  1. Yup. A prospective employer has only to google search your name and thumb through facebook to get all the dirt on you that you've plastered on the internet.
  2. Now that is a great way to spend a weekend. Quality time with you and Dad. Share come gab and loads of fish on top of it all. Enjoy every opportunity, together, that you can get.
  3. May I extend my humble and heartfelt condolences Jacques, to you and your family.
  4. plugs, harnesses, hair baits ( bucktail, streamer)
  5. I also use eyeballs for catching smelt through the ice. You can pop the eyeball out. Press down behind and under the eyeball and it will pop out. Occasionaly you'll mess up, it just takes practice.
  6. Seeing as the ice totally washed out on the Grand it might be a little while before it is good again. There are other spots for smelt though.
  7. You are probably smelling the baking from my Mom's place off Taunton As for dressing. Tell the wife to buy day old buns or save the end crusts and dry them out. Makes a superior stuffing,
  8. It's been a while since the last tease sooo, fresh and steaming hot from the oven we have.. Wait for it... Smells soooo good coming out of the oven. Got to keep the rest of the family at a distance or it will all be gone by morning
  9. It is a well organized board and the mods do a great job keeping us nutcases in line. I like it here . Great site
  10. I remember wanting a tatoo when I was an NR rating doing course back in the 70's. Our PO instructor made it quite clear it wasn't happening. If we were gonna get tatoo'd we'd be up on a charge and RTM'd. Seems a few fellas got rather ill after getting some art work. That was enough of a turn off for me. Now Lew, you sound like some of the old barrack stanchions I've met. One old sweat had a tatoo from every major port he had visited
  11. Great looking 'bull pit' you've put together
  12. Sounds like a successful outing
  13. They quoted me $100 more per annum than my State Farm policy for near identical policies. Have to admit I've been well looked after by State Farm.
  14. You at it again Jack. WTG. Obviously you had a great day.
  15. Now that is my kind of fishing report. You got out with the kids and friends. You had nice weather. The kids had fun. Then there was the added bonus of a few fish caught. These are the moments that are permanently etched in a child's memory to be played back a thousand times over the years. Fantastic job.
  16. Quick little report. Got out before sunup this morning for half a day of ice dancing. Even got Jr. out of bed for once to join me. First thing on the ice he goes through a crack that opened up. Didn't notice the space til too late. Just like his mom Only went down as far as his waste. I'm sure "the boys" will be playing hide and seek for a little while. Despite the initial mishap he stuck it out. Very little water got through the wet pants. As usual, it was another "you should have been here yesterday kinda day. Very slow bite. Had to work for em. More dinks than anything, But when the odd big boy came around The final tally for a later supper. A nice morning ( probably our last nice one for the next few days)
  17. Maybeeee? Or a couple of Asian manufacturers. Maybe the company in India with the $2000 car
  18. Push your thumb up under the socket and the eyeball will pop. Also a great bait for smelts.
  19. Just got back from the show. I think Andy and Vita have done a good job on their second show I caught 2 seminars. Got to meet Dave Mercer ( I'm a little rounder than he is ). Got to spend some time talking with Mike Miller one to one. Picked up a supply of my fave spinnerbaits, Black Fly. I spoke with a couple of outfitters. I do not book based on what I saw on a web page. I want to talk to people from a lodge. You get a really good feel on what a place is like by finding out what the people are like.
  20. It is still a good event to go to. Even if all I do is learn a few tidbits it is worth it. This is only the second year for this show and it is hard to keep any venue full in hard times, unless you don't mind 10 sock vendors, 5 spice vendors, 4 first aid suppliers, etc.... or the numerous free draws offered by time share companies. I never understood the connection between Raptors cheerleaders and fishing I'l be going tomorrow accompanied by the Mrs.
  21. Do folks still ice fish Grenadier pond? You could start backpacking the waterfront from the Humber to Commisioners st. and find casting spots along the way. Would take you a couple of days.
  22. Before I finally had surgery, I had reached the point where pills did not work any more. The legs would do their own kind of writhing and squirming and I had lost some bladder control. The sciatica was only a symptom of a bigger problem. I had caused some actual damage to the spinal nerve tissues ( for which there is some residual effect). It took a year, post-op, to regain most of the feeling back in my feet. No amount of chiro, massage or ointments will help when there are more serious problems. You need the doctor to rule out the more serious possibilities.
  23. Sound like a great time. Sorry I missed it. Doing the family wedding thingy today. I plan to get there Monday.
  24. Hamilton Hall's book, "The Back Doctor" is a good reference to learn from. It teaches the basics of managing your back care. I relied on the text for 15 years. If the muscles are in spasm, get him to an emerg. Get the muscle spasms under control then look at the treatment options. The sciatic nerve is but one of the nerves than can be affected in your lower back. The problem can extend to bladder and kidneys. The severe sciatica can merely be a sign and symptom of far deeper problems. If the legs are moving involuntarily. If there is a bladder or bowel control issue. If he can find no relief in any position. He will need some type of immediate treatment.
