  1. Emily Creek provincial park, they do rent canoes but I think there is a boat rental place not far from there as well. Call and ask them.
  2. We had it here in Sturgeon lake several years ago, didn't spread to any other lakes and seemed quite localized. It is easy to spot if it is around.
  3. Good news my friends, he did as promissed and got in touch with me. He is admitting that he needs some time and help and I have him planning for a future visit all of which is really good. As I said, he is a man of his word and he wouldn't break a promiss to me for anything. Thanks again for all your ideas and PMs they really helped someone you don't even know!
  4. Thanks guys, tried to talk him into going fishing, he doesn't want to talk right now but I did get him to promise he would call me tomorrow. his word has always been gold to him so I am trusting he will keep his promise. He did say that he would CONSIDER talking to his Dr. I think that was more just to keep me happy. Let him know how important he is to me. I'll call 911 if I think it is going down hill from here. Thanks again all! Cliff
  5. OK guys and gals, finally managed to get him to answer the phone and had a good talk with him! I did as suggested and told him that if he didn't talk with me I had a couple of options. I think it helped! I'll stay on top of it! Thanks for all your input! Cliff
  6. Just got an email from a very old friend, he is in a downward sprial, a bad one! He lives about 5 hours drive from me but I think he needs help now!!! I have tried to talk him into talking to a Dr.. Not sure if that will wash. I am so worried about him right now and with all my experience I am having trouble figuring out how/what to do to help him! Please! ideas
  7. And I aplaude you for that! I too was lucky enough to raise a son and daughter that respect and appreciate others but I also know some people, that despite their efforts weren't so lucky. One family had a 15 year old daughter that no matter what they tried was a rebel. She she would stay out all night parting with her friends. Parents tried locking the door, kid called the cops, cops came and made them open the door and let her in. She stole the keys to the family car and went for a joy ride. The parents called the cops. The cops were going to charge the parents for leaving the keys where the kid could find them. (they were in her mothers purse in her parents bedroom) Then the kid accused the mother of assaulting her, the mother got hauled away in handcuffs and it took several months and many people testifing on her behalf and a lot of money in legal fees before the charges were dropped. What happened to the kid, NOTHING! Today she lives in her own apartment (a good portion of which the parents are forced to pay for) she parties with her friends almost every night and her parents can't say or do a thing about it. This is just one example, man I can give you so many more! I have done quite a bit of work with troubled kids over the years and in most cases the parents had been forced by the system to give up. They had no controle and every time they tried to take control, our "system" made them the villen. So, just because your kids, my kids, and many other kids turned out to be good, doesn't mean that other parents haven't tried. We've been lucky! If the first time you had offered to take your kid to the wood shead, you'd ended up in handcuffs, had your kids taken away from you, had to spend all your savings on legal bills, lost your job because you were in jail fighting bogus charges, you might have a little empethy!
  8. It was my stage name way back when I made all those movies
  9. $6.00/doz here in Lindsay. Worms $15.00/100
  10. I'm no Dr. but I would second the spider bite theory. Best thing you can do is go see someone that knows!
  11. The father is a surgeon! Hardly an un educated, irresponsible trouble maker! Have you never made a stupid mistake and if you did, would it be your fathers fault?
  12. I was stopped by the police around 1:00 a. m. the other night and he asked me where I was going at that time of night. I replied, "I am going to a lecture about alcohol abuse and the effects it has on the human body." The officer then asked, "Really? Who is giving that lecture at this time of night?" I replied, "That would be my wife." The bugger made me go home!
  13. I'm sorry guys, teenagers do stupid things sometimes, I know I pulled a few when I was a kid and it was only luck that I didn't end up in trouble or dead. This kid did something really stupid, and while I agree he should be punished for what he did, I don't think it fitting that the rest of his life be ruined for it. As for blaiming his parents: If you have ever tried to raise a teenager you'll know that you have next to no control over them. Hit them, you go to jail. You can't even yell at them, that is verbal abuse. If you want to blame someone, blame the system that has taken "Failed" out of our schools. Blame the system that suspends two kids because they tried to settle a dispute with a good old fassion punching match. Blame the system that took the lords prayer, our national anthem, and teachers control out of our schools. Sure some of these kids make stupid mistakes and decisions. That is why they are called "kids" not adults! Punish the kid; YES, crusify him; NO!
  14. Oh ya! But if it was in an outboard it would sure fly!!!!! Oh wait a minute I guess an aircraft engine is an outboard of sorts! Would that be tiller or centre consel?
  15. I use to guide there many years ago and believe me, you'll be out in the middle of wide open water with not a rock in sight and you'll hit one. As far as I know there aren't any good charts available. Lots of maps but no real marine charts. As for a fish finder, try to borrow one but even then you'll have to be really careful. By the time you see the rock on the fish finder you'll already know it is there and the fish finder will just be another thing bouncing around in the boat!
  16. What do you mean by "blows the plug"? Who told you to mix oil with the gas? What grade of plug are you using?
  17. Go to www.kawarthaatv.com they have all sorts of trail maps and links. They also offer guided rides which would be a super way to introduce you to the trail system in this area.
  18. Oh please no! Not the old fishing stories!!!!! I'll be good, I promise!
  19. Kudos to anyone who helps stop poaching in any way be it a phone call to the authorities or laying charges if you are in the position to do so. Perhaps if the poaching stopped there would be less anamosity toward the people who seem to be doing the poaching. As for the gill netting, if you don't like the laws that allow it then do something to change them. Otherwise respect the rights of those that are operating within the law.
  20. It was a pleasure Beans! And that was the best hot dog I've ever had!
  21. Best way is to take it to a local service station, they will have a tank for waste oil and gas. If it is one that you deal with for service work they will usually just dump it into their tank for you. They have a company that comes and hauls it away for them. If it didn't have water in it, I would just pour it into my car tank, the small amount that you would be adding diluted with a full tank of fresh gas won't hurt your engine at all. You can even do this with gas/oil mix.
  22. Any day fishing with Roy is a good day fish or no fish.
  23. it STARTS to deterioate in about 30 days. Doesn't mean it won't still work though. Depending on what it is stored in, how much gas was in the container, was it well sealed..... there are several factors that affect it. Best bet though is to just use a good fuel stabilizer, then it should keep for up to 2 years.
  24. I might be a little later than that Beans, probably not until about noon, got to help another friend in the morning and just put in a day of hard labour around here. Might sleep in for a bit if I can.
  25. I have a chain saw Simon
