  4. He will probably blame his mysterious phantom nephew that steals his identity causes trouble.
  5. Nice fish Tony. Congradulations.
  6. I beleive it is drastic but necessary. I believe the article is wrong in stating that rotenone is a pesticide. It kills fish by inhibiting the gills from taking in oxygen. The conservation aurthority is right. Using that pond as someones private fish farm is wrong. Plain and simple to me.
  7. XT is better suited to a baitcaster reel. I use it on my Abu and it's great.
  8. Welcome Richard In the spring Bronte is loaded with big hard fighting carp.
  9. Gotta love it. He is one of the greats So many great songs it's hard to pick a favourite. "There's a big ol goofy man dancin with a big ol goofy girl Eww baby, it's a big ol goofy world."
  10. That looks great. I hope they taste great for you too.
  11. Congradulations Beans. You old fart.
  12. I picked up this article from another forum. Since there have been posts in the past about carp in grocery stores I thought it would be cool to see the cultural significance of this fish. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/05/dining/0...ref=todayspaper
  13. WOW What a beast. Congradulations.
  14. I haven't looked like this but I have felt like this before .
  15. Nice fish and some good lookin preserves. I hope all the medical issues turn out okay.
  16. This deserves a quote of the week award.
  17. MJL has done some great posts . Very good photographs and narrative.
  18. Dollarama bamboo pole. It came with line, a hook, a weight and a float. I did not buy the canned sweetcorn there as they were all out. Forgot to ad this was last year.
  19. Even with no eyes a carp can still do quite well. They have an incredible array of sensors that help them find food. And just to play devil's advocate. Do foul hooked fish count?
  20. I like this world record a lot better. There should only have been one winner. On the riverbank was Jessica Wanstall, 4ft 10in tall weighing less than six stone (84lb) and something of a tiddler among anglers. In the river was a monster, a near 9ft catfish that hit the scales at a record 13st 8lb (193lb). But despite its size and whiskery age, the fish was no match for the skills of 11-year-old Jessica who waged a 20-minute battle to land her prize. She now holds the IGFA 's world record for anglers under 16. WTG girl. Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11...0#ixzz0LRGyQVPF
  21. The world record carp is over 90 lbs and was caught in another lake/pond in France. But it is a load of nonsense to me. They have these large fish in very small bodies of water and they feed them high nutrition baits. Until someone ( a paying customer) catches it on one of those same baits. The carp live on what the pond owners feed them. These are domestic animals and not wild fish as far as I am concerned.
  22. It was probably a muskrat or a beaver that you saw. A muskrat is maybe a foot and a half long including it's tail and a beaver can be over 3 ft long including it's tail. A muskrats head is about 3 inches and a beaver's 6 to 8 .
  23. Try your soft plastics along the shore off of the trail that goes from the boat launch to the Dejardin canal ( High Level Bridge ) The last time I tried that it was several years ago but I managed 8 1 to 2 pounders. There are lily pads and submerged logs along there. Poke you head through the bushes along the way and look for likely spots. A course carp fishing is a lot more fun. Oh a word of warning your concentration may be broken by the occasional bikini topped lass that rollerblades up and down the trail. Good luck.
  24. Hello and welcome. If you want to share any of these great carp spots, that you have no need of, please PM me. I'll make good use of them. How about the Grand for smallies, walleye and channel cats, Bronte and Sixteen for smallies, the local conservation areas for bass, pike and panfish. If you work the shoreline of Bayfront Park for bucketmouths with plastic baits I am sure the largemouth will entertain you.
  25. I think part of this stems from old style european attitudes about preditory fishes like pike and zander. They view them as wolves competing for food with humans.
