  1. Back in the 80's I caught what would have been the all tackle world record for carp at 55# had I not released it to fight another day.
  2. From what I have been able to find out the manufacturers max RPMs are 5500 at WOT (wide open throttle) You want your engine to run between 5000 and 5500 at full speed. With the proper prop on there you should pick up some top end speed and save your engine from over revving. Here's some good prop info for you. Propellors 101
  3. First of all you need to know what the top RPM your motor is supposed to turn at full throttle. Hull type, length and weight would help too. If you are hitting te redline at 3/4 throttle you need to change your prop. You should be 200-400 RPM below redline at full throttle. For every inch you go up in pitch you should drop 200 RPM.
  4. Bill Next time you're up that way stop in and apologize to the old girl. Tell her that you did some checking and that she is right and you are sorry. Then maybe she will tell you that you can fish there when ever you want. That Bill, he's such a nice boy!!!
  5. Congrats!!! Where's the pic?? ?? ?? Last month I got second place for my video on Trophy Clips.
  6. JEEBAS MAN, you can see this guy from the International Space Station!!!! Even through all those clouds!!!!
  7. You mean like this or the other left? There's no reason you can't mount it either way as long as you can fasten it.
  8. I've converted my SUV to run on the hot air produced by polititions!!!! There is an unlimited supply and it's free for the taking. In fact they produce more each day than the world could ever use. When we finally contact aliens we will be able to trade our surplus for really cool alien poop!!!!!
  9. Stainless props hold up better when they impact a stationary object but at the cost of possible damage to the lower unit gears. The good thing about aluminum props is their softness (softer than the lower unit gears) so it breaks while saving the gears that are worth a lot more $$$$. Change to a stainless prop that is harder/stronger than the gears and the dears are likely to be the first thing to break. But at least your prop will be ok. Better to go through $100 worth of props rather than $1000 worth of lower unit repairs per incident. Where stainless shines is in areas where hitting rocks, stumps etc are not an issue. Stainless props afford better performance (better holeshot, turning, top end speed) that is what they are designed for not for stump bashing. Bottom line stick with your aluminum, your lower unit will thank you.
  10. There's an easy fix. In order to get a boating or driving license make it mandatory to pass both the vehicular test as well as an IQ test. Any one who gets less than an IQ of 100 gets to take the bus or shore fish. Should weed out 80 or 90% of the loogan's and the other few % we will just have to live with.
  11. If you don't have one put on one of these Hydrofoils for your motor. They provide lift at the motor and it will get you up on plane faster and at a slower speed. Another option for inflatables is a set of trim tabs like these. If you can afford it this is the better option.
  12. If it runs OK with the choke on but not off it's not getting enough fuel. Most likely culprit is a gummed up carb. Run some Sea Foam to your fuel and go run it. If this doesn't solve the issue a carb rebuild may be in order. It could also be a fuel pump problem, but I would check the carb first.
  13. Simple. The same way the small mom and pop hardware store can get you stuff that the stooge at Home Depot says is not available. They care about their customers and put in the extra effort to keep them.
  14. That's not GS Lake though. It was caught in Temagami!!!! Well, er not really it's a Great Bear Trout.
  15. Maybe my buddy was in the next boat holding this guy up.
  16. Wasn't expecting to fish for them and all the spices were at home.
  17. OK, so here's my opinion for what it's worth. If that fish had come from any other lake than Huron, Michigan or Ontario I would have wanted it to go back in the lake. I used to fish lakers in Lake O a lot and over the years have caught plenty in the 25-35 pound range. They grow very quickly down there when compared to Northern fish. They also don't live anywhere near as long. That same size fish up here would be about 60 years old, while I bet that fish is less than ten years old and near the end of it's life. That fish does seem to be a genetic anomaly though as it is quite short. Maybe it is a triploid, any one know if they are planting triploid fish in Ontario? In BC they are stocking a lot of diploid and triploid rainbows in the lakes there.
  18. Dave's Texas Trout Trout or salmon fillet with skin on. Skin side down on the BBQ on medium(about 350*). score flesh 1/4" deep and about an inch appart (from top to bottom) Drizzle liquid smoke over fillet. Follow with a light sprinkle of Hickory Smoked Salt, Mesquite Smoked Salt. Next shake on some Tex Mex Seasoning, Spicy Mesquite Seasoning and Smokey Mesquite Seasoning. Close lid and cook until flakey (about 20 mins) I came up with this recipe guiding lakers on Great Bear and it is by far my favorite for them as well as rainbows and salmon.
  19. Better yet drop it off in Queens Park and the mamby pamby polititions that cancelled the spring bear hunt can see what they have done first hand. Maybe set a couple of dozen loose in there and barr the doors while they are in session.
  20. For VOIP I use this Voip Speed Test Cliff You will get much better VOIP performance by switching to a terestrial based ISP connection. There is a 1 to 1 1/2 second lag with satellite connection due to the signal having to make a 36,000 mile trip before it ever reaches the VOIP providers servers.
  21. HEHEHE, yeah me too!!!!! Almost forgot about me peepers!!! Getting old blows!!!!!!
  22. Here's a question, Where the heck is going to find 10 billion dollars to give GM?? Instead of giving away money we don't have try paying down our debt instead.
