When we lived in Milton our neighbour use to get a bunch of lobster flown back on the May 24 weekend every year. Being that he was from the East coast I figured that was probably the best time to get it but from what I understand the seasons are open at different times in different areas. I'm looking for fresh from the trap into the pot kind of lobster and lots of it LOL.

Super thread! Sue and I are planning to take a month in 2012 (we are thinking June) and head East. We both love almost any kind of sea food but lobster would be very high on our list. Any ideas of where the best lobster would be available that time of the year? We are thinking of just staying in little B&Bull and such, just be nomads for a month. I'll be watching this thread for thoughts and ideas!

Did you use fuel stabilizer in your gas? BTW, the only down side to using muffs is that you are applying water under pressure and it won't show you if the impeller is in good shape or not. Just make sure that when you put the motor in the lake it does pee properly before you head away from the launch.

Do you buy car insurance, life insurance, house insurance? Buy piece of mind insurance! A good, certified marine mechanic will do a whole lot more than just change the oil, filter, and plugs. He will run the engine up, he has the scanner to tell him what the engine is and has been doing, he will tweek it if required and be able to spot any potential problems before you get left stranded. I am a licensed small engine mechanic and I take my merc to a dealer for service. Save a few bucks now?? What did that motor cost you? What will it cost you if you have to get towed off the lake. I like Buckhorn Marine in Bobcayegon, they have always been fair with me and I like the quality of work that they do. They will give you an estimate. Oh and before some smart ass claims I'm just trying to promote the trade, I pay full shop rate when I take it in and I do know where the oil filter is and then some!

I'd talk to BLY if I were you TJ! -
Well, I might be a little optimistic here but I am hoping (weather permitting) for the 16th I'll have to see once the ice is out if the marine railway was gamaged by the ice but as long as it stood up OK then we should be good to go. I do know I have to do some repairs to the dock before it can go back in, with them raising and lowering the water after freeze up it did some damage but nothing an hour or two and a few wood screws won't fix. Oh, and Jigs dinner it is LOL

Yesterday there was no open water out in front of our place, in fact I was out fishing on 10" of ice on Sunday, today there is plenty of open water and the ice is going faster than I have ever seen it go out. There is still some ice in Goose Bay but at this rate there won't be any ice visible by the weekend. Can you say marine railway getting hoocked up, docks repaired and open water fishing within 10 days!

I typed out a really nice message saying how much I loved this site and how wonderful all the mods were, went to send it and boom gone! Now you'll just have to settle for the short version. I just want to say this is; what the heck, you'll just have to figure it out for yourself!

Nope, had a few problems lately. all other sites I go to seem to be OK.

You have a wonderful Bday kid, I'll bake you a cake next time you are up this way fishing! Lew, stand by with the fire extinguisher this is going to be a mini version of a Beans cake but watch out global warming LOL.

I am so sorry and I want you to know I am thinking of you and what you and your family must be going through right now. Please accept my condolences. I can only imagine how difficult this must be for you. Carry her memory forever in your heart.

I'll bet that has an electric choke on it right? What is probably happening is that the choke isn't closing properly. If you pull the cover off it, and close the choke manually I'll bet it starts fine and the rest of the day it will be perfect. The solonide that works the choke seems to wear out and although it will work the choke, it won't close it all the way. Check that out and let me know.

Probably a bad ground causing the engine to not turn over however turning over but not starting is likely another problem. Do you use fuel stabilizer on a regular basis?

I was traveling at the speed limit, it was an open section of road and I was a safe distance behind him (I did manage to avoid hitting him) If his brake lights had been working there wouldn't have even been an issue. In in the last 40 years I have never had an "at fault" accident although I guy did run a red light about three years ago and T-Boned me and I almost managed to get out of his way. Hell I haven't even had a parking ticket in something like 35+ years so I'd say I'm probably a fairly safe driver LOL. Yes I did Wayne, and yes they did check my vision and it is 20/20. I got a clean bill of health to drive without glasses. In fact it is probably better now than it has been in the last 20 years. Anyway, there was no harm done, I just wondered who would have been at fault, I guess I have my answer now.

Thanks for posting that! Doesn't seem fair some how, you don't expect someone to suddenly stop in front of you and their brake lights not come on. Isn't there a charge for having defective tail lights or something; Failure to signal???
-
I didn't know his brake lights wern't working when I almost hit him, I just thought I must have missed seeing them. There was no problem with me stopping the second time he did, that is when I realized that his brake lights were not working!

Was driving along today and suddenly the van in front of me was stopped, I hit the brakes and managed to pull to the shoulder without hitting him but thought to myself "I never even saw his break lights come on, crap, I have to pay more attention!" A few blocks later he stops again but this time I am watching and his brake lights aren't working at all. If I had hit him, who would be charged? I managed to get up beside him and got him to roll down his window and told him he had no brake lights, he just laughed and said thanks then drove off. I probably should have reported it to the OPP but I hadn't written down his plate number or anything and he and I went different directions at the lights so I wouldn't have been much asssistance in helping them find him. Would I have been charged with following too close or careless if I had hit him? It was a full sized van so I know I wouldn't have taken out his tail lights but I wouldn't have had anyway to prove that they weren't working before the accident.

Gas all the way! But like Art said, either blow out the lines or use RV antifreeze in the pump if it will be stored below zero or for more than 3 months. I just made up a short piece of hose to hook to the inlet of the pump and pour the antifreeze in to it. Also STABILIZER in the gas!!!
