  1. What ever happend to the public launch by the town dock?? I fished Honey Harbour for years and don't remember paying to launch there. But I'm old and my mind is getting mushy so I could be mistaken. It was 20 or more years ago.
  2. Great report Bunk!!! I'm sure the taxpayers of the NWT thankyou for having to pay me an hour's wages to read your report!!!!! I'm sure we will see many more reports from your new locale in the future.
  3. I've been on Vonage for 4 years now and have had a couple of equipment problems during that time and they bent over backwards to resolve the issues. I have quality issues during high use periods on my ISP's network but up in the NWT I kind of expect some issues, after all we are at the end of the road in the Arctic. I will occasionally use this Voip Speed/Quality Test if I am calling my folks as they can't hear that well and I want to make sure that I get a good connection. As for 911 latency, it doesn't effect me as we don't have 911 service in the NWT. With Vonage however I do get 911 service as they do the routing for you so I don't need to dial an 11 digit emergency # (my phone# is back in Ontario so my friends and family can call me for free).
  4. I have run into this "waters mine" mind set plenty of times fishing steelies on Ontario and even New York. Seems people think that because they got there first they own the water. Doesn't matter that there are only two people fishing a hole that will comfortably fit a dozen or more without being crowded. Some people are just and there is nothing you can do about it "legally" Solopaddler and I even had it happen in Alaska last fall and the was a guide. We told the local CO who came to check our licenses later that day. As luck would have it guide guy just happend to be heading down river at the time so it was waaaaaaaay easy to describe him to the CO. She took after him and gave him her card and said for him to call her as she needed to talk to him. Very professional not to dress him down in front of his guests. I gather he was read the riot act later though. They are pretty serious about guide conduct in Alaska.
  5. Well said Rick. It doesn't matter what race any of the people involved were. It was against the law and they should be held accountable. And maybe a talking to from the cops will inform them that this behaviour is unacceptable and won't be tollerated.
  6. When I made my move to the NWT I brought my first load of stuff out with my 4X8 Casnadian Tire trailer with small tires 8" I think. I had the trailer heavily loaded and had to drive 5500kms. I made sure to have 2 spares just in case. I had a blow out in Peace river Alberta (about 4500kms into the trip) and had a slow leak in the other overnight after I reached my destination. I would go with the wider tires if they will fit without hitting the fenders, but you should be fine which ever you get. Make sure you have a good spare and look after bearing maintenance.
  7. Took forever to open this post.
  8. They should definately report the incident. What that person did was against the law and as such he should be charged. Call both the MNR and the Local Police to report this persons activity.
  9. Like I did!!!!!! I didn't feel like I was in danger, I just got tired of the increasing number of in Southern Ontario. Talk to your folks and let them know how you feel.
  10. Well I LOSE it!!!!!!! Last time I heard the Champ was driving through Thunder Bay, he still losing it there?
  11. Yep, Wednesday and Thursday suck but the rest of the week looks good. I moved up here to get away from that hot, humid weather as well as the polution in Toronto and surrounding area. Nothing like driving to TO. from the North and seeing that beautiful brown haze covering the city. It got to the point that I was having breathing problems because of the bad air. I don't have that problem any more.
  12. Noah's Marine Supply near Bloor and Kipling in Etobicoke. 54 Six Point Rd, Toronto, ON, M8Z 2X2 Phone (416) 232-0522 Fax (800) 894-1783 or (416) 232-0522 Monday to Friday 9:00AM - 5:30PM Saturday 9:00AM - 1:00PM
  13. I happen to like CTC. They have a decent selection of things and have some good sales. I won't use their auto service though, mainly because I'm cheap and do my own work. Labour rates in Yellowknife are off the chart!!!! The hourly rate at Canadian Tire is $120!!!!!! Much cheaper to do things your self, if you have the ability. When I need tires there is a local tire shop that is fair and family owned that gets my business.
  14. Silly filter!!!!! it should read positive to positive!!!! I don't think I would want to wire my junk to a battery!!!!! I guess when you want to use the short form for positive you need to do it this way P0S using the number zero for the letter o.
  15. Yep, just like spring in the NWT!!! I took these last week. This week looks much better though!!!! Gonna lay a beating on our ice though. Don't know if it will be safe or not next week. Time to start workin' on the boat!!!
  16. They do?? ?? Now that's just crazy talk!!!!!
  17. I wonder who got out to snap the pic.

  20. You know it Blaque!!! I'm out grilling when it's -60!!!!! Nothing like Texas Trout done on the BBQ. Grilled up nice with liquid smoke, texmex, spicy mesquite and smoky mesquite seasoning. MMMMMMMMMM
  21. I like it!!!!! As soon as I saw that I said to my self, some Bill's or Packer's fan came up with that. They're a wee bit spendy at $400 US though.
  22. No problem. FYI, I took out the top rack as it just gets in the way.
