Electric Motor Canoe Set Ups - What's yours look like?
porkpie replied to Governator's topic in General Discussion
They actually row ok believe it or not, and sportspal sets them up for that. No sportspal that I've ever met has paddled very well, that includes my buddies old double ender that we used to duck hunt out of. They are lightweight, easily repairable and pretty stable rigs. I enjoyed fishing and even hunting a couple of times out of mine last season. I only use a motor, either electric or gas, but I did test out the oar situation and it works well enough! -
Electric Motor Canoe Set Ups - What's yours look like?

I have the wide transom 14 foot sportspal. I'D definitely take the above advice. I have a 50lb thrust Minnkota, and when it's windy and you have two guys in the canoe it makes a difference. I also have a 3.5hp outboard. It will darn near plane it out. If you are buying new I'd look at a wide transom rather than a pointed end boat. Especially if you intend to use it mainly with a motor. -
What Are Some Good Frog Hunting Locations In WMU82?

Somebody is a trolling hard! Tight lines huck! -
Good lookin boat!

I hear ya, it's the one item on my boat that if it broke, I would go out and buy another before I got on the water again. GPS in a trolling motor changed the way I fish.

I bought a 2009 Starcraft recently, and it came with a 2010 terrova on it. It works great. Now I don't know how much the previous owner used it, but it goes down every time I'm out. Between my last 3 trips it has about 21 hours continuos run time, and 6 hours of trolling or using it as auto pilot is about average for me every time out. Last trip was 6 hours autopilot and another 3 on spot lock below the dunville dam. Batteries where about pooched but it didn't die on me. If it will break I will break it, but I don't anticipate problems, I wouldn't worry about it!

They are? Uh oh..... lol!

Valid from date of purchase is a new thing in the last couple years. The $20 reduction is pretty cool also! Not to often you see prices going down!

I raised my totalscan just a touch and am getting a decent reading at 35mph. Good enough for me. Spray issue is reduced, but still present.

I loved fly fishing for big gills when I was a kid. Some fun, I might have to give it a go again!

I have a noco gen 1 mini in my old boat. It charges at 4amps and is slow as molasses. It does work well, but if I am fishing back to back I need to throw the charger on the battery. Still, for $50 on sale I wasnt disappointed and it was nice to just plug in. My new boat came with a monster charger And the terrova batteries are charged very quickly. I'd open the wallet!

We caught boat loads of unders on our annual kawartha trip this spring. Plenty of overs as well and still able to keep enough eaters for a real good fry. I was happy with what I saw on the lake I fish. It looked good for future opportunities. Can't speak for the rest of the K lakes other than Rice, where we have done pretty decently in the recent past. But for sure they get pounded being so close to the GTA.

They may have hoped to, but I don't think they did. Either that or my install is bad bad bad lol.

Mine is the same and it throws a hella big rooster tail into the motor as well. Love the unit otherwise! I'm going to raise mine as well.

Gulp Alive: Best way to store them without leaking?
porkpie replied to PUMP KNOWS's topic in General Discussion
This is the product you need. I have one in my boat and throw all the gulp in it. Hasn't leaked yet! -
I would go with a helix 5 as well. Cost effective and mine worked great all winter!

Good for you, so far you are one of the few that understands the whole argument of defending your Charter rights. If you are going to stand on your charter right to what you believe is unreasonable search, then you may be inconvenienced and it will probably take some time. I can respect a guy for being willing to walk the mile, even if disagree with his reasoning. If you are going to knuckle on your belief in your rights and your personal principles and consent to search the minute you realize you might be inconvenienced and it might take extra time, do you really have principles?

I like the way you think!

Well that's something you don't see every day.

Wow, you mean you had a pleasant and normal interaction with a law enforcement professional and carried on about your business after??? UNPOSSIBLE! Next time I suggest you tell him you pay his salary, and if wearing one, flick his tie when you say it! That will guarantee a negative reaction. Next thing you'll be telling me that you where reasonable with him..... In all seriousness, glad it went well, sounds like everyone was reasonable on both ends. Things tend to end well that way!

I used to smash largemouth on a red devil as a kid in the muskokas! Don't throw them much anymore, but a great lure!
