  1. We laugh together, we cry together, fall down and there will be many hands to help you back up. Need anything, just ask, if we can make it happen, it will be done. Hurt just one of us and you'll think you just steped on a hornets nest! I am proud to be a member of this community, some might think of it as a fishing board but we are so much more, fishing is just a common bond.
  2. A few years ago we had a cat that had to be put down, she was very old and very sick. One of the Vets here in Lindsay wanted me to pay them $48.00 to do a physical on the cat before they would put her down and then the cost of putting her down and If I wouldn't let them do and charge me for the physical, they wouldn't put her down. That was the last time I ever went to that vet. We found another one that took one look at the cat and agreed that it was time. Been going to that one ever since. You have to believe that when a vet crys as much as you do when she has to give your dog that final needle she has the pets best intrest in her heart. Here is something that I think sums it all up very nicly: JUST A DOG From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a dog," or "that's a lot of money for just a dog." They don't understand the distance travelled, the time spent, or the costs involved for "just a dog." Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a dog." Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a dog," but I did not once feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by "just a dog," and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a dog" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day. If you, too, think it's "just a dog," then you probably understand phrases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise." "Just a dog" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy. "Just a dog" brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person. Because of "just a dog" I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future. So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a dog" but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment. "Just a dog" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day. I hope that someday they can understand that its' not "just a dog" but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "just a man" or "just a woman." So the next time you hear the phrase "just a dog," just smile, because they "just don't understand." ~Unknown Author~
  3. How does about 11:00 work for you?
  4. Skeeter, if you can make it we'd love to have you but please don't make a special trip up here just for that. We have pikeslayer, his son, and a college buddy coming to help. If all goes well it should only take about an hour or two. Thank you so much! My friend, don't worry about it! While I'd love to see you again I totally understand. God bless your daughter, I'm sure she will be a comfort to those who's family can't be there with them. Cliff
  5. Well, from an employeers perspective, an ultimatium from an employee ie, "I've been offered more money...." would have you walking out the door about as quickly as I could get rid of you! I would take it as a threat. Now, if you came to me and said "boss, I've been looking at the cost of traveling, what others in my position are getting paid for the same work that I am doing, and while I really don't want to leave, I have to consider it, is there anything we could work out?" I would probably do what ever I could to find a way to work with you! From an employees perspective I would have to say that job security is worth a lot more than the promise of things to come. Whatever you decide to do I wish you good luck!
  6. And I never got to shake his hand and thank him for all he did for my daughter. We were going to get together this summer at our place, relax, enjoy some fishing. What a very sad day for sure, he was one of the best! All our best to the family, he will be missed by many, forgotten by very few!
  7. I wouldn't give him a used one unless it was in really good condition. Occasionally we get trimmers and things where someone forgot to put oil in the gas. (or they've tuned it up themselves ) The motors aren't worth fixing and they don't want the unit back so we just use them for parts. Where is your shop, I'll drop by next time I'm in the area. Cliff
  8. No my friend, with that wind and rain we didn't even bother trying. Might try to do it on Friday if the weather holds. Cliff
  9. Sorry, I thought I might have one from a scrapped trimmer but it won't fit yours. If you can wait a couple of days, I'll check with a local shop that I use to work for, they might have one. Probably $5.00 if he does.
  10. I think this whole thread has gone way out in left field. The guy was honest, he made an honest mistake and asked an honest question and he has taken a real bashing for it. To be quite frank, I've been just as guilty as he was without realizing it, Sue and I have gone out fishing, she has caught her limit and continued to fish, we throw all our fish in the one live well in the boat. I didn't realize we were doing anything wrong. We've never taken our full limit but always thought we could. I have also fished with other members of this board who shall remain nameless where they have given me some of their fish so that I would have enough for a feed when I got home. Technically we were guilty of party fishing too I guess, we just didn't get caught. I and these other people respect and abide by the rules but I never realized that we couldn't give someone a couple of fish because that is what this boils down to. BRF, I suggest you go to court on this one, let me know when and where, you can call me as a witness to the fact that the rules are ambiguas! I am 65, been fishing my whole life, never been charged with anything always try to abide by the rules. If I found them hard to understand then I'm sure many others do too. And the rest of you, instead of bashing this guy for a simple mistake, why don't you offer to go to court too and testify on his behalf? If the rules need to be changed or laid out more clearly then lets do something to help make that happen. Flagrant abuse is one thing, an honest misunderstanding is another!
  11. I'd report her, we alredy paid for them through our tax dollars, she is just ripping people off.
  12. OK, so that is Sue Bignell 313 Snug Harbour Rd. Lindsay, ON K9V 4R6 Oh, and I'll be there when she opens the package so just watch what else you put in there LOL.
  13. It is in our government's best interest to see prices kept high, we are taxed on a percentage of what we spend, the higher the price, the more we pay in taxes. I don't have the exact number but I believe it is something in the range of 15 billion a year as of last year. If prices were to drop to $0.50 a liter they would loose billions in tax revenu. You are going to pay it one way or the other. Same thing with tobacco sales, they spend millions of dollars to make us believe that people shouldn't smoke but tax you on the stop smoking aids. Taxes on tobacco currently provide about 7 billion a year to the government coffers. If they really wanted you to stop smoking they'd be supplying the stop smoking aids for a fraction of what they cost you now or at least remove the taxes on them. Think about it? How many billions would they loose in tax revenu if smoking was reduced by even 50%. Someone has to pay for all those big pay cheques and fat pensions that our politicans get, When prices go up they just give themselves raises, we just dig deeper. Democracy as far as I am concerned is just a dictatorship with many heads. Doesn't matter who you vote for, the end result is always the same! They can lie, steal, cheat, take kick backs, line their pockets, and there is no accountability even when they are caught.
  14. Really makes you wonder about the 2012 phenomenon?
  15. Oh man, have you got a keeper there (and I don't mean the camera). Happy Bday bud!
  16. Shut up Roy, I need some new OFC decals!
  17. OK, I know you already have a float rod, and since you are donating the bass rod, I'm going with 1, 3, 5, and 6 for you. Do I win? Do I win?
  18. Wow man, I don't know what you are smoking but can I get some of that? This is just too way indepth for an old guy like me LOL.
  19. Let me check tomorrow I might have a used one in good shape, $39.95 less the OFC discount which would be $39.95. I'll get back to you tomorrow.
  20. Yes, and if I had called the cops to get a poilce report, she would have been charged! I'll be interested in knowing how much your charge ends up costing you in fines, time to go to court, points, and increased insurance.
  21. Sorry, yes you are in the wrong! If I may ask. Why did you buy a conservation license anyway?
  22. And I'd call the cops, how else am I going to know you really are who you say you are? You want me to trust you that you will fix my car but you aren't willing to let me make sure I can find you if you don't? With me, trust is a two way street! In my case I was trying to help her avoid an expensive charge that would have cost her time and money.
  23. A young lady ran into the back end of my car last fall. I was stopped on the highway behind a transport and had been there for a full minute or more, I looked in my miror and saw her coming and a look of horor on her face (and a cell phone in her hand). There wasn't a lot of damage, popped some paint off my back bumper but really shook her up. She offered to fix my car, her uncle owns a local used car dealership. I said fine but give me your license etc.. She refused and I told her that if she didn't give it to me I would have to report the accident to the OPP. She asked if she could call her mom and I told her to go ahead, then I talked to her mom explained that I wanted the license etc. she told the daughter to give it to me and she asked if I could wait a few minutes as the uncle would be right there. He showed up, and promissed that he would get my car fixed and even provide me with a loaner. Turned out that the young lady was a student on her way back to college and was working two jobs to put herself through. Long story short, the car got fixed as promissed, the young lady now knows why cell phones and driving don't mix, and she doesn't have a careless charge on her record because of a stupid mistake. Sometimes you just have to trust people!
  24. So very sorry to hear this Dan, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
  25. Since I live out in the country I find that lower value items aren't really worth posting, no one is going to drive out here to save $15.00 on a $30.00 item. That being said however I have sold several items in the $200.00 range at about 30% off list and did quite well with them. I have had a few tire kickers but for the most part they have all been upstanding honest people just looking to save some money.
