A 30 and 32 incher out of there a few years back...I dont know the ice conditions but you should be able to tell when you get there if people have been fishing.. Good luck and I'll see ya around the college this winter Pikie TDunn
  2. Yep that was us!!!!blue ford just before the bay
  3. Wow I thought we hiked a long way saturday into the park.....well over 10 Km. We also had to strip down on the lake and change clothes before we started fishing....That will wake you up!!!!! Although we caught fish (10 lakers and 2 brookies) we never got anything much for size....But catching orange fin natural lakers is the bomb! That 4.5 pound brookie is a beauty!!!Cant ask for much better Great report Anders....I look forward to your next LSPP report!!! Ice/snow beards rock! TDunn
  4. A good idea sometimes is to deadstick a line with a small jig (Genz worm, tear drop, forage minnow) beside your jigging hole....Fish come in for your jigging presentation but hit your deadstick. Somedays it is deadly, some days your jigging rod will clean house instead..... Give it a shot TDunn
  5. Awesome! Nice fish! I too was in the park yesterday chasing lakers/brookies. Geez it was freezing in the am forsure.... TDunn
  6. Haha no thats not Pat...Its me in the pic ..I kinda look like him with a beard tho I guess..... TDunn
  7. Ha I wish I had a better place to steer you too redneck....but really for walleye around here you have rock, gordon and that chain of lakes....or tilley... None of them are secrets...and to tell you the truth I have never put in a ton of time in at any... If your looking for quality walleyes your driving.... Rock is a big lake with easy access so it might be a place to start. I fish rock on the ice a few times a year but the majority of my walleye hunting is done in a boat when in the Soo area. I landed my personal best walleye a few years back at rock and I have seen a few other trophies caught so I know there are big fish available ....I did a skin mount but I now wish I would have went artifical Hope this helps......Oh and theres perch! TDunn
  8. I started fishing leighs bay almost 3 weeks ago. I was there last on the 23rd or 24th and there was 6 inches of good ice Fishing wasnt awesome but we caught fish every time Im sure there is a bunch of people there everyday now Oh and haviland has shacks but......be careful I'll be chasing trout in lake superiour park this weekend... 9. I was back out on the ice in search of perch with my cousin Ted. After covering a ton of water we came to the conclusion that we should maybe put more effort into catching pike rather than perch. We used Tip up/Smelt combo for set lines and we jigged williams spoons and jigging rapalas. Ended up going 6/8 on the northerns with another hefty fish landed.....But the best fish was lost at the hole! The camera was foggy so the pics arent the best....This fish was taken on a tip up.... Release This was the heartbreaker for the day... Part of the fight (Foul language used once) Lose the pike at the hole Hope you enjoyed TDunn
  10. Nice Dr.S... Geeez it was cold today... TDunn

  12. Yep self timer is priceless....and yes I too find solo fishing a great mind reset Nope no plop when she came up Thanks Mike, you too! Thanks and ya It was a nice gash. It bleed for quite awhile after I released the fish...but today it doesnt look like much of a cut...
  13. Had the afternoon free today and decided to hit the ice solo. Slow start, pretty much just drilled holes and went into search mode. I never did get on to anything much the first hour and but by 2:00 pm I had found some fish that were very finicky. I was fishing agressive with jigging raps and spoons with not much luck so I decided to slow it down and fish some forage minnows with live minnows. Needles to say I found out very quickly this was a much better approach. The action wasnt fast and furious, I had to really use my vex and coax the fish into biting. Perch, Crappie, Largemouth and Northern Pike were caught today.... Best panfish for the day Beautiful pike caught on a 32 inch ultra light with 4# line. It took me a solid 20 minutes to land this fish...measured in at a bit over 38 inches That is all my blood by the way....she got me but well worth it... Going back It was a great way to end 2009... Good luck to everyone in the new year TDunn
