  2. Lodge 88 is the real deal. A friend of mine John Yukich who is from the Sault has been guiding at lodge 88/Marmac for 25 years. He has guided on a few episodes of Fishin Canada, Going Eating with Cronzy and the Fish Tv boys the past couple years. Fishing for walleye, pike and both lakers, specks is amazing....Can't go wrong with going to lodge 88. I also know of a lodge that I have visited twice which is a train to lodge in Oba Ontario. These guys have guided all over canada and now run a small operation that is pretty much a one on one guided fishing experience on some amazing lakes.(cheaper then fly ins) Video from the Oba Lodge Oh and yes the fishing is that much better.... if you want anymore info PM me, TDunn

  10. Uni-Knot for braid here....when using fluoro/mono leaders I attach them with either a barrel swivel or back to back uni knots... I also tie braid direct to the lure sometimes.....different conditions (i.e heavy weeds)..... TDunn
  11. Dara is right, not to much in our neck of the woods forsure. East of the Soo there is a chain of lakes which I am sure are the ones you have hit. There isnt tons for inland eyes around here (within 2 hours) but there is some big fish in that chain east of the city. Ive seen and caught them... If you are going north, you have tilley thats about it. Tilley is ok, I guess. Its full of bananas (12-14inches), honeslty I havent been there in 3-4 years myself but I did see one 27 incher caught in may about 6-7 years ago. If your willing to drive or stay overnight there are possibilites in the wawa, white river, or even up the chapleau highway(129). Maybe try Bright Lake out....easy access..... Clearly the river is where the eyes are at around here.....but thats not until after schools done... PM if you want....oh did you get any pike at that spot???? I took my cousin out the day before it closed. We only got 3, one of his was in the mid thirties tho... TDunn
  12. that was my understanding also.... TDunn

    Rain Gear

I have and use two pairs of bibs. Cabelas insulated guidewear which are very warm and have not leaked in two years fishing. I also picked up a pair of uninsulated bibs from gander mountain last year called TecH20. Very reasonable price and they have not leaked at all either. Both have held up to Northern Ontario standards and I wear them both in the winter occasionally. I would think your decision is really based on how much you want to spend. If I was in the market for a new pair I would be looking at BPS 100 MPH...... TDunn
  17. Ive been called before....its not all that fun....pretty much just sit there until they call you up, have a look at you and make a decision. Thats if you don't know anyone involved, if you do you will be dismissed before the picking process. TDunn
  18. As Anders said cooked rice and noodles. My fav is a little roe tho.... TDunn
  19. I had this done in London at Perfect Image. Its not a fish but a Gamagatsu walleye wide gap hook, my fav for spinner rigs. Its my one and only tattoo...... TDunn
  20. Ive yet to fish a tourny in the NOPWT. My understanding is that it is a serious tournament series. Contact one of the people on the board of directors. I contacted Jamie Robinson and asked him a few questions. He replied quickly with some good info. TDunn

  24. I went back to school and I am almost done! i'll have a college business diploma by the end of 2010 hopefully! I too have been working construction for about 5-6 years and decided working for someone else is not gonna cut it forever. A friend of mine worked for sal-dan and as you said couldnt stand it. He went out the next week got a business name and voila he was his own boss. I took a job with him last year and we did garage, fence and deck installs for a few hardware stores in town plus a few private jobs. We were busy until xmas..........Now Im hitting the books again I was contacted about 2 weeks ago from a general contractor in town becasue he heard I went to school for business. It sounds like he is going to give me an opportunity to work as a supervisor on a few of his jobs if his bids are taken. Without taking a step towards education i would still be humping shingles for my uncle. For extra cash you may have noticed a few articles I have written for TJ. That has lead to being contacted by a few other mags and now i am in the process of starting my own business of writing/guiding. Moneys not amazing yet but its something i enjoy and it involves fishing! Good luck man, hope you find what your looking for....I have to head too class now for a test then Im off to wakomata for the weekend laker hunting... TDunn
