Personnaly I believe the 3 way rig is one of the most effective methods to catch trout. In the video the guy has a long lead to the sinker and short to his hook. i do the opposite for trout/salmon. Good tip from timmeh about the lighter line to the sinker....Another is to pre tie a few 3 ways before you head out.....Just dont tie on the sinker or hook..Snags are a part of bouncing bottom and there is nothing more frustrating then having to tie 5 knots every time. Good luck TDunn Oh and set the hook on anything that feels wierd!

I have a pair of gander mountain TecH2O unisulated and a pair of cabela's guide wear insulated bibs.... No complaints about either.... gander mountain is very reasonable...But it is in the USA so i dont know if your close enough to drive or if you would have to ship.... Northface jacket that is not uninsulated and when its cold I just wear a helly hanson floater in the boat.... TDunn

coarse sea salt is cheap and easy..... 1)strip eggs off skein 2)mix with coarse sea salt 3)Put in fridge in for a few hours until your desired texture(i usually wait until i can see a wrinkle in the egg) 4)Rinse 5) Back to fridge in strainer 6) then air dry. or just buy procure...its cheap and works awesome.... I would just like to point out a few things about the 3 lines mentioned. They all have a place and time to use them. Examples.... Fireline jigging walleyes out of weeds light biting walleyes when jigging deep water trolling (cranks) gets the bait deeper casting cranks into weedy area Mono aggressive jig bite jigging rocky areas trolling spinners either on bottom bouncers or split shot rigs flatlining cranks in the top of the water column (keeps the bait up) Fluoro Leader material ( I use it on most rigs) super gin clear lakes So to sum it up...I use fireline in and around weeds and light biters.....mono near rocks and with aggresive bites... And finally fluoro usually only as a leader or in super super clear lakes... TDunn

Hey OFC'ers This report is going to include a few pics from fishing atlantic salmon and a week long trip I took north of Sault Ste. Marie. My girlfriend is lucky enough to have a camp just outside of Hornepayne. I was very excited for this trip as I havent been up to this camp for 3 years and this group of friends havent spent as much time together since having kids and moving for jobs. We took off a day earlier than everyone else so we could get a head start on getting the camp ready for a party of 14. 11 Adults (1 pregnant) and 3 kids (2 of which are babies). This was the first camp trip the parents have made with the children so nobody really knew what to expect but we all had our fingers crossed that things would work out....And they did! We had a blast, the kids slept well for the most part,we caught enough fish to keep everyone busy and have two good fish frys. On day one we started out with small fish at the places I have caught fish in previous years. Day two we decided to work our way down the lake into new water and we found more and bigger fish immediatly. By the end of the week we had five waypoints all within a one-two minute boat ride between eachother. We bascially sat on these spots for the week in the morning for 2-3 hours and the evening for 2-3 hours catching walleyes on jig/gulp, jig/realistics, jig/live minnow, crawler harness/split shot and slow death/split shot drifting with the wind over weeds in 5-10 feet of water. I had good intensions of trying to catch some whitefish with the aqua-view, a vexilar, wax worms and noodle rod I brought but never made it out due to higher winds all week and everyone having way to much fun fishing walleyes. Although the numbers were good, we didnt land any trophies on this trip. The crew (from the soo, sudbury and thunder bay) Rigging up Minnow Trap Fishin Ranch Potatoes, broiled walleye and deep fried walleye Beer battered walleye leftovers Anyways we had a great time can't wait to go back up.... Before the trip we were hitting up the St Marys for some atlantic action. I had the pleasure of fishing with a few different friends and family members during the atlantic season and most of them got into one! Well the pacific salmon are up next.....Heading out tonight.... This is a preview of ari vinebergs new fishing show called The Fishin Life. The concept of the show is not about promoting new tackle and gear, but based around why people fish and why anglers become such "diehards". I thought many on the board would be interested. Im not exaclty sure if a network has picked the show up yet but I am pretty sure OLN is interested...... TDunn

Are you in a boat or shore fishing? Its a whole different ball game if your in a boat. How have you been doing for whities? I have been pounding them the last 2 weeks but since the insane shad fly hatch a few days a go they shut off for me. Got a nice atlantic yesterday off the peir(superiour side) but no whities in an hour and a half so I packed it in. If you have a boat get out there and flat line crankbaits, or streamers and even throw a flutter spoon down a few feet on a rigger if you have them. Atlantics crush these.......... TDunn

I love the site....I havent fished very many of the tournaments yet but I am currently registered for this weeks free tourny and I think i am going to enter more throughout the year. A member by the name of Ari Vineberg aka dragon slayer has just completed filming a pilot for a television show featuring bounty members across Ontario. I was lucky enough to be invited on the show and I cant say enough good things about the site...It is a great concept but it may need a little bit of tweaking still.... TDunn
