I do my own oil changes, but the shop I go to if you get an oil change it will be done by a licensed mechanic with many years experience.

Bay distributors is top notch. I dealt with them on humminbird warranty and they where fantastic, I also bought some items for my sportspal canoe and they sent me extra hardware and a spare part. I wouldn't hesitate to deal with them, I didn't know they serviced motor guide.

Last summer I had to fish earlier or later due to extreme temps. This year has been pretty consistent. It has been a banner year mainly because I've spent more time in the boat because most days aren't extreme scorchers like last summer. Most days last year I didn't really want to fish through the heat of the day. High water helps I believe. Categorically our best years have always been high water years. Don't ask my why, just many years of observation. This year has been unbelievable for pics!

I have been catching kings on meat rigs as slow as 1.9mph on GPS. 2.5-2.6 is a good clip while pulling paddles. You often need to adjust speed to compensate for current depending on the direction of your troll. Some nice fish there!

I have had Virgin or bell service for a while now. I was able to get reception the last time I stayed at Restoule and that was summer of 2015.

I'm pretty sure it would work well. I never tried it because I've got riggers and they eat easy enough that way, but yah off Jordan I'm pretty sure you could get on top of them and do some damage! Jigging sure works on Simcoe so why not!

Can do plenty damage with dipseys, but a line counter makes life way easier.

I doubt 5hp will show you exceptional increase. If you want to get up go, and your set on upgrading your motor, I'd look for the 40.

If you are talking about using 6 stainless bolts to mount a piece of trex to the back of your boat that is way overkill. My old Lund had a piece of starboard affixed to the back of the boat with nothing but 3m 5200. It's still there 12 years later and my buddy has a humminbird side imaging transducer hanging from it. Currently my Starcraft has a piece of starboard affixed to the boat with 3m 5200 and 2 stainless screws through the transom to hold it in place. Attached to that are a raymarine down imaging transducer and a lowrance totalscan transducer. 6 bolts running through your transom is 4 more than you need. I did use 4 short screws to mount the total scan transducer to the starboard because as you say it is kind of heavy. My advice, don't overthink it or overdo it. As for the trex vs starboard, the way I look at it is that I'm only doing this once every so often as I don't get a boat every year, so I might as well stick with the tried and true. Good luck.

Rain has never stopped me. Even right before a storm, the fishing can be fantastic. My new to me rig has a full stand up top, which is unreal. I fished in torrential downpours up on Nippissing last week, best thing ever for a troller!

Lots of cash for a late model glass fish and ski. Most any boat with enough horsepower can pull tubes and even a wakeboard. I'd decide if I was a fisherman first or if the boat was going to be mainly for tubing etc, and buy accordingly. My family loves the tubing and all that jazz, but my boats main use is fishing, and it's a fishing boat with room for the whole family.

It was $20 for full access to a provincial park, truck full with my family, clean enough washrooms, a store for ice cream etc. And a good big launch. Some friends where camping there, only $40 a night that close to the GTA is a bargain for those looking close to home in that area. Tudhope is nice cause it's free, but I'd spend $20 if I was on that side. Long drive from my place though, and my in laws live 5 minutes from Tudhope, so I doubt I'll be a regular visitor.

So I used the launch at Sibbald point today for the first time. Good launch, decent washrooms and a beach, kids hung out and had a good time. I'd recommend it. The only issue is that the docks aren't right beside the ramps, so launching solo requires jumping in your boat from the trailer and motoring over to the dock, then parking the truck. Otherwise, 2 thumbs up!

For that kind of cash I'd probably save up and invest in a fishawk. Mind you it hurts pretty bad if you lose a probe there too!

Yes it's a lot of money. If you fish a lot and rely on your sonar and GPS, it's worth it. Yes the maps are pretty much the same as the ones on your phone for $15. Yes it's a bit of a rip, but I wouldn't be without it. I was out in the fog this morning and knowing exactly where I am is priceless to me. If you want to fork out the cash, the chip that lets you download whatever part of Ontario is the one to go with. Probably $200. I like having my phone along but navionics takes a lot of battery and I wouldn't rely on it for navigation. That's just me.

The only times I've nearly been able to shake hands with guys are on the Detroit River fishing pickerel and in Owen sound for spring salmon. Any other time and your too close!

Public launch in Orillia across from Tudhope as suggested. It's the only place I bother with Simcoe.

If you are in a trailer park, someone will complain about your generator without a doubt. There is always a small population of folks in trailer parks that complain about everything. John's suggestion is best. Get yourself a small folding dolly from Costco and cut down on time and effort transporting them back and forth. I'd also put in the biggest batteries you can fit in the compartment and that way your likely to get multiple days between charges unless you troll on the bowmount all the time.

You'll be like the guy I saw in Dunville last month before you know it. He had about 10K tied up in a trailer, various tents and sleeping arrangements and a rack of carp rods and hi tech bite alarms. Good grief.
