looks like you guys drop shotted the heck out of 'em, they look like Lake Erie sized smallies, very cool the scenery pics make me want to get out of the city and back up north bonus accidental lakers too, any size on the lakers?
-
awesome, I'd rather catch those toothy critters than bass or Lake O salmon

I think Gardiner needs not to be on a leash, balls out, he's gonna cost the team a few but if he's going to be Bobby Orr, he needs to play his game like Bill said, I like Gardiner too, I hope they don't trade him soon In a game like Saturdays (CHI), guys like Clarkson, McLaren, and Orr running around, and Fraser out there too could have made Chicago's skaters not wanting to go into the corners or come free-wheeling through neutral zone seeing Kostka out there, I think he was a solid, cheap D man

that's a good thing me and my wife went down Head and into Fishog this summer and saw some things we didn't like and wished a CO would have been around
-
I'm definitely not an expert, I did go through a muskie phase for a few years though, if you're just looking to get one in the boat, the Kawarthas or Haliburton would be a better bet than the French or G Bay, the latter 2 are more quality less quantity I would say the mid to late summer would be easier than the fall, often in the fall the shallows are void of life and you have to look a little deeper best bet- mid August, Kawartha Lk, black buck tail spinner, basically fish like you're going for bass with a little faster retrieve, weed lines and weed pockets, it's not really rocket science
-
on a side note, Wantabigone where did you go and how was the fishing? I know we have similar interests in what we prefer for fly-in lakes.

4 walleye per person for lunch doesn't really make sense I think it's a waste of money to be flying around (even waaaay up there were Solopaddler was this September), to check that stuff when there's so many atrocities going on here in Southern ON, a CO could collect at least double his salary in fines around here without much effort I don't know, I remember waiting for a plane, when it did land and pull in, the American party coming out had 2 big guys struggling to unload a 4 foot cooler that looked like it weighed 300 pounds I guess they didn't drink all their beer?

I looked, didn't see it if it's free it's likely better as an anchor than an outboard
-
totally, their record is good but I don't think they deserve it, if they continue to play like this, it won't be long until they go from 1st to last

Shortly after getting my line in the water, I thought I had hooked a decent walleye, the muskie stayed down and just dogged it for a minute or so with the colder water we did pretty good on the target species later, nice night with the full moon
-
sounds like an exciting day, too bad you didn't take pictures, a quick picture of the sturgeon would have been interesting
-
I think Raf was implying the Ridgeline isn't a "real truck" it's funny, once you get out of the city, nobody buys Ridgelines or Avalanches

I've been with Hearst Air once (different lake though), like Mike said, they seemed like a solid outfitter, they've been around a long time and do things right Hilmer is in the "Northern Ontario Fishing Guide" (book), there's not a lot, but likely some useful info there Hilmer is small, if you're ok with that cool, in that price range I would look at Martinson, bigger, but it sounds like a shallow, featureless lake, maybe a little weedy later in the season

no, it's not a bad idea, I'm on my 4th Ranger (2 were 4wd, 2 were 2wd), I don't have any experience with the 4 cylinder engine though unlike most of the other posters, I'm happy with the decision to save the $$$ and have a 2wd pick-up, for what I do, it's rare to need the 4x4, the extra cost was about $4k, there's added weight, more moving parts and the potential for more repairs if money wasn't a factor, for sure I'd have a 4x4

Haliburton Bassin', Fishindevil style
chris.brock replied to chris.brock's topic in General Discussion
hey, you're new around here, how about a little introduction? -
Fishindevil made his way up to Haliburton. I worked nights the night before so had to sleep in a little, then later met him up the road at the lake, and jumped in his boat. sunrise what a great outfit to fish out of, super comfy, lots of top end for hitting different spots now for some fish pics, Fishindevil put on a clinic out there!, spinnerbaits were a steady producer (even without a blade!) Fishindevil with a nice fall bass I even got in on the action too sunset back at the cottage, just in time for a rib dinner, perfect! I went looking for a different species the next evening thanks Fishindevil, a great day, great weather (sunburn in October!), hopefully we can hook up again

looks like a great long weekend for you, gotta love this time of year -
yeah, I'd say you conquered!

beauty muskie, great pictures, that sunset was crazy, maybe those CO's need a lesson in boating safety
-
with very little MNR presence down here, I guess this one of the only ways to "clean up or waterways" this thread likely won't last long, but I like what you did (without violence), I'm proud of you, you could have turned a blind eye but you stood up

I was really hopeful when the "Occupy Movement" was going on, most people (including the majority on OFC) said this is stupid, they don't have a defined issue they are protesting, etc those kids had it right, it wish it would have become more viral and got more support, they were basically saying "screw this, this whole system is bull pooh", and all we do now (myself included), is gripe about our state of affairs, just like we are doing now
