  1. You gotta love cottage country. Paddling up to the Beer Store for some brown trout. Lil Fisher isn't speaking very clearly yet, but I could barely make out what I think were the words "Rick", and what sounded like "funny guy". Weird.
  2. I fish 50 times the hours per year my brother does. We get out at the cottage a few times, soft and hard water, and do a yearly fly-in together. He seems to have a knack patterning fish. He will calmly suggest something without coming across as a know it all. More often than not, it's the ticket. It leaves me thinking, how did I not see that. Bizarre. So my weakness is stupidity and freshly baked butter tarts.
  3. Freshly baked butter tarts.
  4. Pretty cool idea. I'm going to check the sat images and give it a shot.
  5. I'd say your opener was a success! Nice job.
  6. Looks like a great opener, beauty fish! Did the Jon boat guys get any?
  7. Wow, hopefully some guys on the fence take advantage. Little Miss. in prime time looks very sweet.
  8. Is your's an 08 Gallie, same truck? Go ahead with the scooter jokes. I've heard them all before. Hahaha, Brian \/ \/ \/
  9. I'd say you guys are accomplished stalkers. Looks like a beauty day out there.
  10. It's more of a spring ritual for us than anything else. We had to drag Teagan out because he's not interested in panfish or finicky salmonids, he likes the toothy critters. A few fish, nice Hawk Air hat quite a few OOS smallies, a couple sips My brother had the big score of the day, a quiet moment, tobacco laid and he has a souvenir. I took this home. I thought it was too beefy to be a deer femur. After looking online, pretty sure it's a deer femur. I'm going to put it in the park by my house after dark to see if it causes a big freak out. A little butt muncher said he wants to come out next year.
  11. Memorable, quality time spent for sure!
  12. I think it should have read- "How a charter captain 'enriched' my life" Looks like a lot of good times coming up out on the big lake, you only live once.
  13. Thanks, very generous, but I think I'll just buy an offshore. If you want some company fishing Haliburton, let me know, we'll do it. I've got various outfits, but using medium tackle like Shane said is what I was kind of hoping for. I catch them in the prop wash but I feel like buying a new toy and seeing if getting lateral helps.
  14. Is there a brand/ model that you would recommend, or a model to avoid? I'm looking to pick one up before next weekend, ordering online would be great if it could get here in time, and I don't want to spend a lot. In-line, no mast I would likely only use it a few times a year, for early and late season lakers, off my pontoon or 14' tinny.
  15. As kids we did it in north Burlington. We would wear green clothes, keep quiet, stay in the bush and out of sight. Small to medium sized pike were mind blowing as a kid. You worked on the "Real Fishing Show"? That's pretty cool!
  16. That looks like a great bunch of buds you have there. They're welcome to steal my walleye anytime. I didn't watch the video because I'm pretty sure it would just tick me off. Quite often, people suck.
  17. What's his (your customer's) opinion on the moose population there Wayne? You didn't mention that. He would have a better idea than the stripped down MNR.
  18. Yes, I prefer to call it Jokeville. Lots of scat, rabbit fur, I've seen one while on my mountain bike. I have a dog, cat and a newborn. I am scared, very scared.
  19. you obviously read he tapped out, why are you trolling him back in?
  20. Dude, he's out, leave him alone, whine among yourselves
  21. http://coastwatch.glerl.noaa.gov/modis/modis.php?region=h&page=2&template=sub&image=t1.15109.1555.LakeHuron.143.250m.jpg main channel with current has been open for a while, some slack water is still frozen
  22. I've got a neighbor who shoots red squirrels because they get into his cottage because his soffit is wide open. Another neighbor shoots pileated wood peckers (probably illegal) because they put holes in his trees. This mentality rubs me the wrong way. Suck it up buttercup, there's critters out there that may not act the way you want them to. I live in the GTA because that's where me and my wife get our paychecks. I've got a crappy, tiny backyard with no coyotes but it has a great view of cool buildings, houses, nice pavement. If the wind is right, I can hear the melodic hum of the QEW.
  23. I know all the limnology stuff. Come for a visit in the summer Rob, it's crude but a live crayfish and you will catch a SMB below the thermocline, in 15 minutes
  24. Zero bass? What part of the province are you talking about? Oligotrophic Haliburton lakes have oxygen and smallies (big smallies too) below the thermocline, mid summer on.
  25. If you're so worried about your pets, same thing, go live somewhere else Our white arses came over on a boat, walked in and set up shop here yeah, God Bless Canada, a rich history of hunting and trapping for food and clothing, not for bounties or sport
