The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse...
chris.brock replied to Speedbird's topic in General Discussion
What section of the French did you do previously? Some sections are better than others. It's a river but most of it feels like a lake. -
What dams? By paddling the whole thing I've seen the whole thing, private property and all.
-
Just think, if the dams were down on the Credit and Bronte, the west end would be an amazing year around fishery with thousands of fish in the rivers at all times. vxp/\ There isn't any significant road blocks for a salmonid on the Bronte. I've paddled it quite a few times. There's a low dam at Lowville and a weird structure at Sidrabeen the fish easily get past. I think it will always be a put and take fishery. These are originally ocean dwelling, west coast fish.

Classic! I'll give you $200 for the Safari to put towards your new Grand Caravan???

A long shot, but I had a spider web in the orifice and had the same problem.

Never heard of the place. I checked out the website. I've tried to research places in Quebec, it's tough. Frustrating too because I bet there's some cool places I would like to go but I can't get the info. We need Adam to do Quebec Outpost Directory. Just curious, how did you hear about this place?

March madness (bows are late this year.)

You're assuming he torpedoed this frozen fish back in to the lake. If there's an issue with keeping a legal fish, we've been down that road before. -

It's a fish report and fish picture on a fishing forum with lots of non fishing stuff like baby pictures etc. Bain knows what he's doing, don't give him grief. -
Haliburton/Oblong Lake trout fishing
chris.brock replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
That's a nice part of the County around there. Haliburton is a pretty lake that coughs up the odd giant laker. Fort Irwin is a cute little town too. I don't like dipsy divers. Most times you can't even tell when a small laker is on. I like old school wire line better. I have a portable downrigger I'm not using. You could swing by and borrow it for the week. Jigging heavy spoons will work if the wind isn't blowing you around. -

Good stuff Bain. I was going to say don't give your exact location but I see you're one step ahead. Tell Kewley if his legs are cold, I like to fish in a snugee, Hahaha Hope to get out with you guys soon, nice fish! -
I think I'll be ribbing you with the same question in the summer bud

It's still a little heavy for him, but we fired a few with the .22 today. He didn't seem to drink his sip of my beer but just kind of blew bubbles. He made a few sounds I didn't recognize, maybe Ojibway words I'm not familiar with? Thanks everybody. My wife and me are super happy.

Not to hijack, but a cottage friend has an expensive, accurate breathalyzer, it's pretty fun to mess around with. I've seen a 130 lb woman blow 350 and a guy blow a Wayne Gretzky (99) the next day at noon. Hahaha

I've never had one of these before. I guess my reason for posting this is because we have important training to do and I'm wondering how soon that can start. There's a lot to learn like -how to have a sip of your beer while standing in a kayak -how to lip a pike -how to curse in Ojibway -how to fire, reload, and fire again while dropping out of a tree -how to slowly emerge from water with your eyes open and not blinking Any input is appreciated.

I don't know. I've only seen pictures but Lew looks like a guy I wouldn't want to tick off.

A little closer to home and fishing related- pretty sure it was Montana, an unmarried woman is breaking the law if she goes fishing by herself and a married woman cannot go fishing by herself on Sunday. Billy Currington said "God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy"

I own a 12' Tracker Jon I bought new from BPS. I use an 8 hp 2 stroke and with only me it's on plane quick and is fast. In hindsight, the 14' would have been better for the little bit of extra weight. They are cheap, thin and light. It leaks and if there's a chop, they ride terrible. I don't regret it but you get what you pay for.
-
Drunken idiot yes, wizard, I'm not so sure You guys keep it up and I'll grab my Thunder Stick and send a fireball right up your back end
-
thanks guys Hahaha, we talked about this before. Give me the heads up if you see the BPS stuff on sale this spring

Does anyone have experience with this stuff? It's made in Canada, that's a good sign. The material looked a little better on the Viking than my Costco Wetskins stuff. This is how cheap I am. There's 2 Viking jackets at Value Village for $10 each, and I didn't pull the trigger before asking you guys. Probably cost me more in gas to get back there. Hahaha
