G on Sat February 24th, 2007 at the Innisfil Beach Park boat launch, to help raise money for Tyler’s much needed ABA, speech, and other therapies. This year we are hoping to raise enough money to help Tyler get a special bike so that he can develop more physically as well as share in a family activity of riding bikes together for the first time. Time: 7:00am check in, last fish measured at 1:00pm, prizes to follow . Cost: 16 and over, $10.00min., under 16 no charge, but donations gratefully accepted. Pizes: 1st, 2nd and 3rd for the longest Perch, and the same for the longest Whitefish/Laker , with a draw following. To get there, take Hwy 400, or Yonge St. to the 8th line (Innisfil Beach Rd.), Go East on Innisfil Beach Rd, to the end, turn left into the park, follow the rd. to the right, past the snack bar to the boat launch. Once again we will have the BBQ going at full steam, and hot drinks available, and hopefully a return of the Port-a-Potty. This year it looks like we will have a couple of special guests as well, but I'll wait until I get more info on that i can't find my copy of the map, but it is on the earlier thread. I will create another thread regarding the prize table. Looking forward to seeing all of you this year. Maureen
  5. Good stuff Lew, I'm not sure I could have done that, but I would have called someone to come get him out. I bet the little gaffer will be gratefull once he's feeling better Maureen
  6. A little extreme using a piece of finger for bait isn't it Cliff??? Glad you two are having a good time there, hope you're taking lots of pics to share with us poor folk left up here in the cold Maureen
  7. Like most have already said, do what feels comfortable to you. i am right handed, cast with my right, switch hands and reel with my right. I've tried reeling with my left hand but it just feels weird. Maureen
  8. JP I would love to go, but I'd likely only go to the one in Vaughn, I do enough driving as it is . As for work, well ya I think I work too much , but I do work weekends, my days off are during the week. Good luck to everyone who enters, and don't forget to take notes for the rest of us Welcome aboard Dave maureen
  9. Count me in, so that makes 21 for sure....might let someone tag along...who knows Maureen
  10. congrats Lexx, the look on his face is priceless, seems like he's thinking "enough with the pictures already" Maureen
  11. Nice fish, good first post Welcome aboard Maureen
  12. I've been with Rogers for years, tried Bell once but didn't like their customer service so I went back to Rogers. As for a signal up at Lakair, no Joey, I didn't have one, had to go to almost 64 to get one. If I'm not mistaken Wayne gets a signal because he has a phone with Analog capabilities. The new digital phones aren't as good in the outlying areas. I have a had time getting a signal up here as it is. Maureen
  13. Who wouldn't want to spend their BD at Lakair among fifty of their closest friends they've never met??? I went up for the day on my Birthday last year. Definitely worth it. Maureen
  14. Well, winter is here to stay me thinks. Looking at the long term forcast, if it holds, we should have some good ice within a week or two. Just in time for my vacation I don't know how to do the link thing, but here it is http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/1...es/CAON0040.htm Happy winter Maureen
  15. Can't really help you out here, but a friend of mine's cousin just turned 50 and his brother gave him a fly in fishing trip to Great Bear Lake NWT in July. He was pretty stoked to say the least. Hope you find a good place. Maureen
  16. Hey Cliff, great to hear from you. Glad you're finally getting a chance to relax. I too have had a cold for the last week, but I'd rather have it in florida than here . Enjoy yourself and say hey to Sue Maureen
  17. Sounds like a great way to spend the day, sadly I am working so I won't take away another persons chance at it. Dang job Maureen
  18. I heat with wood so obviously the back room which is furthest from the wood stove is always the coolest, and the room with the stove is the warmest. I have a couple of portable heaters that I use when it gets really cold out, but for the most part it's warm enough without them. Maureen
  19. Aww heck, I give my dogs deer legs all the time....as Pam said, much better than a skunk Maureen
  20. Good to hear Pikehunter, and I'm glad you're not driving even if the Doc says it's ok...much better to wait an extra day or two and stay safe. Maureen
  21. Good luck Dave, and you can go home on weekends, or you could a few years ago when a co-workers wife went there. Maureen
  22. As always Ron, those are some amazing pictures. Maureen
  23. My firend who's sons I bought the fishing gear for sent me this little story about her boys today that I thought some of you might enjoy... Only my kids! I caught Kaeleb going through his tackle box today without supervision which I've discouraged as I don't want them getting a hook in the hand. I sat down with him and showed him all the stuff and the hooks etc. He was soooo taken with the fake fish that he wanted one as a pet! He ran into the kitchen and got a blueberry container to house his pet fish and everything! It was so funny. So I told him he could have one and that was it as they were for fishing! So he had a pet fish and a pet grub. Daelin ended up with a pet fish and a pet grub as well, then I hid the tackle boxes. Too funny eh? So what's going to happen when they catch one are they going to want to keep it as a pet???
  24. All I'd like is to get out fishing more often, I barely got to wet a line last year . I think if that happens I'll reach my other goals of catching new spieces, or new personal bests. I also hope to take my freinds boys fishing a few times and really get 'em "hooked" Maureen
